5 A curse of hatred

Being completely honest with himself, Jin was nervous. This would potentially dictate what kind of jutsu he would learn in the future.

Under the expectant gazes of his family, he let his chakra flow through the paper.

This time, the paper changed in a bizarre way.

It became pitch black, and the ominous face of an Oni appeared on the surface of it.

Goro was stupefied. He had never seen such a change occur on the paper before and quickly activated his Sharingan.

The paper didn't stop there, as the Oni's face wrinkled up before igniting, turning into ash.

Goro looked at Jin silently, with a heavy expression on his face.

"Jin, first of all, congratulations on having three chakra nature affinities, you are a genius."

Hideki had a look of reverence on his face and Fugaku was full of incredulity.

Goro spoke calmly.

"All of you have seen the face that appeared on the paper right? well, that was Genjutsu."

"Jin has a strong affinity for Yin release, a chakra nature that lies outside of the elemental spectrum."

While they all stared at him in shock, Goro continued:

"Yin release gathers the spiritual energy of the world, creating form out of nothing. Genjutsu techniques, and the Nara clan's shadow manipulation; They all heavily rely on the power of Yin, having their spiritual nature increased over the physical."

"Would this mean that Jin is highly suited to his future Sharingan's Genjutsu abilities?"

Hideki couldn't help but ask.

"Indeed. On top of making it stronger, this means that he'll have less trouble learning and using Genjutsu. I have never seen or heard about someone with a Yin affinity, so it's probably rare. In any case, let's keep this a secret for now."

Fugaku and Hideki were lost at this point, but Jin was exhilarated. Three affinities, and a rare one at that!

Goro controlled his excitement and continued speaking in a serious tone.

"Your dominant nature and the one you are most compatible with is Yin, but you also showed an affinity for Lighting and Fire. Congratulations Jin, your father and I will personally oversee your training before and after you enroll in the academy, as you are now the hope of our clan."

"Yes, uncle!"

He couldn't wait for his Sharingan to manifest. Once it did, no one would be able to stop him.

Once they were done, all of them sat down and continued having tea. Although his parents weren't with him, Jin enjoyed the company of his other family members.

It was then that a ninja appeared next to Goro, whispering something into his ear and vanishing immediately after

Goro's expression turned ghastly. He was silent for a good while.

The others were curious about what was going on but kept their mouths shut. They had never seen Goro with such an expression before. Fugaku looked very worried.

Finally, Goro looked back up, his eyes landing on Jin.

"Jin. I am very sorry to tell you this..."

Jin had no idea what he was talking about, but judging from his tone of voice it most likely wasn't very good.

Taking the deepest breath he had ever taken, Goro spoke hoarsely.

"Inari is dead... He was killed by the Raikage. "

Jin looked like his soul was torn away from his body. The rest had looks of shock plastered on their faces.

Holding himself back, Goro walked up to his nephew and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"The funeral will take place tomorrow. I'm sorry for your loss... "

Goro wasn't a very emotional man, but the loss of his brother, Inari, was the hardest blow he had ever taken since their parents died.

He gestured for everyone to leave Jin alone, while he made his way to a secluded rooftop.

Letting his feet dangle, he looked at the night sky, a resigned expression plastered on his face.

He closed his eyes, and slowly, tears streaked down his cheeks.

When he opened them again, his eyes changed, displaying an abstract pattern. It was none other than the Mangekyo Sharingan.

"Inari… I will avenge you. I swear on the Uchiha name."

The night passed silently.

Jin went back to his house without speaking a word, a lifeless look in his eyes. He did not know how to react, as the loss of his father came without any warning.

The corridors felt empty. The house felt foreign to him.

Walking to his parent's room, he slid the door open without any warning, only to find his mother sitting on her knees, her back facing him.

She did not speak, and neither did he. Both remained silent.

Closing the door, Jin left for his own room. There, he took out his futon and got in it, slowly crying himself to sleep.

The other clansmen all received the news of Inari's death, and anger started brewing in the hearts of the Uchiha. Once they heard how he died, they couldn't help but feel resentment.

Inari was sent on a mission and his team unexpectedly encountered the Third Raikage. The village could have allowed them to retreat but they forced to carry out the mission no matter what.

As a result, Inari took on the Raikage and ended up dying. He and all of his teammates were slaughtered by the man.

Was this how the village treated their strongest clan?

The clan's hate towards the third Hokage started increasing little by little.

...

During the funeral on the next day, which took place at Naka shrine, Goro gave a speech about the valiant acts of his brother along with an ovation from Danzo.

Obviously, he was not very welcome.

Jin sat on the front row, holding his mother's hand with a look of determination on his face.

He had heard the full story and looked towards Danzo with hatred in his eyes. In his heart, he knew that this man probably orchestrated his father's death.

Noticing the hatred sent his way, Danzo looked at Jin and noticed his eyes turning red, a small tomoe appearing in them. Shocked, he smiled and left.

Jin swore to avenge his father by killing everyone involved and bringing honor to his name. He wouldn't rest until he accomplished it.

"Danzo, Raikage, whoever. I'll kill them all…"
