Chapter 167: Lucien returns

The god of death gave Lucien a meaningful stare while wondering what to do next. The fact that this kid has a unique combat technique that allows him to retain his power even in the underworld meant he already has an advantage over the god of death. If he should ever reach a profound realm, he may be able to kill him. Why would the king of the underworld let such a threat go without trying to stop him before things escalate to a point where the situation is beyond his control.

"He is scared" Lucien's voice reached his ears causing the god of death to look up and look Lucien in the eyes.

"You are scared of me? a mortal? I believe you should focus on the god of death and destruction coming your way… Trying to kill me here and failing will only give you another powerful enemy… You are getting emotional, you are bound to make mistakes now… We have no issues, you did your job as the king of the underworld, I understand that and there are no hard feelings… Don't make this into something more personal unless you are a hundred percent sure you can stop Rakuzen from escaping here… It's just that simple" Lucien said with an expression that showed no emotion. He wasn't scared or afraid, just logical!

Hearing this the god of death gazed at Rakuzen for a while before turning his attention to Lucien and breaking a smile. A man who was once called the god of gods cannot be restrained easily. If Rakuzen was hell-bent on leaving this place, the god of death wasn't sure he will be able to stop him even if he tried his best. Rakuzen has always been an unknown since the very beginning and that's what made him scary.

"Hahahahahaha! The realm of the mortals is about to get interesting! I guess it's time I start watching again… I have my eyes on you Lucien Rakuzen! Do you hear me? Don't disappoint!" The god of death laughed madly before waving his hand and a powerful suction force began pulling Lucien and Rakuzen.

"I expect to hear stories of your victory over the fake god of death and destruction! Show him this world is not a place just anyone can walk into and stroll out without fear! Show him what death really means!" Lucien screamed.

Hearing this a smile bloomed on the face of the god of death before he threw Lucien a thumbs up.

"Rest assured little one, I will show him what the true power of death looks like!" The god of death said with a bright smile on his face!

At that moment Lucien's vision turned dark and slowly he found himself in that dark space again with the pair of massive blue eyes gazing at him. He could tell Rakuzen was greatly exhausted since his gaze seemed weak and his breathing was heavy.

"Thank you" Lucien said calmly as he bowed while trying to suppress the emotions threatening to erupt!

Rakuzen gazed at him in silence for a while before letting out a weak laugh and then speaking.

"You are getting the wrong idea little one… I was only able to find you because you called my name… the underworld is more vast than you think, even a god will get lost if he enters without getting called upon… As for you, you did a good job, you managed to hold on till I found you…. You looked death in the face and fought, for that reason, I respect you Lucien" Rakuzen said before a bright light shone from behind, dragging Lucien out of the dark world and not giving him the chance to reply!

Lucien's eyes slowly yanked open and the first face he saw was that of Alice whose eyes were swollen and reddened, it was clear she has been crying for a while now. With a sharp glance, he could tell this is his room and he could see the emperor and Instructor Han pacing around with reddened eyes as well, making him break a smile. Aponi and the chieftain of the Bradford town were also present with Klaus of the Lightborn clan. Seeing so many important people here for him, Lucien felt good and tried to compose himself before speaking.

"You should be tried after pacing around for so long…. You need to save your strength for the enemy!" Lucien said after taking in a deep breath.

Hearing his voice everyone turned towards his direction with astonished looks on their faces. They were all reluctant to act because they didn't know how to respond to this. Just a few moments ago, they were sure that Lucien was dead! His heart has stopped beating for over six hours now and it was already late at night and even his strange tattoos vanished. Everyone in his territory was morning his death, seeing him wake up made them extremely happy but too confused to show it.

Lucien wanted to move but then he realized his body was numb. He struggled to push the white sheet off his body and sit up before speaking to them.

"No welcome back hug? No scream of joy or party? You guys are really cold!" Lucien said with a slight chuckle.

Wam!

Alice ran into his hands and began crying uncontrollably. Many watched the duo and felt their own emotions surging dangerously now. As men, they couldn't show their emotions just like Alice did. They could only watch Alice cry uncontrollably with a smile on their faces.

"I thought you were dead… I thought I won't see you again! Don't leave me again!" Alice didn't care about those around, she just said anything she could think of without restraint.

Hearing this Lucien could only smile sweetly while patting her head gently. He didn't think he would feel this good returning to the world of the living.

"I died… I know that but I am back now and I am not going anywhere! Even death couldn't hold me, you don't ever have to worry about me again" Lucien said calmly as he played with her golden hair.
