Han Jie could be easily distracted. That was known by those who were close to her. That was the reason as well why she did not think much the time when Suzuki Kyou had hugged her.
At this moment, she was staring at the dress Wang Jin had picked out for her.
Han Jie had to admit, it was pretty and exactly what Han Mei would have worn.
And that made her remember her sister again. So, Han Jie sighed and stared at her cell phone. 'When is she planning to call me? You would think as twins, and we'll have better chances at communicating.' Han Jie thought darkly.
Han Jie turned back to the mirror and brushed out her hair, thinking of the day's events.
She, Jonah, and Wang Jin got to the parking lot laughing so hard about how nervous they had been when they were going to apologize to Suzuki Kyou.
"It's crazy," Wang Jin, she said before she laughed again, then asked, "What were we thinking?"
"That, we just didn't want him to get mad. Silent people are scared when they explode." Han Jie softly said both of them became quiet, reflecting on what she had said.
Wang Jin nodded as she could not refute the Han Jie. Though he ignores unnecessary things, she knew by firsthand experience that it was never a good thing to make Suzuki Kyou mad. That was the main reason why she swallowed her pride and reached out to Han Jie to help her.
"Oh! Shoot!" Han Jie suddenly exclaimed as she hit her forehead with her hand.
"What happened?" Wang Jin asked, worried.
Han Jie felt like crying, "I forgot to buy him, sweets!" She said before she turned around, looking at the shopping mall. Han Jie was considering going back and looking for something to buy him.
Wang Jin frowned. "Kyou don't really like sweets…" She said softly, and her tone with unmasked confusion.
It was understandable for Wang Jin to act this way since she did not hear Han Jie and Suzuki Kyou's short conversation earlier before they left the office.
Han Jie shook her head and did not acknowledge what Wang Jin had said. "Never mind. I can just buy him donuts later on the 10th floor." She said with a grin before walking quickly towards their car.
Wang Jin was still confused when Jonah spoke, "Can I show you to your car, miss?" he asked suddenly, hoping she brought her car.
"Oh! I was hoping to bum a ride off you." Wang Jin said, looking past Jonah.
Jonah gritted his teeth, unhappy to be around her further before he looked at Han Jie, who was not far from them.
"Sure thing!" Han Jie said cheerfully, and Jonah led them to her car.
Jonah opened the front passenger side for Han Jie.
"You're not expecting her to sit there, are you?" Wang Jin asked in horror.
Jonah and Han Jie looked confused.
"How do you expect us to chat?" Wang Jin asked, pouting.
Jonah swallowed the rude words he was about to say hard. He knew Han Jie would not approve. Jonah looked at Han Jie and saw her discreet nod.
Her stare means, 'Do as she says.'
Jonah resisted the urge to roll his eyes before he slammed the car door shut and opened the back end for them.
Han Jie entered first, giving time for Wang Jin to give Jonah a very triumphant smile. Jonah rolled his eyes at her.
"So, what were you guys talking about in there?" Han Jie asked, genuinely curious.
Wang Jin waved her hand around. "Oh, this and that." She said with a mysterious smile.
"Oy, don't be like that with me." Han Jie said with mock concern. She sat up straighter and pretended to adjust some glasses on her face looking sourly at Wang Jin.
Wang Jin laughed at Han Jie's attempt to act like a therapist.
"Han Mei, trust me. I just went there and didn't talk about much. That was how he just really is. There was no way you can talk to him alone if he did not forgive me. He would rather live me alone there." Wang Jin said with a small smile on her face.
"Really? Well, that must be true. You didn't stay there long enough." Han Jie said, wrinkling her nose.
"See!" Wang Jin said, gloating.
"But," Han Jie began causing Wang Jin to groan. "You still had time to speak, so spill." He finished ignoring the other woman's groan.
Wang Jin tapped on her nose, pretending to think long and hard. Han Jie gave her the puppy eyes look and Wang Jin, who burst out laughing at this again.
'Puppy dog's eyes always works.' Han Jie thought to herself as she grins.
"Oh… Alright, we were talking about the terms of my forgiveness." Wang Jin said after a while.
"Terms of forgiveness? Who puts terms on forgiveness?" Han Jie said, genuinely surprised and outraged.
"He is a businessman." Wang Jin said, trying to soothe Han Jie.
"But you're he is your best friend!" Han Jie cried in surprise.
"Was," Jonah said, still looking at the front, focused on driving. He was also ignoring the simultaneous glares from the women at the back.
"As Jonah said, I was his best friend, and now I'm just a friend hoping to get back to being the best." Wang Jin said, still glaring at Jonah.
"Okay, so tell me the terms. Maybe I can help." Han Jie said quietly.
Wang Jin looked at the other first before she reluctantly replied.
"One, don't hurt Han Mei." She started, raising a finger up to signify the first point.
"That's not so bad." Han Jie stared with a nod. "That'll be easy for you, right?" Han Jie finished smiling hopefully.
The other snorted, "Of course." Wang Jin said with a smile of her own.
Jonah rolled his eyes again and wondered if his eyes were going to get stuck.
"Two?" Han Jie asked, shaking off the cold feeling she felt from Wang Jin's smile.
"I'm blacklisted in the journalism industry." Wang Jin said sadly. The main reason why she was friends with Gu Xi before was because they went to the same University in the same course. Mass Communication.
Her, being blacklisted in the journalism industry was completely hindering her from working there in the future. Wang Jin still agreed and planned to talk to Suzuki Kyou later if there was really a need to work to any television station.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, that's just sad." Han Jie said softly, her eyes were dimming. Then she asked after a moment of silence, "What can I do to help?"
"I'll figure something out." Wang Jin said and sighed softly. " Han Mei, thank you."
Han Jie looked guilty. 'There's got to be something I can do.' She thought before snapping her fingers in joy.
"Let's go shopping some more!" Han Jie suddenly declared. Which the other two did not refuse.
So Jonah drove them to another shopping center.
"I've got it!" Han Jie yelled suddenly. They had just gotten out of the car in the shopping center parking lot, so her yell, startled a lot of people around her.
Han Jie smiled apologetically. She then looked at Wang Jin with a smile, before whispering to her. "I know what to do…"
"What is it, Miss?" Jonah could not help but ask.
"Shhh… Girl talk. Shu-Shu!" Han Jie waved her hand at him, demanding for him to keep some distance.
Jonah looked at her sourly, which she just ignored and continued to speak with Wang Jin softly as they strolled arm in arm into the nearest boutique.
"What?" Wang Jin asked, picking up a dress from the clothes rack and examining it.
"I know a guy who needs some help promoting this artist, and since you can write, I could recommend you to him." Han Jie said while picking up a black sleeveless dress. Though she knew that Wang Jin was rich, it was still not bad to have more connections to get herself busy, right?
Get busy in a way that Wang Jin won't have a chance to bother her or Suzuki Kyou. In all honesty, even though Han Jie did not mind Wang Jin's presence or being her friend, it still did not sit completely well. Why? Cause she's petty and doesn't like to be completely mushy with the sister of her competition.
'Well more like, Han Mei's competition…' Han Jie thought bitterly, that did not show any sign in her current expression.
When she did not hear any response, she looked up and saw their expression.
Jonah was giving her, Are You Crazy?!' look. While the other was looking at her with confusion.
