Chapter 18：Finding Truth

I woke up early this morning. I wore my shirt and trouser in a hurry. I double checked if I wore the binder behind the shirt. I opened the door to see Elijah guarding in front of my room.

"Elijah! You scared me!"

He looked at me questionably "Why in a hurry? You opened the door violently."

"I need to go to the royal library." I answered.

"I know you are my personal bodyguard, but why you are still guarding at this hour. My head maid is with me." I led to him. My head maid only came in the morning. I was surprised when I saw Elijah in front of the door. To think that it is only few centimeters away from me, it makes me more embarrassed!

"To guard you during your sleep time is the most important duty of any guard."

I looked at him thoughtlessly.

"But ... you should sleep." This was the only thing I could think of right now.

"It is fine."

"No. It is not. Anyway, listen. I am only going to the royal library for now, and I want to be alone reading. So, it is better if you don't follow me."

"I am sorry to decline your request. I should follow you anywhere. It is your father's order."

I sighed. I wanted to be alone reading about documents.

There was no other choice. We went straight to the royal library that was on the ground floor.

To enter the royal library, one must have a royal card to access this library. Not all of people can enter, only the imperial family and ones with exceptions such as Elijah. He needs to guard me, so Father gave him the authority to be with me in any places in this castle.

"So you mean that Father gave you a card?" I asked.

"It is not a card, it is like a paper that contains your father's signature. As I show it to the guards in the royal library, they will let me in."

"I see."

We entered the royal library. I never saw a place like this before. It was huge and has so many shelves. The library has two floor. The ground floor, which we are in now, has a big table, with chairs surrounding it, in the middle for anyone to read. Both floors were attached by a big stair in the middle and I can see clearly the above floor, which has only books.

I asked the librarian, who was beside me, where I could find the documents related to the kingdom. He guided me to the second floor and said.

"This floor is more restricted than the ground floor. It has many documents and other materials as well. You can look at this floor as you want. If you need any help, just call me and I will be here, Prince."

"Thank you." I said.

I was looking carefully at the books trying to find anything related to what I am looking for. I was trying to find about the enemy's country. Yesterday, I asked Father curiously about its name. He said its name was 'DarkOwl.'

I grab a wooden stair to reach the second shelve that was way too high for me. I carefully went up and looked for other books.

"Mmmm ..." I rubbed my chin.

"Prince. Please be careful." Elijah said.

"I will." I told him while grabbing a book.

"Mmmm .. I think this one might be helpful." I murmured.

I went down carefully from the wooden stair. I saw Elijah reaching his hands to grab my hand. I did what he wanted me to do and went down.

"Did you find anything useful?" He asked.

"I think this book might be useful." I answered.

I showed him the book's title and said "It is written 'The relations of other countries' so I think I might find our enemy's country."

I looked roughly at the index of this book and finally saw the word 'DarkOwl'.

I said to Elijah "I will go down and read this book carefully."

He nodded.

We went downstairs and reached the big table that was in the middle of the library. I sat down and began to read.

"Lets see ..." I murmured.

I began to look at the pages related to 'DarkOwl' country.

My eyes were following my right hand's index. The first pages were about its history and how it was established, so I skipped it and move to the next pages.

"Mmm .. It is about their affairs with other kingdoms and country ... I hopefully find about our kingdom." I said it thoughtlessly.

After several pages, I saw a section about my kingdom and the 'DarkOwl' country. I began to read carefully about their relationship.

I finished reading this section and this what I wanted to know exactly about.

"So you finally found what you are looking for, am I right?" He asked.

"Yes. I found it."

What I understood from reading this section is that initially our kingdom does not have any problems with our enemy. They were alliance to our kingdom. The reason for the alliance is because the princess was wed to the king of our kingdom. However, a huge problem occurred and resulted in poisoning the princess. Thus, a war led between them and resulted in many deaths. I did not know why a problem like this could result in a war, but I finally found the reason behind being an enemy country.

I closed the book and said "Lets go to the office."

"Okay, Prince."
