Chapter 40 Mistakes
As he looked at Ning Yao and how obediently she was behaving, Clarence simply wanted to hold her in his arm and ask cheekily, “Then, if I want to do this, you’ll be OK with it too?”
He coughed once to get rid of the wild thoughts in his mind.
“I wanted to take you to see some government officials. Recently, the government has sold a piece of land. With the government as a guarantor, it’s easy to get loans from the bank. However, those people went out for drinks. We’ll meet them and talk about this next time.”
He couldn’t bear to let Ning Yao drink with those people.
Ning Yao nodded. “Shall we go back first or…?”
And she realized that she had said the wrong thing.
It’s already past nine o’clock, where else could she go?
“I’ll send you back.” Clarence stood up and suddenly smiled at her. “Of course, if you want to go somewhere else…”
“That’s fine too,”
Ning Yao was so mesmerized by the man’s smile that the first place she thought of was a hotel.
The first time they were alone was also at a hotel.
Ning Yao shook her head violently. What was she thinking?
After sending Ning Yao back to school, Clarence watched her enter the school gate before leaving
The news that Ning Yao had taken over the Donghe Restaurant project was kept a secret among the employees, and only a few senior executives knew about it.
Even Martin did not know that she had another project. He would only ask her occasionally, “Vera, why are you so busy now?”
Ning Yao didn’t even have much time to go to school now. Fortunately, most of her exams had already ended. She had nothing to do in school except for the accounting certificate exam at the end of the semester.
As a newcomer, Ning Yao was still clueless about many things. As such, when she was not in the company, she usually went to negotiate with her partners, suppliers, and design teams. This was the first major project assigned to her by Clarence and she wanted to do her best.
Seeing Ning Yao running around every day, her colleagues started to say, “She should stop pretending to be so busy. She’s just an intern, yet she’s making herself look busier than the president. Did she think we’d all be envious of her being valued by the president?”
Although Lily was also busy after returning, she was at least much more relaxed than when she went on a business trip. The things at hand were not too difficult to handle either.
So when she saw how busy Ning Yao was nowadays, she also started to have mixed feelings.
“It’s fine. She’s just an intern. She might be a little flustered because she’s afraid that she won’t do her job well.” But despite her words, Lily still had a bad feeling.
She had a feeling that Clarence might have already given Ning Yao some important tasks to do.
When Lily went to the northwest, she claimed to be on sick leave, but it was actually because the project was very confidential.
Clarence only entrusted her with the task because he trusted her.
But now, she couldn’t even see him more than a few times a day.
Instead, it was this other woman who was the one who entered and left Clarence’s office.
But what could Lily do?
In a blink of an eye, a month had passed and Ning Yao was finally almost done with her work.
She had been worried that Mei Yu would not let the matter rest so easily after she had replaced his men.
However, Mei Yu had never caused her any trouble.
She guessed that it was because Mei Yu was busy with the collaboration with Jin Qi.
She was now waiting for the design team’s draft paper to come out, and then she would find the construction team to finish the restaurant’s construction. After that, she would go to the advertising department or find an outsourcing company to do publicity.
Now that she had some free time, she continued to work on her previous work and helped Martin share some of his stress.
During this period, Martin had guessed that she had been too busy because Clarence had given her some other tasks.
On this day, Ning Yao was tidying up her desk in her office. She was also arranging the documents that were waiting to be handled by Clarence according to their urgency.
Suddenly, she received an internal call from the conference room.
The female employee’s calm and cold voice came through the phone. “Come to the meeting room for a while, Secretary Ning.”
Conference room?
Ning Yao was stunned for a moment, then she got up and went to the meeting room upstairs.
When she arrived at the meeting room, she realized that the entire table was full of people. Not only was Mei Yu there, but Lily was there too. Martin was standing next to Clarence, looking at her with a worried expression.
One of the Vice Presidents threw a contract on the table the moment Ning Yao entered. “Interns are so unreliable. How could you make such a stupid mistake? You’re finished!”
Ning Yao picked up the contract and flipped through it. When she reached the last page, she noticed that the decimal point of the contract amount was not right.
Her heart almost stopped.
The forty million yuan contract had become four hundred thousand because of this decimal point.
She remembered this contract. She was in charge of it a few days ago, but at that time, she clearly…
“You’re Ning Yao, right? This contract is worth over thirty million yuan. How are you going to pay the remainder?” An elderly high-ranking official looked at Ning Yao with a dark expression.
The meeting room was very quiet. Everyone was looking at her as if they were looking at a drowning person.
