Shangguan Ning had no idea that Tang Yun had been visiting the enterprise, every single day.
It was the busiest time of the year, at Jingsheng Enterprise. Everyone was busy focusing on work. Tang Yun had attracted a great deal of attention by standing there. Shangguan Ning could imagine how all the employees must be gossiping about this, behind closed doors.
This was beginning to affect the day to day working of the enterprise, especially the women, who wouldn’t stop discussing it. Just like Mi Xiaoxiao.
She turned to Mi Xiaoxiao and said with a smile, “It is alright. I’ll handle it. You get back to work. What are you worried about? It’s not as if she’s eyeing your husband.”
“Forget me. It’s you I’m worried about. When are you getting divorced? Get divorced as soon as possible and just marry the President. I’ve had enough of this woman. She’s beginning to irritate me.”
Shangguan Ning didn’t have time to argue with her. She walked to the front desk.
She didn’t talk with Tang Yun, but spoke with Anna, the receptionist, directly. “Why is the guest not made to sit in the guestroom? What is the point of making her stand here?”
Anna was startled. Shangguan Ning usually spoke with her in a friendly tone, but she sounded quite serious today, even a bit formidable.
She thought for a moment and understood what Shangguan Ning meant. Shangguan Ning had made an indirect jibe at Tang Yun and wanted her to leave.
Anna looked at Ning helplessly. She spoke with Shangguan Ning softly, but was audible enough for Tang Yun to be able to listen in.
“Assistant Shangguan, Ms. Tang doesn’t want to be seated in the guest room. She only wants to wait here. My repeated requests to her have yielded no result.”
Only now did Shangguan Ning turn to Tang Yun and say politely, “Ms. Tang, please wait in the guest room if you are waiting for someone. Jingsheng always treats special guests with utmost respect. You shouldn’t be standing at the reception, otherwise someone would think you are a random saleswoman.”
Tang Yun flushed with embarrassment, but she didn’t want to lose her cool in front of the staff. She wouldn’t give up so easily.
“Assistant Shangguan, I am your President’s fiancée. He asked me to come here today. You have the cheek to talk with me in this way? You’d better watch out. My husband might just give you a pay cut.”
Tang Yun was good-looking and had a good personality. Even her anger added to her beauty. Anyone would fall for her charms.
Shangguan Ning’s heart felt rather uncomfortable, hearing Tang Yun use the word ‘husband’ for Jing Yichen.
Jing Yichen was her husband. Only she could call him “husband”. Tang Yun’s way of addressing him made her shiver.
She scolded Jing Yichen a thousand times, in her heart – he was responsible for all this mess, why should she be the one to clean it up. How unreasonable!
But Shangguan Ning would not allow Tang Yun to have the last word.
“I am so sorry, Ms. Tang. I didn’t get any such instructions from the President. So you may please leave now.”
She said as she turned to Anna, “Get the security, and see Ms. Tang out. We don’t want any more sales people just walking in here.”
Four tall and strong security personnel arrived immediately. They held Tang Yun by her arms and were about to lead her out. It didn’t matter if she was the President’s fiancée.
Tang Yun was livid with anger.
She wouldn’t let all her effort go to waste. She refused to be driven off by some random security staff.
After showing up at the Enterprise, every single day, for the past week, she had finally managed to meet Shangguan Ning. She mustn’t waste this opportunity.
Just as the security guards were leading her out, she said to Shangguan Ning, “I need to talk with you. Get them off me!”
Shangguan Ning waved her hands and stopped the security guards.
She hadn’t wanted to pay any attention to her, but there were so many bystanders watching them. Apparently, Tang Yun’s repeated visits at the Enterprise had seriously distracted the staff from their work.
This was Jing Yichen’s family business. She didn’t want Tang Yun to ruin it by creating a scene, so she nodded in acknowledgement and turned away.
Tang Yun glared at the security personnel. She then adjusted her outfit and followed Shangguan Ning into the guest room.
When they entered the guest room, Shangguan Ning poured a glass of water for herself, but didn’t offer one to Tang Yun. Instead, she said, “Ms. Tang, just say what you need to say. Let’s not waste time.”
Before Tang Yun came here, she had imagined various scenarios in her head, about her first meeting with Shangguan Ning. What she didn’t expect was that Shanguan Ning would be so calm and unaffected by Tang Yun’s behaviour. She wasn’t the least bit threatened by Tang Yun.
She felt challenged by Shangguan Ning’s indifference attitude. Ning appeared overconfident, as if she had already won. Tang Yun sat down on the sofa and said provokingly, “You have been avoiding me for the last few days. It seems as though you know about me. I’m so sorry that I don’t know you. Jing Yichen has never mentioned you whenever we meet. I apologise.”
“How did you know of me, if he didn’t mention me?” Shangguan Ning asked, calmly.
Tang Yun was speechless. She didn’t care that she had messed up. Instead, she continued confidently, “Do you know why he treats me so nicely? He has been looking for me for the past ten years. He didn’t want to be with any other woman, because of me. Do you think he has no feelings for me? Do you think that what he felt for me was transient?”
Her words hit Shangguan Ning with such force that her face paled.
Tang Yun noticed her reaction. She smiled proudly.
“If both of us were drowning, whom do you think he would rescue first? There’s no doubt that it would definitely be me.”
Tang Yun laughed at Shangguan Ning, mockingly. She seemed quite satisfied with the effect that here words were having on Ning.
Shangguan Ning didn’t believe Tang Yun, but her body language showed her discomfort.
She had never asked Jing Yichen why Tang Yun was so special to him.
Every time she asked him about his past, he had said that his past was too complicated and he would tell her about everything at the right time..
She had been waiting for the right time, patiently.
Lately, both of them had been so caught up with their own responsibilities, that they had been unable to discuss all this.
“I got to know him when I was sixteen. He was Prince Charming and all the girls swooned over him. He didn’t care about anyone else except for me.”
“I know him like the back of my hands. He has many small habits and quirks, which only I know well.”
“Do you know why he always carries a white handkerchief with him?”
Shangguan Ning looked up instantly, hearing these words. Her eyes were full of anger and hatred. Her calm demeanour vanished.
She recollected that Jing Yichen had a habit of carrying a handkerchief with him, at all times. She had even asked him about this before. Most people, especially men these days, hardly ever carried a handkerchief.
Did this habit have something to do with Tang Yun?
