Chapter 838 - 838

"You better have a good explanation for this Cedric." Emilio Reyes warned his son as soon as the doors closed behind them.

"I do." Cedric said with a nod as he leaned against his office table.

Cedric took a deep breath before finally explaining.

"Guan Ming is an old friend." Cedric started. 

"How old of a friend?" His father asked as the older man glared at Guan Ming. "Can we trust him?"

"Uncle!" Camilla suddenly reacted, catching everyone except Cedric, Ian, and Guan Ming's mother by surprise. 

"We can trust him." Ian suddenly said with a nod.

Cedric gave Ian a confused look from where he stood, he was surprised that Ian had said that Guan Ming was trustworthy. From what he had witnessed, Guan Ming and Ian were not exactly on good terms.

"I've known Guan Ming for around six years I think." Cedric said as he tried to recall what year they met. 

"Seven." Guan Ming quickly corrected Cedric.

"Seven." Camilla said with a nod as she looked at Guan Ming with a longing smile.

"How did an assistant at Mor Co. become friends with one of the wealthiest men in the world?" Emilio Reyes asked, clearly confused as to how Guan Ming and Cedric met in the first place.

"Well, almost the same way that the CEO of the Reyes Group ended up in a conference, flying economy,  and sleeping at one of the poorest hotels in the region." Cedric said with a laugh as he recalled the trip to Hong Kong where he met Guan Ming.

"He had poverty training too?" Emilio Reyes asked. He knew that some families practiced a similar method as the Reyes Group. Some were harsher, while others were more lenient. 

"No, he ran away and got disowned." Cedric said with a laugh. 

"The reason I got disowned is also the reason why my company is doing so well." Guan Ming told Cedric as he rolled his eyes at Cedric.

"Yeah, your dad was wrong with that one." Guan Ming's mother said with a nod.

"Oh, right, I forgot to introduce my mom." Guan Ming was clearly ashamed of forgetting to introduce his mother. "Cerdic, Mr. Emilio, Mr. Laurence, Miss Ayana, this is my mom Lu Ning. Mom, this is the guy everyone thought I was dating."

As Guan Ming pointed at Cedric, Ray spat out the coffee he was drinking, making his wife and Camilla scream in disgust.

"Seriously?" Ayanna asked in an angry tone as she got up and called for a maid to clean up. "Ray, can't you be a little bit more, I don't know, proper? I swear if you were doing a business deal right now, whoever you were dealing with would probably reject the deal."

"I was just shocked." Ray said as he shook his head. "People usually think that I'm the one that's gay."

"I'm sorry about my husband." Ayanna said to Guan Ming and his mother as she shook his head. "He can act quite childish for a CEO."

"It's fine, my Guan Ming is like a child at home too." Lu Ning said with a laugh, making Guan Ming blush.

"Mom!" Guan Ming whined.

"It's an honor to meet you all." Lu Ning said with a slight bow. "I'm sorry we thought you were dating our son. Someone we thought we could trust spread a malicious rumor about him and we were fools to think our son would lie to us about it."

"Why would you even think that Guan Ming was dating someone from our country?" Emilio Reyes asked.

"Not just your country." Lu Ning said with a laugh as she shook her head. "We knew he was dating someone from the Reyes Group. He would have letters from that address and he always seemed different after reading the letters."

"So he was dating someone from the Reyes Group?" Emilio Reyes asked.

"They weren't dating Uncle Emilio." Ian groaned. "They were and still are in love."

"Wait, what, so who was it?" Emilio Reyes asked the people in the room.

"It was Camilla, dad." Cedric finally revealed as he laughed at his father's reaction.

The older Reyes seemed shocked as he looked at Camilla.

"Give him a moment." Ayanna said as she laughed. "Camilla is like a daughter to him. So hearing that she is in love with someone will take a while for him to process."

"How long?" Emilio Reyes finally asked. "And is this why you've never had a boyfriend?"

Cedric noticed how happy Guan Ming suddenly was when he heard Emilio Reyes say that Camilla never had a boyfriend. 

"We met during that conference in Hong Kong, the same one where Cedric and Guan Ming met as well." Camilla explained. "I quickly fell for him and he for me. He told me to wait and that he would be loyal to me."

"You trusted him?" Emilio Reyes asked.

"I was right to trust." Camilla said with a nod.

"My son refused to date, and when he did go on a date it was because we forced him to." Lu Ning explained. "He became notorious about being cold to all the women he met, which fueled the rumor that he preferred men to women."

"I can't say I disapprove." Emilio Reyes said with a proud smile. "Guan Ming seems to be a really good man to you."

"I'm also one of the richest men in China now, sir." Guan Ming boasted.

"That cockyness of yours will do you more harm than good." Ian warned Guan Ming.

"I don't care if you are a rich man or a poor man." Emilio Reyes said as he shook his head. "Rich men can be bad and poor men can be good. What matters is you love Camilla and that you will treat her the way she deserves to be treated."

"I do, sir, and I would never hurt her." Guan Ming promised as he looked at Camilla with a burning passion in his eyes.

"As long as this is what you want Camilla, I have no right to stop you." Emilio Reyes told Camilla who quickly went up and hugged him.

"I do uncle, I love him.." Camilla said as she glanced back and gave Guan Ming a loving smile.
