Chapter 22：Let's Start Afresh

Xu Shibang froze momentarily. "We are still short of five billion!"

Qin Mo's hand froze in mid-air. "Sell five percent of my shares away!"

Hearing that, Xu Shibang was stumped…

How could he do that?

Before he could say anything, Qin Mo added, "After you are done with this, I will give you another one percent of the shares. Don't you dare tell my father about this!"

'It's such an attractive offer, though…' Xu Shibang hesitated for a while before eventually agreeing to it.

When it was four in the afternoon, Qin Mo received a notification that the money was already transferred to his account.

It was thirty billion in total!

However, all of these could not even be compared to one of Gu Xu's fingers…

Qin Mo went over to the Gu Group at five p.m.

However, instead of going up to find her, he decided to wait beside her car.

Pei Qian got someone to send her car over in the afternoon. It was a white BMW which Qin Mo was very familiar with.

When Gu Xi walked into the car park, she immediately noticed Qin Mo and instinctively tried to run away from him.

Unfortunately, he stopped her…

"Gu Xi…" He jogged towards her and grabbed her arm. "We need to talk!"

Gu Xi struggled to pull her arm away, but her efforts were futile. She looked around hoping that someone would come to her rescue, only to hear Qin Mo's deep voice. "I have removed all the surveillance cameras here!"

Her face turned purple with rage and Qin Mo helplessly smiled. "How about we talk in the car?"

Gu Xi refused to move and calmly looked at Qin Mo. "Tell me, Qin Mo! What do you want me to do for you to give up?"

Qin Mo's gaze darkened, but he gave a light chuckle to ease the tension, which unfortunately sounded faker than it should sound.

"Gu Xi, I won't harm you!" He added in a soft voice, "Just ten minutes?"

He looked around their surroundings. "We can talk in the car. I promise I won't do anything to you."

Gu Xi contemplated for a while before she eventually opened the car door to enter. Qin Mo quickly rushed to the co-driver seat.

Gu Xi placed her hand on the steering wheel with her eyes fixed on the view ahead. "You can talk now."

Qin Mo had his gaze focused on her… Her attitude right now was no different from the time he first met her—cold and unfeeling.

Gu Xi was not the usual delicate and spoiled girl born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Perhaps it was because she was sent overseas at a young age to learn business, she had grown up to be strong.

She always carried a cold aura around her and would never link arms with him in public, much less act cute in front of him.

However, he just liked her the way she was…

He liked how she was always so cold and unapproachable to others, yet he would be the only one who could see through her little schemes.

He really cherished and liked her! For once, he thought that he would be the only one whom she would flash her elegant smile to forever.

Hence, he chose to hide the truth from her when he found himself waking up beside Tang Xinru.

Qin Mo hesitated for a while. "If I told you the truth… from the start, would you forgive me? Gu Xi, I never harbored any designs on her before. I was drunk that night and mistook her for you. On our engagement night, I drank a glass of wine… Gu Xi, I am not finding excuses for myself, but I really didn't know why I would do that with her…"

Listening to his words, Gu Xi's heart took a dip…

After a while, she gave a light chuckle. "Qin Mo, since when were you the type to talk about the 'what ifs'?"

She recalled the times where he was always full of high spirits. She recalled the times where he would raise his handsome brows with overflowing confidence. Yet, looking at his apologetic state right now… He did not even seem that apologetic when she caught him in bed with Tang Xinru.

She did not know if it was the disappointment she felt for him or she had already lost all hope in him, but she really did not have the mood to continue this topic.

Moreover, the name Tang Xinru simply disgusted her.

Qin Mo pleaded in a deep voice, "Gu Xi… let's start afresh, alright?"

"No, we can't! Qin Mo, I only allowed you to talk to me today because I wanted to clarify things with you!" Gu Xi turned her face away to look at the window. "Don't come up to me ever again!"

Qin Mo stared at her eyes and asked while emphasizing on every syllable, "Is it because of Pei Qian?"

Gu Xi froze but she quickly regained her composure. "It has nothing to do with him!"

"So it was because of the twenty percent of the Gu Group's shares?" asked Qin Mo in a cold tone of voice.

Upon hearing that, Gu Xi finally turned around to face him. "How did you know about that?"

He did not reply to her immediately, instead, he just stared at her face…

After staring for a very long time, he suddenly grunted, "So it's true?"

Although he had seen the signed document before, he still had a glimmer of hope that Gu Xi did not actually sign the contract because of her proud personality… He would rather she stay angry at him than get together with Pei Qian.

However, her expression told him that she really betrayed herself.

Qin Mo suddenly punched his fist on the insides of the car door. He punched it so hard that he almost broke his bones and a big bump could be seen on his hand.

Gu Xi pursed her lips and sat in silence…

After a long while, Qin Mo said in a hoarse tone of voice, "Gu Xi, leave him, would you? I will buy back those shares and pay for your termination fee!"

Gu Xi was stumped…

What did Qin Mo say?

He said that he would pay for…

Her lips slightly quivered and her body uncontrollably trembled.

She gave a light chuckle with tears welling up in her eyes… She did not even cry so badly when she saw him making love with Tang Xinru.

"Qin Mo… I am already together with Pei Qian." She looked into his eyes and he could see her wiping her tears. "And you… are together with Tang Xinru."

Qin Mo's heart cracked and he swooped her into his arms with his big hands cupping her cheeks. "I was never together with her! Gu Xi… I don't mind. Let bygones be bygones, alright?"

He pressed her head against his shoulders and mumbled, "We can go overseas and get married there. We can even live there for a few years before coming back… Gu Xi, please?"

She hit his chest with her fists. "Qin Mo, let go…"

"I won't let go…" He painfully shut his eyes. "I won't let go of you anymore. I won't leave you again… Sorry, Gu Xi… Sorry…"

If it wasn't for him, Pei Qian wouldn't have taken her. If it wasn't for him, she would not be so miserable now.

"Gu Xi, you can scold me or even hit me, but you cannot ignore me…" He kissed the crown of her head. "Please… please…"

She kept crying and refused to agree with him…

To put it another way, she was in constant pressure ever since that night and yet, now, she finally had a shoulder to lean on or even cry on…

Surprised or not, that person was actually Qin Mo! The Qin Mo who messed up her head so badly!

She did not care about the twenty percent of shares. What she cared about was… Why was he helping her? Why didn't he mind the relationship she and Pei Qian had?

They just continued hugging each other, forgetting the fact that they were past lovers. Her tears just made everything seem more painful than it already was.

In the end, Qin Mo decided to send her home and drove her car to her condominium.

Gu Xi got down the car and Qin Mo called her out. "Gu Xi, regardless of whether you want to forgive me or not, I am still going to help you!"

He laughed in self-ridicule. "At least I hope that you can be with the man you love."

Gu Xi looked at him from afar and pursed her lips. "Qin Mo, I will consider it."

That was the most touching sentence he had ever heard in his entire life.

Qin Mo smiled at her and watched her enter the lift.

Little did they know, there was a black camper van silently parked somewhere far away from them…
