Long Yu's eyebrows raised when he heard this. He hurriedly took out a picture of a woman and showed it to the teenager. "Is this the person you are talking about?"
"Ah, yes! That's our leader-" the boy's eyes widened in realisation as he suddenly changed his tone, "Y- you are not here to arrest her are you?"
"Don't worry, I'm not from the military nor do I work for these unsavoury fellows," he said while pointing behind him. "This woman, Chen Yu Fei, is someone I know and I'm just here to rescue her."
"Oh, that's good then…" the teenager with the spectacles seemed relieved after hearing that.
"More importantly, what happened to your friend over there? She doesn't look too good," Long Yu asked as he pointed towards the female teenager who was lying on the table.
The girl, whose top was exposed with only her undergarment on, seemed to be in a serious condition. There was a wound on her shoulder which was covered with a blood-soaked cloth.
"She was attacked by one of the monsters when we tried to escape, which caused her to lose a lot of blood. Even though we already stopped her bleeding and performed a temporary blood transfusion, she's still in critical condition. That is why our leader, uh, Miss Chen, decided to take the risk and retrieve some supplies from the medical bay," the boy quickly explained.
In truth, this was the first time the teenager and his group learned of their leader's name. Her cold personality always made it hard for others to approach, so they never managed to ask for her real name all this while.
"I see… So how long has it been since Miss Chen left?" Long Yu asked as he walked towards injured girl on the table.
"Its, its been more than a day already. Maybe she…" the teen's words trailed off as his mood turned gloomy.
Long Yu kept silent as he removed the bloodied cloth on the girl's shoulder.
'No wonder, the wound is infected… There is already pus leaking out,' he thought while examining the girl's shoulder.
"Hey old man, how are your medical skills?" he asked the old researcher without looking back.
"Ah? It's passable I guess…" the researcher listlessly replied.
Hearing this, Long Yu beckoned the old man to his side and passed him a small bag, while keeping hidden from the view of the survivors. "Inside are all the tools and medicine you will need. There's an instruction manual for some of the items in case don't know how to use them."
"Ah? Why would I need instructions to use them?"
The researcher was puzzled since even with his limited medical knowledge, he assumed he would have no problem handling standard medical tools.
Little did he know that the bag that Long Yu handed him contained medical supplies that were several times more effective than normal medicine. Ranging from a medi-gel substance that can stop bleeding within seconds, to a handheld scanner that can obtain live x-ray imaging of the body, those were precious items that any doctor would die for.
Of course, these things were nothing compared to the miraculous healing property of the blood fruit, but they were enough for the current situation.
Not long after, Long Yu left the control room and continued his search for Xixi's mother.
Considering he had already searched more than two-thirds of the facility, it wouldn't be long until he finally bump into her.
Nevertheless, he felt a little worried since the system showed that Xixi's mother's coordinates would occasionally fluctuate. This meant that she was on the move, possible battling or running away from something.
...
*Huff* *Huff*
The sound of someone taking deep breaths softly echoed in an isolated corner of the facility.
A figure leaned her back on the cold metal wall as she held her mangled left arm. It seemed to be forcefully twisted, causing the bones inside to break and pierce out of her skin.
Apart from her arm, several parts of her body also suffered deep cut wounds.
This figure was the person Long Yu was looking for, Chen Yu Fei, or more accurately, Xixi's mother. She had been fighting and running for more than a day without rest. This caused his stamina and awareness to plummet, resulting in a severe injury when she was ambushed by a mutated experiment that had been stalking her.
*Krrrrr*
A sudden deep and long clicking noise caught Chen Yu Fei's attention. She was familiar with this unique sound, as it was produced by the very creature that left her arm in such a condition.
"This bastard finally shows itself when it no longer sees me as a threat, huh…" she cursed under her breath.

If it wasn't for those earlier battles wearing her out, Chen Yu Fei would not have fallen for the creature's ambush.
Unfortunately, this particular mutated experiment was unusually cunning. It would always avoid direct confrontation with her and only strike out whenever she wasn't paying attention.
Chen Yu Fei had no choice but to divert her attention during her battles, causing her to accumulate many injuries.
