Mo Lan was in the middle of feeding the two parrots which her husband had brought from the Amazon.
She waved to her beloved grandson at the sight of him. “Ran, come and listen to the new words that parrots have picked up from the TV. They are hilarious.”
Jing Yiran walked forward and said to the two parrots, “What have you learnt, Little and Beauty? Say something to me!”
Jing Yiran had named these two parrots, so that they sounded like “Little Beauty” together.
He was here often, so the parrots knew him well. They started shouting at the sight of him. “Second Master, good-looking!”
Jing Yiran’s sexy lips curved. “This is an old phrase. Get a new one!”
Little Beauty ignored him and continued to shout “Second Master, good-looking”. A long while later, Little suddenly shouted, “I want you!”
Soon Beauty shouted too. “I will fight with you!”
Jing Yiran burst into laughter and Mo Lan also started laughing so hard that tears trickled out of her eyes.
After they played with the parrots for a few more moments, Jing Yiran helped Mo Lan sit down on the sofa.
He said with a serious expression, “Grandma, I am going to ask you for one thing. Can you give it to me?”
Mo Lan smiled and asked, “What do you want?”
“Your shares. Can you give them to me?” Jing Yiran was speaking in a cajoling tone like a little boy asking his parents for candies.
Mo Lan’s expression didn’t change. She was still wearing a smile as if she had expected to hear this request from her grandson.
She loved her grandson deeply and treated him better than Jing Zhongxiu did. She gave him everything she could and defended him as much as she could too, so that he could have a carefree life in Family Jing. But she was not a silly woman. She knew exactly what her grandson was up to.
He was a boy she had brought up. How could she have no idea of what he was planning?
She had only been pretending that she knew nothing.
She loved this grandson, because his birth had come at the cost of her daughter-in-law’s life. She had always treated him as a precious treasure.
His mistakes were nothing in her eyes. After all, what he wanted to do was to become like Jing Yichen.
During the past few days, he had stopped going outside or hang with women in the bar. Instead, he was keeping her company, patiently at home.
Mo Lan had understood then itself that her grandson wanted to get something from her.
He couldn’t possibly have become someone else overnight. He was an impatient man who would not choose to chitchat with her and do all kinds of boring things with her for no reason.
But she had not expected that Jing Yiran would spell out his purpose in such a straightforward manner. She had thought that he would tell the truth after taking various roundabouts.
“Ran, as you know I have 10% shares. I will give you half of those, what do you think?”
As a matter of fact, Jing Yiran had guessed one thing wrong.
Mo Lan had wanted to divide her shares into half and give them to each of her grandsons, but after being scolded by Jing Yichen the other day, she changed her mind.
Now she wanted to give all the shares to only Jing Yichen.
She had felt really guilty towards Jing Yichen for a very long time.
Jing Yichen was absolutely right. He should hate her. She was the one who caused his mother’s death because of which he never had anyone to call “mom”.
Mo Lan loved Jing Yichen as much as Jing Yiran. But no matter how much she did, Jing Yichen never became close to her. He was always so cold and it was so difficult to get into his heart.
Therefore, she ended up favouring Jing Yiran.
At least, Jing Yiran would lean into her arms as a spoiled child and would pamper her and keep her company, for whatever purpose.
Jing Yichen had started to get further and further away from her once he turned ten.
He always looked at her from a distance. He never wanted to get close to anyone or allow anyone to get close to him since then.
Mo Lan knew that the reason why he had turned into such a man was solely because of hers.
So she wanted to give all of her shares to Jing Yichen to make it up to him.
Jing Yiran was brought by her as a spoiled child and he had not lost anything. She had nothing to feel guilty for, towards him.
But Jing Yiran had been behaving so abnormally during the past few days and it suddenly struck her that Jing Yiran desired those shares more than Jing Yichen.
So she made up her mind to divide the shares between the two brothers, equally.
However, Jing Yiran was not satisfied with only 5%. He wanted to get 10%, leaving none for Jing Yichen!
“Grandma, brother has already got so many shares and even if you give me the entire 10%, he won’t be affected by it.”
Jing Yiran squatted down by Mo Lan’s side as he used to do and placed his head upon her knees.
Everytime Jing Yiran got injured because of Jing Yichen, he would come crying to Mo Lan so that she could seek justice for him. Every time, he would put his head upon her knees, crying and pleading in a wronged tone.
He knew where Mo Lan’s weakness and drawbacks lay. He also understood that Mo Lan would have figured out what he wanted when he kept her company during the past few days.
What Mo Lan expected to see was that Jing Yichen and he could be in a harmonious relationship like brothers and take Family Jing to a higher level rather than keep fighting with each other. Therefore, he didn’t address Jing Yichen by name but called him “brother” instead.
He was confident that he was able to get all the shares.
“Ran, I understand that these shares are nothing for your brother, because he has got more than 50% of the shares. He is now an absolute shareholder with Jingsheng under his complete control. He won’t be affected by my shares whether or not I give him any. But I am his grandma, and I have to show some of my love. I favor you more, but he has gone through so much bitterness since he was young. He lost his mother. I have to give him something. This is what I am supposed to do.”
“Also, I have not given him much as a grandma. But you have almost got every good thing of mine so much so that I have almost lost all the properties.”
Mo Lan had belonged to a wealthy family before marriage as well. Her dowry was abundant and had never been touched by Jing Tianyuan after she married into Family Jing. She had full control of her dowry so after years of development, her personal properties had the net worth in billions.
A large part of those properties had been given to Jing Yiran.
The Royal Crown restaurant which he built as the most luxurious restaurant in A City was constructed upon the land that belonged to Mo Lan. When she heard that her grandson was going to open a restaurant, she had given the best land to him, gladly.
Also, on Jing Yiran’s birthday every year, she would give large presents to him, such as real estate, land properties or shares of some company.
