Chapter 4：After The Incident

We went to see a doctor for a checkup. I told him to check Edward first. He was laying down on a bed and I was sitting beside him.

"Where do you feel pain?" The doctor asked.

"I feel pain in my left shoulder." Edward replied to him while touching his left shoulder strongly.

The doctor removed his shirt to look closely if there is any broken bones, any bruises or bleeding. I involuntarily look down. I was embarrassed to see his face after the incident. I mean, he was shirtless also!

"AHH!" Edward painfully shouted after the imperial doctor touched his upper left shoulder.

"Please bear it for a moment. I need to stop the bleeding."

He applied a pressure to the wound with a clean cloth. Then he immobilized the injured area by applying a splint to the area above and below it.

"Almost done. I need to apply ice to limit the swelling."

He then took an ice and wrapped with a piece of cloth and placed it directly to his skin.

"Do you feel dizzy? Or do you feel like you breath rapidly?" The doctor asked.

"No, I only feel pain in my shoulder" Edward answered him.

"Please rest for today so that the bone heals faster."

The doctor turned toward me and said "Now. It is your turn for a checkup."

"N ... NO! I do not need it. I am fine really. I do not feel any pain." I said it impulsively while shaking my hands in denial.

"But at least, I need to see if there is any bruises, crown prince."

"No. I am fine really." I said

The doctor seemed to be not satisfied with my answer, but he let it slide and said "If you do not feel any pain, then there is no need to look at you, crown prince. I need to go for now. If both of you want something, please call me or call the nurse."

He then went out and closed the door.

I finally feel relaxed that the doctor does not touch me. I mean if he does touch me, then he will immediately know that I am a female! What if one day I suddenly injured myself? Of course he will examine me! Should I really tell him that I am a female? I mean he will find it sooner or later. I shook my head to remove these bad thoughts. I should focus on what just happened between me and my tutor. What should I till him? Should I explain to him the truth? Did he really figured out that I am a girl? Did he noticed or not?

"Who are you?" Edward asked while he slowly adjusted his position.

Ohh no! He knew that I am not my brother. I am exposed! What should I do?

I was trying to avoid looking at his face. I really do not want to see his expressions. Is he angry, surprised, or curious?

"Trust me."

"Huh?" I looked directly at him. His eyes were looking directly at my surprised face. He seemed to be serious about it.

"What I mean is that you could trust me." He paused for a moment and then said "Do not worry. I will keep your secret."

"Why are you SO confident that I have a secret." I said sarcastically.

"Do you doubt me that I did not know anything even when I touched you? I already knew once I touched your waist. Besides, your waist is so small." He paused for a while looking at me curiously.

There is an awkward moment between us. It felt that the time stopped for a moment. I wanted to break that silent, but I could not. I was so nervous and my heart was beating so fast.

Edward finally said "What is your name? I mean your real name."

I looked down into the ground and said "Ja ... Jami .... It is Jameela." I closed my eyes trying to escape the reality.

"Thank you for taking the courage to tell me your name, Jameela. I really appreciate it."

I looked at him "You are not angry that I tricked you? I mean I was pretending to be my brother."

"To be honest, I am surprised now. It did not occur to me that your brother has a twin. If that incident had not happened, I would not know that you are pretending to be your twin brother ..... you really look like him."

"Yeah ...."

"So your brother is still missing" Edward said while looking straight into the door.

"Yes. My father and I are trying to find any lead that may help us know where my brother is."

"I see."

We went silent for a moment until Edward said, "It is time for you to go studying."

"What?! I can not focus while studying because of what happened." I complained to him.

"No excuses. You should go to the library and study. If you want to find your brother, you should at least follow his schedules. It is better to forget that incident."

"I can't."

He sighed and stared at me for a moment. His eyes seems like they were scolding me. It made me really restless.

"I surrender, okay. Your eyes are really scary. Do not worry, I will go now to the library. Ah yes, the doctor said that you should rest for today."

"Yeah. I will rest." He smiled while still looking at me.
