Chapter 22: Welcome to Prison 18

The same old prison cell; the same old metallic walls; the same old icy bed.

Qing Chen had never been so delighted. He was afraid that his second transmigration might take him someplace else. If that were the case, his past efforts, all his efforts to gain Li Shutong’s favor, would have been in vain.

Each transmigration seemed to be a continuation of the last, which meant that the Canon score that he memorized would still be useful.

He Xiaoxiao’s strategy video had demonstrated that Li Shutong must be a highly important character in the Inner World, regardless of what kind of person he was in the end.

Qing Chen was confident that about 90% of the transmigrators were still confused about this world at this time, not knowing how to get what they desired in this unfamiliar environment.

But in Qing Chen’s case, he transmigrated right next to Li Shutong.

It didn’t matter if other transmigrators had how magnificent and wonderful the outside world was.

Qing Chen spat the flash drive from his mouth onto his hand’s palm. His experiment yielded positive results.

Since he could bring the flash drive over, that meant as long as the item was inside his body, it would be transmigrated.

He looked at the bruise on his arm, and like before when he transmigrated back, the injury was still brought across.

Based on the results of his experiments, he determined that the process of transmigration took the entire body, there was no doubt about it.

With his own strategies, Qing Chen was slowly gaining more insight into the process of transmigration.

Gradually, the noise of prisoners banging metal cell doors began to resonate in Prison 18.

For some reason, Qing Chen felt that this noise was much more comforting when compared to his life in the Outside World.

He was back to where he belonged.

Qing Chen looked down at his arm. The white mechanical countdown on his skin already changed:

“Return Countdown: 47:55:50”

Still two days. Still just as short.

But Qing Chen was thinking, would the countdown time change? Would it increase or decrease?

At breakfast time, the doors opened like usual. Qing Chen wasn’t as cautious as the first time he came. He stepped outside and looked down at the open space. Li Shutong, Ye Wan, and Lin Xiaoxiao were already down there in the cafeteria. Lin Xiaoxiao saw Qing Chen and even gave a kind wave.

The prisoners around him looked at him with envious eyes.

Qing Chen smiled and greeted them kindly. Almost feeling flattered, the prisoners quickly returned with greetings as well.

At some point in time, this 17-year-old boy had become a “respectable person” in prison.

Qing Chen, however, didn’t rush to go downstairs, he waited on the fifth floor and observed the rest of the prisoners silently.

At 12:00 A.M. last night, after all the prisoners were taken into the cells, a new group of inmates was escorted in.

At the same time, the second group of transmigrators from the Outer World should have arrived too.

Qing Chen was looking down from above,  trying to spot anyone else who might have become a transmigrator. If there in fact was one, he’d have to find a way to keep his true identity hidden.

At this time, eight fresh new faces stood in a daze along the corridor on the 2nd floor, cautiously glancing about

Qing Dust froze as he looked at the newcomers, because one of them, surprisingly, was the transmigrator from his school that he heard about yesterday, Liu Dezhu!

He shouldn’t go down right now, because that would cause him to be immediately recognized.

“Look, we got some more novices!” Liu Guangyi, on the sixth level, smiled as he gazed down at the second floor, amid the pandemonium of the prisoners streaming out of their cells. We’ll have a good time in a minute! ”

Before, Qing Chen felt a  little annoyed at Lu Guangyi’s big mouth, but by the time he came back to Prison 18,  he felt that this was much more casual.

Suddenly, someone smiled at the new prisoner, “Welcome to Prison 18! ”

Qing Chen was looking at the expressions of the newcomers. Liu Dezhu changed when he heard the word Prison 18.

At first, he was in fear, yet now, there was a slight sense of joy on his face.

It seemed that the word “Prison 18” was particularly enlightening.

However, Liu Dezhu did not act rashly. He silently observed what other prisoners were doing and lined up to go downstairs to eat. Along the way, he also whispered to the prisoners in front, “Uh… excuse me, do you know who Li Shutong is? ”

The prisoners in front of him and behind him were confused upon hearing this. They thought to themselves,

would this kid be a relative of that guy?

One of the prisoners thought about it and pointed to him, “There, Li Shutong the one down there. ”

Liu Dezhu looked down from the upstairs and instantly found the unique figure sitting calmly in the cafeteria. He thought to himself that He Xiaoxiao was telling the truth. This middle-aged man’s temperament was obviously that of a big boss!

After getting his food, he saw that the other prisoners were free to move around, but he suddenly found a few were slowly approaching him and smiling as if they were up to no good.

Liu Dezhu cursed himself in his mind but decisively carried the plate toward where Li Shutong was sitting despite this.

Just as he was getting closer, Lin Xiaoxiao blocked his path.

“Huh, it’s been weird recently. How come so many newcomers dare to come right to the boss?” Lin Xiaoxiao smiled as he stood in front of him.

Liu Dezhu turned to look at the prisoners who wanted to catch him, and then lowered his voice as he said to Lin Xiaoxiao mysteriously, “I have come to receive my quests. We are on the same team. ”

Lin Xiaoxiao:”? ? ?”

What?!

Lin Xiaoxiao was completely confused by Liu Dezhu’s words.

What does he mean by “quests”? I never met this guy in the organization before! And why in the world is this kid making it seem like we are spies who are getting ready for a mission…

Seeing that Lin Xiaoxiao did not react, Liu Dezhu became a little anxious, “I can do the quests! The career skill quest! ”

“Get out of here,” Lin Xiaoxiao said, impatiently waving.  He then got the attention of several prisoners beside him and said, “What are you all standing there for? Get him out of my sight! ”

Now, Liu Dezhu truly lost his calm. He shouted directly to Li Shutong, “Li Shutong, I am here for a career skill quest! ”

The entire Prison 18 fell silent.

All the inmates stood in position as if someone had pressed the prison’s mute button, looking at each other in horror and bewilderment.

They didn’t know what was going on, but everything that was happening was weird!

At this time, Li Shutong was still studying the endgame in front of him without lifting his head, but the big cat and Ye Wan at the table instantly looked at Liu Dezhu.

Lin Xiaohua’s eyes squinted, and he said: “We got another weirdo on our hands? ”

To be honest, Liu Dezhu himself did not know what went wrong.

He Xiaoxiao’s gameplay video explained it very clearly. The first two career paths were ambiguous, yet the one regarding Prison 18 was very easy to understand.

Now that he got spawned in Prison 18 to start off the game, that obviously meant that he was the chosen one!

But… Something seemed to be off. This place didn’t seem to be ready to pass me the career skills. Did he get the wrong person?!

Liu Dezhu did not have a chance to think further. The prisoner next to him, under Lin Xiaoxiao’s signal, forcefully tried to pull him into his cell and teach him a lesson.

Without any hesitation, Liu Dezhu sought a gap and dived right out of the crowd. He ran to the alloy gate next to the open space and slapped the gate wildly, “Let me out! They are going to torture me. Let me out! ”

At this time, the drones resting on the gray concave ceiling soared down to the ground. On the surface, none robot prison guards also approached.

Qing Chen was speechless. Has his classmate gone mad?

Anyone with a brain would know that one should think first before acting.
