Chapter 349 - Dinner Party (I)

When Han Zihao stopped the car in front of the cafe, he found Xu Nuan standing outside, waiting for him.

She didn't want to make him wait any further as she was worried that he might be angry with her for lying about being on the way and getting late for the dinner, again. To get some bonus points from him, she decided to come out and wait for him.

He got out of the car and looked at her with a frown, " Why are you standing outside like this? Didn't I tell you to wait inside?" 

" No doubt you get sick easily." He nagged her while removing his blazer and putting it on her shoulders.

She was wearing a yellow, sleeveless dress and the weather these days is getting colder at night. Seeing her standing outside like this, he couldn't help but worry about her health. What if she gets cold after this? 

That's why he worries about her because she doesn't know how to take care of herself. 

She worries about everyone around her, except herself.

Xu Nuan's cheeks turned crimson seeing him being protective towards her. She was touched by his sweet gesture and was about to thank him when he said in a monotonous tone before getting into the car, " Get in the car. We're getting late."

However, he didn't reply to her question and simply muttered a sentence before starting the car, " You'll find out about it when we arrive." 

She raised brows at him for being all mysterious and wondered what exactly he was thinking.

After some time, he stopped the car in front of the Jade Hotel. The hotel where she used to be a regular customer in her past life and loves the home-like food and coziness of this place. 

Are they here for a dinner date?  Xu Nuan couldn't help but glance at him.

" Why did you bring me here? Are we dining out tonight?" She asked curiously. 

If he wanted to dine out tonight, he could have said so. Why is he being all mysterious about it? She also likes the food at Jade Hotel, if he had told her, she would have happily joined him. 

Han Zihao didn't say anything and stepped out of the car. After handing the keys to the valet, he turned to Xu Nuan who was looking around, admiring the night-lightening of the hotel. 

He pursed his lips and coughed awkwardly, " We…aren't here just for the dinner." 

" Hmm? Not for dinner? Then what?" She stared at him. 

He took a deep breath and finally revealed the truth, " Well, Today is my father and his wife's wedding anniversary. So Grandma has arranged a family dinner at the hotel."

" However, you don't need to worry about anything. It's just a family dinner and nothing else. There will be only family and no outsiders."

Xu Nuan was speechless when he finally opened his mouth. What? Wait….Did…she hear him right? 

" Today is your parent's wedding anniversary and you're telling me about it now? Before going inside the hotel for dinner? ARE YOU CRAZY?". She bellowed at him.

How can he be so inconsiderate? She didn't even dress up appropriately and was wearing a casual dress that she was wearing in the morning. 

She wasn't even wearing any makeup and on top of that, she didn't bring any gifts for them. What would they think about her if she went there empty-handed like this? 

What was he trying to do? Surprise her with a family dinner? Did he think she would be glad if he kept it a surprise? She sighed in exasperation. 

He pursed his lips seeing her getting mad and explained the situation, " I didn't mean to hide it from you. I also forgot about it. A few days ago, when Grandma told me about the dinner, I wasn't planning to attend this dinner since so much was going on with you."

" However, today when everything got resolved, Han Liang called me in the evening to ask about the dinner. I was planning to pass it but he said that Grandma wanted to see you. I…had no choice but to bring you here." 

" Also, he called me about the same just an hour ago. And as soon as I decided to attend the dinner party, I left to pick you up from the cafe." He explained. 

She stared at him and tried to control her overflowing emotions. Relax Xu Nuan, Relax. 

" If you had found out about it an hour ago, you should have mentioned it to me at that time. Why didn't you say anything?"

" If you had told me earlier, I would have changed my clothes at least. Now, what would they think about me?" 

He cleared his throat and said embarrassingly, " I was planning too but I was worried about how you will react about the sudden dinner party so I…couldn't bring up the topic."

Now she understood why he was acting cold and indifferent to her. He wasn't being indifferent, he was nervous and scared. It was her who misunderstood his expressions and thought he was being mysterious and was angry at her. 

Xu Nuan scoffed in disbelief and tried her best to calm down. She doesn't want to go inside in this mood and ruin the dinner party. 

Han Zihao pursed his lips and seeing her unhappy expressions, he knew he messed it up a big time. " If you don't want to go inside, we can simply skip the dinner party. No one will say anything."

She shot him a glare, " Are you for real? We're already in front of the hotel. How can we not go?"

" More than attending the party, I am worried about going inside like this. You should have told me earlier." She cried out in frustration. The clothes she was wearing were not suitable for a party and she didn't want to leave a careless impression on his family. 

He doesn't understand anything. 

After taking a deep breath, she finally asked, " Did you bring a gift? Don't tell me you came empty-handed." she shot him a glare. If he didn't bring any gift with him, they're done for.

She will move back to her apartment and will not talk to him for a whole week. 

Upon hearing her question, he immediately nodded, " Of course, I did. It will be delivered to the hotel in a while." He added. 

In truth, he forgot about the gift as well. He didn't even remember about the anniversary, how would he remember to prepare the gift? 

It was Feng Sheng who arranged the gift at the last moment. At least his mind works fast when in a time of crisis. 

' Should I give him a bonus for his timely preparedness?' He thought.
