Chapter 4

Boom!

The whole wagon exploded, producing a deafening sound that could break the eardrums.

The demons, who were laughing, were also swept out by the flames. Even the wagons around them were caught up in the air, making them fly back and forth.

“It’s done!”

Leticia jumped up.

My heart was pounding. I felt an indescribable thrilling feeling.

‘I did it!’

The power of butane gas was great. In the blink of an eye, more than half of the pack of impurities disappeared.

“Ack!”

“What’s this?! Please save me!!”

Screams were heard everywhere, followed by a disgusting smell of burnt flesh, which made me nauseous.

Even the imps, who was able to avoid the explosion, lost their mind when they saw the sight.

“A..a wizard?”

The imps looked at Leticia with a confused face.

She wasn’t a wizard. She is just a little girl that’s not worth your time to look at.

“What the hell did you do?”

Everyone was in shock and terror.

Then, Leticia came to her senses.

‘This is not the time to be like this!’

At the end of the wilderness, there was a way out.

She then took the road and ran away.

There must be someone out there. With such hope, she shouted with all her might.

“Please save me! There’s someone here!”

The child’s pitchy voice resounded through the wilderness.

“Get that girl!”

The rants of the imps followed.

‘I shouldn’t get caught, not like this.’

Everyone was chasing after her.

No matter how much she can run, she still has her limits.

On the other hand, the imps have good stamina and are very familiar with the topography of this place, making the distance narrow down.

“No!”

Leticia ran as fast as she could.

Running around while looking back and forth, she stumbled on a rock and stars glistened before her.

It wasn’t just a fall. She rolled down several times and got stuck on a tree branch.

“Ouch!”

She exclaimed as she felt another wave of pain. She knew she needed to get up and continue running. But when Leticia sprang to her feet, it was too late.

Before she knew it, the imps jumped off the slope and blocked her way.

The same goes for the way back. She’s completely surrounded by them.

She felt scared, but she knew that she shouldn’t give up so easily.

“D-Didn’t you just see that?”

Leticia clenched her teeth and shouted.

“If you don’t let me go, I’ll do it again!”

She heard them sneer at her.

“Then try it again!”

The imps giggled.

They’re intelligent. They knew that Leticia was empty-handed.

“Come here!”

Their yellow eyes glowed furiously, their black tongues fluttered, and their sticky saliva dripped from their mouth.

My head went blank.

“Come here!”

They stretched out their hands to grab Leticia’s hair.

It was at that moment.

Before they could get their hands on her, they heard a loud sound.

Boom!

A powerful tremor shook the ground. Whatever it was, a surge of water seemed to go down to the ground.

“Hmm?”

The imps looked in the direction of the sound.

Something popped out beyond the thick sand dust. A giant monster’s head was slowly rolling towards their way…

The blood-soaked head rolled down and stopped right where they were. As it turned to our direction, the face was revealed, and it seemed like it was horribly distorted by pain.

“What is this?!”

The imps shouted, frightened.

Who the hell killed this scary monster? And did you just throw this head off for a spectacle?

She looked beyond with a nervous look.

It was not long before that a person appeared in front of them.

Leticia breathed in, and for a moment, her heart stopped beating.

‘What the hell is that?’

The figure resembles a human being, but it didn’t seem like one. She couldn’t visibly see the face because of the black cloak it was wearing.

The devil has a black armor that was smeared with the blood of the monster. On one hand, he held a sword still dripping with blood. With that kind of appearance, he was exhaling breathtaking flesh.

“Argh!”

The imps screamed.

“I-I’m sorry!”

“Please save me! Please help me!”

As soon as they saw this demon, they were enveloped in terror.

She didn’t care about the situation she was in. Everyone ran away, leaving Leticia out. It was as if a mass of red smoke were disappearing rapidly.

This has confirmed it.

A creature that even demons would fear.

‘I really don’t know how lucky I am.’

Leticia was devastated.

Now, she has no energy to run away. Her legs gave out, and she just sat there.

She just stared at the sight of the Great Devil slowly coming towards her side, as if she was nailed to the ground.

‘I’ve never seen an impressive being in my life. He’s too strong.’

If there was a pile of sand, I wouldn’t have stepped on it.

When the wind blew, I got through it with one hand.

Even the wasteland seemed to hold her breath in a misguided manner.

The wind, avoiding his rough touch, made the hood of his cloak move.

Then, the hood of his cloak got blown away, revealing the Great Devil beneath it.

Now that she saw it, it was a person with no ‘face’. He wore a black mask under the hood of his cape, making it look like there was nothing beneath it.

The unusual mask scared me to death.

With overwhelming fear, Leticia completely froze.

‘I just hope it ends soon…’

Then…

“She’s here!”

I could hear people shouting.

Several people rushed over from the sandstorm. They were all soldiers wearing helmets.

The Great Devil looked back at them and said…

“Whose kid got lost?”

Leticia was awfully surprised.

It’s amazing how the devil talks. His voice is even more amazing. He spoke just like a healthy human being.

But it was even more horrifying.

‘Is that voice keeping them off guard?’

She couldn’t breathe because of that thought and just looked up at the demon and his men.

“That’s not it sir!”

The soldiers gasped and said.

“The wagon was broken not far from here! That’s Count Grey’s wagon!”

‘Hmm?’

Leticia was surprised once again.

‘How did these soldiers know about my family?’

The soldiers looked up and down at Leticia. They whispered something to each other, and then one of them asked carefully.

“Are you perhaps the daughter of Count Grey?”

Leticia nodded in fear.

There was a slight sensation in the midst of confusion and fear.

Something is going on.

These soldiers were not monsters. They were humans. Their polite way of speaking made it seem like they weren’t bad people.

‘Who the hell are they?’

Some were younger with shields on their back.

Leticia took a closer look at what’s engraved on the shields.

A dragon with four wings. It was a family’s insignia. This means that they are soldiers belonging to a certain family.

She felt a sense of déjà vu.

A similar dragon figure was seen in the seal of the letter received by my uncle.

“By any chance…”

Leticia hesitated to ask them.

“Are you the soldiers of the Halstead Castle?”

“Yes, we are!”

They answered loudly. She moved away from the demon and towards the soldiers.

“I’m not a lost child!”

“Say your greetings properly! You will be the Lord’s bride.”

Leticia was astonished.

Even though she heard it with her own ears, she still couldn’t believe it.

They said that this dreadful demon is their Lord.

Lord of Halstead. Leticia’s husband.

He was able to cut the neck of a giant monster casually. He is like a demon who makes monsters run away in fear.

As expected, the rumors were all true.

‘What… What should I do?’

I tried to come to my senses, but I just couldn’t.

‘You have to do it right. You are the esteemed daughter of a Count.’

“Well, our house had already r-replied….”

She couldn’t think of a back story. Her mind was just blank. She could only feel her hands shaking like crazy.

‘I have to stop, but I can’t stop myself!’

The monster Lord of Halstead lowered his gaze. He looked at Leticia’s hand.

“…”

The next moment…

He turned his head roughly away. He seemed to have lost all interest in an instant.

Leticia was embarrassed.

‘I’m wrong. He doesn’t like me.’

Then, a rough sandstorm blew.

The soldiers, who were already flustered, became even more ashamed.

Then, he unfolded his cape to stop the wind from rushing to Leticia.

The monster Lord turned circularly.

“Let’s go.”

“Yes, my Lord!”

The soldiers walked circularly around Leticia. The horses were roaring as they headed to the mansion.

“That’s strange. How did you get out alone when all the servants ran away?”

“That’s true. I also heard some kind of explosion.”

“Wasn’t it just me?”

Leticia flinched.

It was fortunate that the soldiers saw nothing and that she wasn’t pried on.

“I don’t know. I don’t really know anything.”

Leticia went with them with a dubious face.
