He then turned to all the people in the dining room and stood up while apologizing.
"Something came up at home so I'll have to return back right now! I'm very sorry for leaving mid-way and being a disturbance!"
Wang Yuju lowered her head slightly and slowly spoke in a low voice, "It's okay. You don't have to apologize."
Li Ming took a last glance at her before excusing himself and leaving the house. After he left, the group at the dining table started chatting.
Father Wang looked at Wang Yuju with worry in his eyes as he asked.
"Is it alright at the company? Are you facing any kind of troubles there?"
Wang Yuju smiled as she shook her head. "Dad, rest assured. With you and Grandpa guiding me, there will be no any troubles for me."
Grandpa Wang gently rubbed her head with a doting and tender expression on his usually stern face.
He peered at her dazedly as if he was in a trance. He then murmured with a hint of nostalgia in his eyes.
"You really resemble your late grandma.. When she was young, she captivated my heart with her confident yet humble personality, which you have inherited from her."
Xia Meng chimed in with a wide grin, "If Yuju takes after her grandma then her grandma must've been very beautiful just like her!"
She continued while looking at Mother Wang, "Yuju also takes after Auntie Wang in terms of beauty and temperament!"
Mother Wang laughed as she said, "Meng'meng, you take after your mother too! You look just like her!"
Suddenly everyone in the table froze, hearing her words. Even the usually cheerful Xia Meng's eyes dimmed slightly.
Noticing her mistake, Mother Wang hastily apologized, "Xiao Meng'meng, Auntie didn't mean to say that.. I accidentally.."
Xia Meng smiled at her and cut her off politely, "Auntie, it's okay."
'Because I no longer care.'
Hence, the breakfast in the table resumed.
---
Xia Meng walked along the street as she hung her head low. Mother Wang's words kept ringing in her head.
[You resemble your mother too! You look just like her!]
She reached out and touched her own face. Bitterly smiling, she sneered. 'Heh, this face is the only good thing that woman left behind.'
She suddenly became frustrated as she recalled countless memories of her past. She saw an empty can in front of her and kicked it forcefully.
The can flew in the air with the impact of her powerful kick, perfectly landing inside the trashcan, the place where it belonged to.
As she spotted a familiar black car parked nearby (which was obviously waiting for her), Xia Meng walked towards it, opened the door and sat inside coldly.
The driver had been waiting for a very long time so he was dazed, seeing his missy abruptly appearing. Hence, it took him several minutes to start the car.
She looked up at the big mansion and her eyes grew duller and duller.
This house was her nightmare.
If she could, she'd never choose to come here.
If it weren't for the last bit of her indebtedness towards that pair of heartless couple for birthing her, she would've already left this place by now.
Xia Meng pursed her lips and finally entered the Xia Manor. The maids and servants inside saw her and immediately greeted her.
The interior of Xia Manor was very luxurious, classy and extravagant, which proved just how rich the Xia Family was.
But for her, this mansion was only an empty shell which was just decorated to the finest.
After all, it was so hollow and dead, compared to the lively Wang Household. This was why she preferred being there instead of here.
This place was never a "home" for her..
Xia Meng always felt suffocated in this lonely and cold manor, which only had robot-like workers moving around.
She'd rather spend the whole day in the noisy club than be here for a single minute.
Xia Meng made her way to her room and locked the door. Looking at the gloomy and dark room, she felt even more suffocated.
She quickly drew the curtains to let in the sunlight and the room instantly turned bright which calmed down her nerves a little.
Xia Meng then went to the bathroom to take a shower.
After showering, she proceeded to dry her hair with a towel as she scrolled down her WeiBo. One trending latest news article caught her eyes.
[Breaking News: The Wei Family and three other families have mysteriously disappeared from China in just one night! Which Big Boss did they exactly offend?]
She paused her actions and furrowed her brows. Wei Family? Wasn't that the family where that Wei Shichuan was from??
At the same time, the phone in her bed started vibrating.
She reached out for it and answered the call when she saw a familiar caller ID [Little Keke].
"Hello?"
Ji Keke's excited voice came through the phone.
"Big Missy, you're so brilliant! You made the four families of those four dogs, who offended you last night, disappear in just one night!"
Xia Meng was puzzled. Her delicate brows knitted as she said, "...You weren't the one who made them disappear?"
Ji Keke's equally confused voice rang.
"...No, I just kicked them out and told them to leave. They wouldn't have disappeared so early right?"
He paused before he asked abruptly, "Wait.. So, Big Missy Xia, you weren't the one who did the work then??"
Xia Meng pursed her lips as she frowned. "No, I didn't do anything. I saw the news just now and thought you were the one who did it.."
Ji Keke was silent for a while before he spoke, "Maybe those four bastards offended another big boss?? Or maybe, Yi did something...
"Anyways, I had a very important thing to tell you, Missy.. I heard Master Jiang made a move recently.."
The two of them talked about some matters before Xia Meng hung up.
On the other side, Ji Keke looked pensive as he stroke his chin with a proud expression in his dashing face.
'I'm really proud of you, Yi! I only told you to cut off that Wei's tongue but you literally annihilated those four families?! But how did you exactly do that?'
Just as he was pondering, a black-dressed man appeared swiftly as he kneeled by his side and reported solemnly.
"Master Ji, I followed those four people but that Wei Shichuan and others suddenly disappeared completely without a trace. Hence, I failed to complete the task."
Ji Keke: "...?!"
'Wait.. What?!'
He was astonished greatly. "...Yi, you weren't the one who annihilated their whole clans?!"
The black man, called Yi, was also taken aback. "Master Ji, how can I.."
Ji Keke waved his hand to send him away as he leaned against his chair, deep in thought.
'If it wasn't Yi who did it, then which big boss did this Wei Shichuan exactly offend?!'
