Chapter 492 - To Live or Die Part One

Jing Rui was still a little baby. After getting excited for a while, he fell asleep in Jing Zhongxiu’s arms.

He was an obedient child except when he was hungry. He did not wail or make noise. He was simply adorable. Zhao Zhao kept saying that Jing Rui was a good boy and that she had never seen such a docile boy in her life. She said that Zhao Anan had been quite noisy when she was young. She always wanted to be fed and even after being fed, she still made noise. She always kept worrying people.

Jing Zhongxiu also thought that his grandson was very well-behaved, and his affection for Jing Rui increased multifold.

Seeing his grandson nestled in his arms, he felt his heart turn into a puddle. He wanted to keep holding him forever.

He had a completely different attitude towards his grandson when compared to his son. He thought that it had been necessary to be strict towards Jing Yichen. But he hesitated when he had Jing Rui in his arms.

He was concerned that he wouldn’t be able to treat Jing Rui in the same way that he had treated Jing Yichen.

Reluctant, Jing Zhongxiu placed Jing Rui back on the bed and suggested that Jing Yichen should come with him to the studyroom.

Father and son sat down in the study and immediately their relaxed expressions were gone.

“Don’t worry about Jing Yiran. I will punish him this time.”

Jing Zhongxiu felt guilty towards his son.

Jing Yiran always did extreme things, and even dared to kidnap Shangguan Ning in her pregnant stage because of which she and Jing Rui almost died.

If he had not shown mercy to Jing Yiran all this while, Jing Rui and Shangguan Ning would not have run into such a huge danger.

He owed Jing Yiran nothing now.

In fact, no one owed anything to Jing Yiran, neither Jing Yichen nor Shangguan Ning and definitely not Jing Rui.

“The declaration has not been acquired yet. It must be in Yang Muyan’s hands. But she doesn’t want to admit that she has it in her possession. If we kill her now, we won’t get it back so we have to let her live for the time being.”

Yang Muyan would never hand over the declaration even if her life was threatened. She must have given it to someone else, so that even if she died, that person could publicise it.

There was no legal binding to give up rights of inheritance by using such declarations but this had been a tradition in the big families, so it could cause sensation.

However, according to the customs, such a declaration was only credible when the heir announced it himself. The public would always suspect the authenticity of the declaration if it was announced by someone else.

Jing Yichen thought for a while and said, “Declaration is not important. Even if I give up the rights of inheritance, Jing Rui would be the next heir instead of anyone else!”

Jing Zhongxiu suddenly felt his perspective shift. He brightened up.

True, Jing Yichen had written the declaration before Jing Rui was born, so when he gave up the rights of inheritance, no one was available to inherit the Jing Family. But now, he had the rights even though he was just a small baby.

Jing Zhongxiu was healthy and strong at the moment, so he could take over the family affairs. When Jing Rui grew up, he would head the Jing Family, anyway.

Even if the declaration came into effect, Jing Yichen would not be affected. Jing Zhongxiu and Jing Tianyuan could always give Jing Yichen the enormous properties of the Jing Family in secret.

Jing Yichen no longer cared if he would inherit the Jing Family.

Previously, he kept his eyes on the right of inheritance to keep Jing Yiran away because he thought that everything of the Jing Family should belong to him. Jing Yiran was an outsider, a child born out of wedlock, who should not inherit anything from the Jing Family.

Now that Jing Zhongxiu had thrown Jing Yiran out of the family, he had no excuse to touch anything of theirs, any more.

As long as the properties of the Jing Family were not given to Jing Yiran, Jing Yichen would not be affected if he was not the heir.

Everything would be passed down to Jing Rui!

“Dad, it doesn’t matter if the declaration is announced. All it would mean is that you will have to step forward to deal with family affairs. I will definitely gain back the shares of Jingsheng Enterprise, but I must clarify one important thing to you here.”

Jing Zhongxiu was more or less aware of what he was about to say. Without changing his expression, he said calmly, “Spill it.”

“He has broken the boundary and now there is no need to keep my oath. I can’t allow him to live any longer!”

He was referring to Jing Yiran.

Jing Yichen never informed Jing Zhongxiu of whatever he planned to do, and would always do as per his will. He had always hated Jing Yiran and wished him dead, not because Zhang Rong had caused Zhao Qing’s death, but because Jing Yiran had caused Jing Yichen too much harm, time and again.

Jing Zhongxiu looked at his mature son, whom he loved above all and on whom he had spent all his life cultivating him. He was proud of him, he was an excellent man now!

He did not stop Jing Yichen any more. Instead, he showed a calm smile. “You have never been hesitant about what you plan to do, and you always know what you want. Do whatever you wish to. Jing Yiran is not my son any more.”

Jing Yiran had become a man with no bottomline, and letting him live would cause endless trouble.

Jing Zhongxiu used to let go of whatever Jing Yiran did earlier but he could not tolerate that Jing Yiran even thought about harming Jing Rui!

Jing Rui was just a baby, who had no way of defending himself. Jing Rui would be in constant danger if Jing Yiran wanted to take revenge.

So, he better die.

Jing Yichen had been prepared that Jing Zhongxiu would turn down his idea and that he would kill Jing Yiran, anyway. Unexpectedly, however, Jing Zhongxiu supported him.

It seemed that whatever Jing Yiran did, had hurt Jing Zhongxiu deeply.

Jing Yichen let out a sigh of relief.

He did not want to turn against Jing Zhongxiu because their relationship had just started to improve and they were getting on well with each other, with respect and love between them, like an ordinary father and son.

Jing Yichen didn’t realize how deeply his father loved him until he became a father himself!

He did not want to cut off this relationship and it was because of this reason that he had been worried about upsetting Jing Zhongxiu.
