The sound of the door opening made her turn around. A handsome man in his late twenties walked in, followed hurriedly by her secretary.

" Miss Khemka, I tried to contact you but -- " she began in a flustered tone, looking helplessly at the man in front of him.

' Miss Khemka ' turned around and glared at the unwanted guest. Looking at the man, her face scrunched up in disgust. He was the most cruel, intimidating and emotionless creature that she had heard of and had no intention of meeting of. But, alas, fate had other plans.

" It's all right Nancy, you may leave. " She smiled at her and the secretary left.

Turning back to the man, she caught him smirking at herself, interwining his fingers, he leaned in casually and said in a husky voice, " So, Sofya, what did you call me here for? "

" Call me Miss Khemka, we are not that informal. " She hissed at him, gritting her teeth.

" But we are going to be very soon. " He smirked.

Sofya ignored his comment, opened her drawer and threw something at him. He caught it in his long fingers. Seeing the file, he looked up at her, his chocolate brown eyes gleaming " You want to discuss the clauses?" He asked increduously.

" Yes, I want a few of them amended. " Sofya replied, looking into his eyes directly, levelling her gaze.

He looked up indignantly at Sofya. Indeed, the rumors were true. She was a woman of strength and character. No wonder Emicorp couldn't have reached such heights as it has today.

" What do you want amended? " He asked her casually, flipping the pages.

Just then her phone rang.

" A minute." With that, Sofya picked up her phone and talked into it. She gave the orders rapidly as if she was born to lead. Her voice was clear and soft.

' The man ' observed her. So, it indeed was true. Any man would have felt blessed to have the fortune to marry The Sofya Khemka, but he did not have any particular feelings, nor did he harbor any harmful intentions towards her. This marriage was just a contract, an alliance between the two families, in fact two of the most powerful families in New York, one could say that.

She did not love him, he did not love her. They were the exact opposites in their principles. Perhaps, it was true. The North and the South Pole magnets did really attract each other. But then again what choice did they have. It was already pre decided.

A hint of sunlight slanted through the side window highlighting her beautiful features. She had large oval black eyes that seemed to pierce you with every look, as if they could look directly into your soul, her pink lustrous lips which could seduce anyone and black hair that hung around in waves, giving her the perfect face of an angel.

The man shrugged himself out of his thoughts. Who was he kidding? He wasn't about to fall for her, no matter what. He had promised himself that he would not fall into this vicious trap of ' love ' again, no matter what the circumstances. First time was painful enough, he was not going to fall for this ' future wife ' of his.

As he was thinking this, the door of the office suddenly opened and Mr. Khemka barged in. Both Sofya and the man, looked up and surprise was etched on their faces. The man quickly hid the file in one of the front drawers and smiling, got up and stretched his hand out " Mr. Khemka, it's a pleasure to meet you. Wasn't expecting to run into you today. "

" Please call me grandpa, after all you both are getting married. " Mr. Khemka smiled profusely, shaking his hand.

Sofya rolled her eyes.

Putting down the phone, she asked in a low voice " Grandpa, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be somewhere else? "
