Gu Xi pursed her lips and thought about how she had told Pei Qian that she was coming back only after two days. How was she going to explain that she needed him to accompany her to the Crystal Hotel!

It was not because she was prideful or conceited…

But it was because the Gu Family and Qin Family previously had a joint marriage—everyone in the corporate world in City H knew that!

This time, however, she wasn't the one that Qin Mo was going to marry. This predicament might lead people to question the Gu Group capability in the corporate world, especially if she didn't go.

Gu Xi calmly said, "Tang Xinru called and said she will be engaged to Qin Mo tomorrow evening."

Lin Yunzhi's expression changed as she softly scoffed. "She still had the nerve to call!"

Gu Xi supported her head with her hands and smiled. "The newly appointed Mrs. Qin already decided to display her authority. Yunzhi, what do you think I should do?"

Lin Yunzhi sat opposite Gu Xi and tapped the files with her fingers. "If she thinks that being Mrs. Qin is better than being the Young Missy of the Gu Family, then she is just narcissistic."

She even said in a nasty tone, "Gu Xi, time will prove what kind of pathetic outcome women who are not loved by their husband will face."

She turned her body to the side and her voice lowered. "Manager Gu should know what it means to have a taste of your own medicine."

She tapped the table. "I will leave the documents here."

Gu Xi gazed at her confident look and threw a pen at her. "Lin Yunzhi, don't use your absurd thinking on me! I won't… betray myself!"

Lin Yunzhi walked away and bent down to pick Gu Xi's pen up before cheekily smiling. "With just a gentle kiss, it would probably make Tang Xinru black-faced for the whole night."

She blew a flying kiss to her. "Xiao Xixi, don't become soft-hearted!"

Lin Yunzhi walked over and she looked displeased. After all, she did not like Tang Xinru from that start and thought that she was too scheming for her liking. When she hung around Gu Xi before, she definitely had bad intentions!

Great! Now, she stole Gu Xi's fiance away!

She didn't admire Qin Mo that much, but…

Gu Xi was better than Tang Xinru in any aspect. What more? Qin Mo's way of handling this incident was very disappointing, to say the least!

On the night of the engagement party, if Qin Mo really loved Gu Xi, he would have tried to protect their marriage no matter what!

The phone had rung a few times before someone picked up the phone…

A woman's voice was heard. "Hello."

Gu Xi was a little startled. She never thought Pei Qian's phone would end up in a woman's hands.

"Is President Pei there?" She chose a safe way to address him.

That woman paused for a moment before saying, "Oh, he went to the washroom! His phone was left on the dining table!"

Gu Xi could not think of any reason and switched her phone off.

In the high-end restaurant, Pei Qian walked out of the washroom and Mo Yan returned his phone to him. "I answered a call for you, and it belonged to a woman. I hope you won't mind."

Pei Qian smiled and swiped his phone unlocked. He saw Gu Xi's number.

He quietly placed his phone down and Mo Yan laughed softly. "Girlfriend?"

"Not really!" Pei Qian raised his glass and toasted her. "But.. we do have an intimate body contact."

Mo Yan gave a gentle laugh. Her long, curly hair swayed, along with her bright eyes and white teeth. She looked unworldly beautiful!

She was indeed worthy to be a world superstar. She frequently participated in Milan and Paris Fashion Week and was also a first-rate celebrity in advertisements. She was invited back to the country by her old classmate, Pei Qian, to advertise for Empire Corporation's newly released products.

Mo Yan twirled the red wine in the glass and smirked. "This does not seem to be your usual style."

"You think too much into it!" Pei Qian pulled a soft smile. "She is not a casual woman as well."

Mo Yan's beautiful eyes narrowed and her voice turned a little dry. "She must be a special woman… so special that you gave her preferential treatment!"

Pei Qian furrowed his brows. Was she special?

He didn't think so!

If it was not because of Qin Mo or that person, he probably would not be affiliated with Gu Xi. Other than her beauty and cheeky personality… there was really nothing else.

He was a man who wasn't that interested in women. Even if he met a woman in a banquet, he would just nod his head or maybe collaborate. However, he would never bring her home to be his wife!

He met Gu Xi in a complicated situation, and he ended up bringing her to his bed the first time they met!

"Pei Qian, what are you thinking?" Mo Yan's voice was warm. She did not seem displeased by Pei Qian's lack of attention to her.

Pei Qian smiled and did not talk about Gu Xi again.

He did not want others to know about him and Gu Xi!

"I was thinking about whether I should give you a rise in the endorsement fee." Pei Qian took a sip of wine.

Mo Yan lowered her eyes and smiled. "You realized it too late. Capitalist!"

"Is that so?" He reached out to stroke his smooth chin. "I'm still considered a conscientious capitalist."

Mo Yan flashed a smile at her and then suddenly sighed. "Pei Qian, it's good to see you like this."

Pei Qian's smile retracted and after a while, he pursed his lips. "You think too much again."

Did she really overthink?

Because she could clearly feel that he was in a good mood.

Moreover, wasn't the girl who called him earlier on responsible for his good mood?
