The ingredients at Zhao Anan’s home had been bought by the servants of Family Zhao. Zhao Zhao knew that her daughter was celebrating her birthday and that a bunch of her friends would be there. So she had things delivered in the morning but she didn’t come there herself because she didn’t want to disturb the young people’s party.
But she hadn’t known that Zhao Anan’s servants were sick, otherwise she would have sent the chef alongwith the ingredients.
Zhao Zhao had given a very generous present for her daughter’s birthday. She not only gave Zhao Anan a large necklace of rare Buddhism pearls with the blessing of a master monk but also sent expensive ruby necklaces for Shangguan Ning and Zheng Lun. She had given Shangguan Ning and Zheng Lun lovely presents, but what she had given to her daughter was both expensive and full of the most fervent wish of a mother – she hoped that the pearls could bless her daughter so that she could be safe and happy.
Zhao Anan had the pearl necklace worth millions over her neck when she started to help around excitedly.
Mu Qing was very happy being next to her.
But when Mu Qing was helping Zhao Anan, Zheng Jing was not free either.
The ingredients which Family Zhao delivered were fresh and comprehensive, including everything such as fish, meat, vegetables and other seafood.
He looked through the ingredients and then pulled out a fresh fish, washed it and placed it upon the cutting board. He started to pull off the bones carefully. Zheng Lun had been fond of fish since she was young. As long as fish was available, she would be very happy.
Zheng Jing had a square shaped face with a straight long bridged nose. But it was his eyes which held a profound expression in them always.
He was tall and due to years of exercise and training, he was muscular and strong. He was wearing his navy blue uniform due to his prior visit to Family Jing. The uniform made him look smarter than his usual handsome self.
Zheng Jing had graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst which was established by the joint forces of Royal Military Academy and Royal Military College. It was one of the top four military schools in the world, as prestigious as West Point where high quality officers were cultivated every year.
Jing Yichen had studied at the Military Academy earlier and that was how he had gotten to know Zheng Jing. But Jing Yichen finished the entire course in one year and left after that.
Zheng Jing graduated from the Academy with excellent marks as well. He was offered to become a commander of ground forces the moment he returned home, but Zheng Jing turned down the offer and returned to A City where he became an excellent homicide policeman.
No one understood why he had made that choice because he was too capable to just be an ordinary policeman in A City.
But his parents supported him. In this way, their son would not need to stay in the army far away from them. That made them very happy and they didn’t care about how high the position could have been.
Zheng Lun was the happiest when Zheng Jing had returned.
Seeing the unconcealed joy on the beautifully face of his sister, Zheng Jing had felt that everything was worth the while.
The only reason why he turned down the offer of being a commander of ground forces and returned to A City to become an ordinary policeman in A City was because of his sister, Zheng Lun.
But this naive Zheng Lun was never going to understand what Zheng Jing had given up for her.
What she knew was that her brother was right beside her.
Wonderful smell of food arose in the kitchen. The room had become steamy because of the food being cooked.
Zheng Lun was totally immersed in the way her brother behaved. Zheng Jing looked rather serious when he didn’t talk.
Zheng Lun, however, felt that her brother was the gentlest man who was never fierce.
He was gentle when he talked with her. He was gentle when he picked the dresses and shoes for her. He was even gentle even when he scolded her.
When he was making the food at this moment, he was gentle as well.
She knew that he was making the fish for her, because he himself preferred beef and the thick soup of rib bones.
But what Zheng Jing didn’t know was that Zheng Lun liked fish because of him.
Because Zheng Jing would pick the bones for her very carefully every time they ate fish. He wouldn’t give the meat to her until all the bones were gone. He didn’t need to do anything with any other dishes, so fish was the only dish that could help Zheng Lun to have more interaction with her brother.
Zheng Lun couldn’t stop herself from behaving in this manner. She loved fish, but she loved Zheng Jing more. She loved him so much that she had almost gone crazy and lost herself.
Zheng Jing had made fish dishes for his sister many times, so he was very proficient in dealing with the meat. In order to make sure that the bones wouldn’t bother his sister, he would remove all the bones before putting the fish into the pot.
Seeing him do so now for her, Zheng Lun couldn’t help but get excited. She knew that she mustn’t fall for her own brother, but she just couldn’t control her emotions. Her heart was spinning out of control and her love was getting stronger and deeper.
She could see nobody else apart from him.
Zheng Lun stared at him intensely.
Due to his profession, Zheng Jing was attuned to all that happened around him. He had already noticed that Zheng Lun was staring at him in this way.
Zheng Jing let out a soft sigh inside his heart. “Oh, my silly sister. Do you know how much self control do I have to exert to hold myself back from looking at you?”
“Lun, get me a scallion.”
If his sister stared at him in such a transfixed way, everyone else would notice it really soon, as well.
He didn’t want anyone else to misunderstand his sister, so he asked her to help around. She would be distracted if she had something to keep herself busy.
“Ah?” Zheng Lun got startled and then came back to her senses after hearing what her brother said. “Oh, okay, I will get one for you!”
She turned her back towards Zheng Jing. He used this opportunity to look at her slender shape with care and gentleness in his eyes.
Zheng Lun liked wearing dresses, because Zheng Jing had once mentioned that she looked like a beautiful princess in a dress. So from that moment on, she only wore dresses, no matter how cold it was.
