Chuxia stood by one side and looked at Ji Liunian in disbelief. She tried to catch the concern in his eyes but not a bit could be seen.
She had not expected him to be charmed by Xu Zhiyin and treat her like this!
“Young Mistress, are you alright?” The butler who was passing by saw the scene and came to ask Xu Zhiyin.
Till now, the butler had not changed how he addressed Xu Zhiyin and was still treating her as the young mistress of the Ji family.
From a servant’s attitude, one could read the master’s mind. Everyone in the Ji family treated Xu Zhiyin very nicely.
Xu Zhiyin replied gratefully, “Uncle Jiang, I’m alright.”
Ji Liunian looked at Chuxia and didn’t say anything in front of Uncle Jiang. He suggested to Xu Zhiyin, “Let me bring you to change.”
“Alright.”
Chuxia came over to block Ji Liunian. “I’ve apologized to you, what more do you want from me?”
Ji Liunian didn’t want to speak further and didn’t look into Chuxia’s eyes. He knew his own weakness. If she were to cry, he would not be able to control himself.
However, he could not abandon Xu Zhiyin this time because he had done many things to hurt her in the past.
When Chuxia saw Ji Liunian bringing Xu Zhiyin away determinedly, she stood where she was and her disappointment turned into anger.
She had lowered herself but Xu Zhiyin had had her way!
‘Under such circumstance, Xu Zhiyin, don’t blame me!’
Uncle Jiang darted a look at Chuxia and left silently without uttering a single word.
Xu Zhiyin walked beside Ji Liunian and felt her hand held tightly by Ji Liunian. She wanted to struggle but couldn’t bear to ruin the atmosphere. She could only peep at him. He had not treated her so nicely for a long time. Her heart was once again injected with fresh blood and had revived.
Both of them had just reached the main door and when Ji Liunian wanted to sneak in with Xu Zhiyi without notice, they met Xu Zhiyin’s mother.
When she saw Xu Zhiyin drenched, Madam Xu widened her eyes, “What happened to you? I searched high and low for you and you went swimming?”
Swimming…
Xu Zhiyin nearly fainted.
How could her mother not see that she had been bullied?
Uncle Jiang who came in with them explained, “Young Mistress was pushed into the water by Miss Chuxia.”
Ji Liunian glared at Uncle Jiang, trying to stop him but it was too late.
Madam Xu heard what he said very clearly. Suddenly, she was filled with fighting capacity, “You said Chuxia is here?”
Looking at Ji Liunian’s face, Uncle Jiang dared not exaggerate. Madam Xu glared at Xu Zhiyin, “You got bullied again and this badly today?”
There were many guests today. If they were to see Xu Zhiyin’s current condition, it would be embarrassing.
Xu Zhiyin was rarely in a good mood. Her mother’s scolding did not upset her. “I’m fine. My clothes are wet and I’m about to get changed.”
Moreover, Ji Liunian was still holding her hand. All this was like a dream and it was unbelievable.
Madam Xu saw Ji Liunian holding Xu Zhiyin’s hand too and her face lit up. If Ji Liunian and Xu Zhiyin’s relationship were to take a turn for the better because of this, her daughter being bullied by Chuxia would be worth it.
Madam Xu stopped pursuing the matter further and she became gentle toward Xu Zhiyin. “Go and get changed.”
Xu Zhiyin went upstairs very quickly with Ji Liunian accompanying her. Just as Madam Xu was about to look for Chuxia, she saw Chuxia walking up the stairs.
“Chuxia, please come over!” Madam Xu called her with an indifferent look.
When Chuxia saw Madam Xu, she hesitated but eventually walked over and greeted her, “Aunt.”
Despite Madam Xu’s scolding, Chuxia still appeared to be polite because she didn’t want to appear ugly in front of people whom she disliked.
Madam Xu stared at Chuxia. When she recalled how this woman bullied her daughter again and again, she was furious. “You pushed Zhiyin into the water?”
“…” Chuxia stood there, not explaining.
Madam Xu caught Chuxia’s arms. “Follow me.”
“Where are you bringing me?” Chuxia protested but her strength was not as great as Madam Xu. Hence, she was brought into the living hall.
“What happened?” Madam Ji looked at the furious Madam Xu with a puzzled look.
Madam Xu pointed at Chuxia, “She bullied my daughter. She pushed Zhiyin into the water.”
Her words made everyone’s eyes fall on Chuxia.
“How is Zhiyin? Is she alright?” Mr. Ji and Madam Ji were concerned.
“She went upstairs to get changed.” Madam Xu glared at Chuxia. Chuxia was not welcomed here. When she was pulled to the front by Madam Xu and her offense was announced in public, she became someone everyone hated.
Madam Ji didn’t wish to see Chuxia and despised her for coming at this hour to cause trouble. She called her butler. “Please see Miss Chuxia off. The Ji family doesn’t welcome her! Why did you let just anyone in?”
Chuxia’s brows knitted tightly. She was originally very angry and now she was humiliated in front of everyone. She was ready to risk everything, so, in a neither cowering nor arrogant manner, she answered Madam Ji, “I’m here to look for Liunian. Even if Aunt Ji is reluctant to admit it, you won’t change the fact that I’m with Liunian. Xu Zhiyin seduced Liunian and I taught her a lesson, I did nothing wrong.”
Madam Ji was angry but she laughed. “You are the most shameless woman I’ve ever seen! Now, I’m still courteous toward you for the sake of Liunian. You’d better not test my patience.”
“Aunt Ji, you’ve said more extreme words to me than this. Even that could not stop me and Liunian from loving one another. We will be together. Is it meaningful for you as his mother to force him to marry a woman he doesn’t love?”
“My son would marry anyone but you! What right have you got to say you love him? What right have you got to be with him? Let everyone judge if you, Xu Chuxia, is good enough for my son?” Three years ago, on the day they were supposed to be engaged, she had abandoned Liunian and eloped with a man. A relationship which was supposed to be envied by many had made Liunian a laughing stock.
The humiliation Chuxia had caused would always be remembered by Madam Ji.
What Madam Ji said made everyone look at Chuxia. Chuxia was beautiful and recognizable. So, everyone could recognize her just by one glance. “It’s really Chuxia! She abandoned Ji Liunian, how could she have the cheek to return?”
“That’s right, she’s too arrogant.”
Chuxia looked at everyone who was laughing at her. She clenched her fists. This was not the result she wanted to see. What right did these people have to blame her?
She should be Ji Liunian’s wife!
However, Xu Zhiyin had replaced her and so everyone approved of Xu Zhiyin and disliked her?
This was ridiculous!
“Did you hear that?” Madam Ji stared at Chuxia. “Listen to what everyone had to say. Who here thinks what you did was right? Now, you may leave.”
