Miguel's office was larger than most doctors, it was mainly because his family owned the hospital and also because he was the top doctor in the country.
When Cedric and Adrianna came in Miguel was looking at a patient's file. Cedric sat on the couch and made himself comfortable. When Adrianna saw this she followed suit and sat next to Cedric.
Cedric then pulled Adrianna closer to him and kissed her.
"Hey!" Adrianna said, pushing Cedric away.
"He won't complain." Cedric said, kissing Adrianna again.
"Please, spare my single heart. Don't you guys have a whole house to do that?" Miguel complained as he continued to read the file.
"I told you!" Adrianna said, freeing herself from Cedric's grasp.
"You'll do it?" Cedric asked Miguel.
"Do I have a choice? No other doctor in the country could do it." Miguel said as he continued to look at the file.
"What's so interesting about that file?" Cedric asked Miguel.
"It's your grandfather in law's file. I'm studying it." Miguel explained. "Now leave. I'm sure you have work to do. I'll operate on him in two days, I need to prep."
Cedric shrugged and left the room with Adrianna.
"Thanks Miguel!" Adrianna shouted as they left.
Miguel looked up and smiled, then looked back down at the file.
"He's always like that when he's got an operation coming up." Cedric explained.
"Wanna bet Asia will take credit for this?" Cedric teased.
"Will you let her?" Adrianna asked.
"Of course. It's fun." Cedric laughed.
When they got back to the Reyes home Adrianna felt exhausted and excused herself to go to sleep, it was after all already two in the morning.
The next day Adrianna stayed in, she wasn't feeling well. It was probably because of the tiring days she had recently. Cedric had to go to Mor Co. for work after not coming in for two weeks. Despite his best attempts to work from his home office he had a pile of work waiting for him at Mor Co.
Ian and Camilla had already returned to work a week prior and had kept the ship afloat while Cedric was recovering.
That morning he called Ian, Camilla, and his driver to his office and handed them an envelope each.
"Without the three of you I wouldn't be here today. In those envelopes are 5% each of Mor Co. and Elisia Corp., all taken from my personal shares. It's a small token for what you had to go through because of me. I hope you can continue to work for me with the same dedication." Cedric said.
The three were left speechless. Never in their lives did they expect to be given a part of the company they worked for and of another subsidiary of the Reyes group.
"We'll continue to do our best sir. Thank you." Ian said.
Cedric nodded and told them to get back to work. He was lucky to have such excellent members of his staff.
Later that afternoon Ray and Alexi dropped by to update Cedric on the latest developments with the investigation.
"We couldn't find this Hannah G. anywhere. I checked all the records, none." Alexi complained.
"Same here. I checked with your dad's old school and the surrounding area. It's like she vanished." Ray said.
"People don't just vanish. We need to find Hannah G. and see if that child was ever born." Cedric said.
"I'll talk to uncle Emilio and see if he remembers her last name, I really can't believe that he can't remember. Even my dad doesn't remember." Alexi complained again.
"I'll look into Carlos De Dios' assets and see what we're up against. I don't like us going around in the dark." Cedric said.
"I'll keep an ear out on the streets. If he so much as offers someone to make a move I'll know about it." Ray said.
"When's Miguel operating on your grandfather in law?" Alexi asked Cedric.
"Tomorrow." Cedric said in reply.
"I really don't understand how you can stomach to save any of them after everything." Ray said, shaking his head.
"He's Adrianna's family. He might not approve of me but he loves Adrianna." Cedric told Ray and Alexi.
"We'll come over if we discover anything new." Alexi said bidding Cedric goodbye.
The next day Adrianna and Cedric went to Saints Hospital together. Adrianna was too tired the previous day and was unable to visit grandpa Hernandez. Her uncle Matthew had informed her that Miguel had agreed to do the operation and that she didn't have to come into work and could wait at Saints with the rest of the family.
Prior to the operation Miguel met with them to explain the procedure. He warned them that it could take as long as twelve hours to operate on the patient. The family prepared for a long day at the hospital.
"Your grandpa will be fine." Cedric told Adrianna in an attempt to reassure her.
"Miguel is the best. He saved you, he'll save my grandpa too." Adrianna said confidently.
"We're lucky Doctor Miguel Chan agreed to operate." Uncle Matthew said thinking out loud.
"I heard that he is the personal doctor to the president!" Gracia said, excited to share the gossip she had heard.
"We are truly lucky then." Charles said with a smile.
