Chapter 67 - They had Offended Someone

Shangguan Zheng folded the newspaper and thought of the only time that he had had the opportunity to meet Jing Zhongxiu, the President of Jingsheng Enterprise.

He was experienced, calm, powerful and capable. In fact he did not seem to have any obvious weaknesses. Jing Zhongxu’s extraordinary capability could be easily seen when one saw the scale to which Jingsheng Enterprise had developed, under his expertise.

He had heard that Jing Zhongxiu’s son took over the mantle of President of Jingsheng Enterprise recently, and within a few weeks of joining office, he successfully managed to vanquish powerful Family Ji’s Enterprise by buying out Star Media. That too at a price much lower than the market rate.

There were also talks that the new President was planning to invest some capital into Family Mu’s Hospital, which was a prestigious charitable hospital in A City. After the investment, Jingsheng Enterprise would hold 30 % shares of Family Mu’s Hospital.

Family Yang – a business enterprise, owned by Yang Wenshu’s family was also keen on investing into Family Mu’s Hospital. However, Jinsheng Enterprise always managed to be a step ahead. Family Yang’s Enterprise had lost out on the opportunity of making this prudent investment, on more than one occasion, thanks to Jinsheng Enterprises.

Shangguan Zheng wondered how he could fix up a meeting with the new President of Jingsheng Enterprise, and convince him to fund his re-election campaign. Just then, his wife, daughter and Family Xie entered the waiting lounge with an unhappy expression on their faces.

“What happened?” Shangguan Zheng asked, slightly confused.

No one knew how to answer the question, when Shangguan Rouxue bit her lip and replied, “Daddy, we were not allowed to check-in to any hotel here. We don’t know why. You are the most able of all of us, and so well connected to people in positions of power. Would you please look it into this matter?”

“What?” Shangguan Zheng no longer wore a relaxed expression.

That was impossible.

Who would have had such power to be able to ensure that no hotels in the entire N City would want to take them in? Who would’ve had hated them with such bitterness so as to cause them such inconvenience.

Shangguan Zheng realized instantly that they had offended someone really powerful. He could deduce this from the experience of being in the political circle for so long.

He did not want to make a scene at the airport and this was definitely not a place to have a discussion. His expression turned bitter and he said, “Let’s talk about it at home. Lets go get all the tickets in order first.”

By now they had all come to the same realization as Shangguan Zheng, that they had ruffled the feathers of someone in power. It wasn’t a mere coincidence that they had been turned down by all the hotels in the city. They had wanted to continue with their vacation but now they had no choice but to take the flight back home. They got to the ticket counter and waited for their turn, in silence and frustration.

Xie Zhuojun was dumbstruck by the events of the day. Every hotel or resort they had tried to book, turned them away in a few minutes. How could it be possible that every hotel in the city was fully booked. In the midst of all this confusion, the increasingly beautiful face of Shangguan Ning’s flashed across his mind. Could it have been her?

Wasn’t it strange – they had been able to check into the resort the day before, but after the showdown with her, all this happened? All the hotels suddenly turned them down.

No No.. he was being unrealistic!

Shangguan Ning didn’t have that much power, and even if she did, she couldn’t have been so heartless. Although she hated him for abandoning her, yet Xie Zhuojun felt that she wouldn’t be so cruel as to embarrass him to this extent.

During their courtship, she would always put him first, even before herself.

Something didn’t feel right about the evening he met her. He felt uncomfortable even at the thought of the strange man she was with that day. He didn’t seem right. He hoped that Shangguan Ning would have the sense to leave such a cold and dangerous authoritarian.

What a sad way to end a holiday!

Shangguan Ning was oblivious to their state of penury. She and Jing Yichen spent an entire week in N City. They were tanned and happy when they finally returned to A City .

Both of them resumed work on the eighth day of the New Year. Shangguan Ning was up very early and started to get ready for work.

Jing Yichen smiled, as he pinched her shapely nose. “You seem more diligent than your President!”

Shangguan Ning rolled her eyes at him. “You are a big President. I am only small fish. Just an Assistant. Who would pay me if I don’t work diligently? I will have to work even harder in future. So it would be nice, Mr.President, if you allow your staff to give their best to work.”

Her relationship with Jing Yichen had progressed rapidly after spending a week with him in N City. The invisible walls between them seemed to have vanished. She would now hold hands with him, out of her own accord or lean against his shoulder ever so often. Even their conversations and behaviours were easy and free-flowing. Their comfort was as if they had known each other for ages.

However, they still managed to keep their relationship fresh and their chemistry, crackling. Shangguan Ning loved it.

“Are you trying to replace me by working so hard? Don’t be so ambitious!”

Shangguan Ning smirked. “Hmmph! The soldiers who don’t want to become a general, are not good soldiers!”

Jing Yichen liked it when Shangguan Ning was sort of capricious. He loved to spoil her and this kind of behaviour made her even more endearing to him.

He smiled lightly, lifted her exquisite chin and planted a kiss upon her fresh and lustful lips. He spun his tongue and tangled it with hers, absorbing the scent that belonged to her.

He soon let go of her lips and turned his attention to her earlobes. Shangguan Ning was still breathless. She was really sensitive to his touch.

His warm hands brought a sense of numbness to Shangguan Ning like an electric current, draining the strength out of her body completely.

“Don’t… time to work…” She spilled out the disjointed words with all her strength, only to realize that this husky voice didn’t sound like her at all.

Jing Yichen removed his teeth and asked in a low voice, “Baby, has it… finished?”

Shangguan Ning knew what he meant, so she instantly felt embarrassed and furious. She refused to say anything and clenched her teeth.

She had got her period when they were in N City. That was why Jing Yichen’s evil plan didn’t work out back then, and now he started to ask her anxiously.

Jing Yichen noticed that she was keeping her mouth closed yet flushing.

He evilly massaged her sensitive part with his long fingers so that she couldn’t help but let out a low cry.

“Is it finished?” He asked persistently, refusing to stop massaging.

Shangguan Ning never expected that this man could be so shameless. She couldn’t stand his flirty behavior and answered in a very light voice, “Hmm”.

Her voice was so low as the buzzing of a mosquito, yet Jing Yichen caught it clearly.

He kissed her plump, red lips with satisfaction, adjusted her shirt that had gotten messy and told her in a low voice, “Be good, and wait for me tonight.”
