Chapter 139

The girls had agreed to begin planning Veronica's wedding over the weekend, which was two days away. The rest of the week went by relatively peacefully for Cedric. He had given strict instructions to Mia that Adrianna was not allowed to have meetings past 4pm and that she had to leave the office at 5pm everyday. Despite the curfew Cedric had given Adrianna was still very busy, the partnership with the Chu family was so successful that more companies wanted to work with them.

Adrianna's efforts did not go unnoticed. Uncle Matthew had repeatedly congratulated Adrianna on the work she was doing and had hoped that she would continue to do a good job. Inside Island's Inc. as well the employees started to realize that Adrianna was more than just a pretty face, that she could stand on her own and even go up against the giants of the industry.

Adrianna had gotten up early for the weekend and joined the girls at the guest house as they planned which items they would need for the wedding. Veronica was set on having Maureen design her wedding gown.

"Do you think you'll have a grand wedding?" Nicole asked Veronica as she played with her hair.

'Do I have a choice? There is very little I can control about this situation. I'm sure our parents want to turn the wedding into an ultra networking event. Build even stronger connections, it's not as if we need it anyway." Veronica complained.

"Then why not, go against their wishes and have a small one?" Natalia suggested.

"How? I'm pretty sure they reserved a venue years in advance." Veronica told Natalia as she slumped on the couch.

"So what can you plan?" Adrianna asked Veronica.

"My dress, probably my bride's maids, I'm already picking the most important girls around anyway." Veronica said with a shrug.

"That's unfair." Adrianna said.

"At least I get the big wedding every girl dreams about." Veronica said with a sarcastic laugh.

"You might as well elope!" Nicole teased.

"And disappoint my parents even more?" Veronica said, shaking her head.

"So you'll just do as they say?" Katerina asked. "That's not the Veronica I know."

"I don't know Katerina, don't you get tired of fighting all the time?" Veronica asked Katerina.

"I wouldn't have gotten roped into this in the first place anyway." Katernia proudly said as she crossed her arms and sat on the couch.

"This is frustrating. I'll go get some drinks inside." Veronica said as she marched away.

Inside the house, Cedric was looking forward to the fact that he could finally rest after a busy week. Unfortunately, it seemed that the world had other plans, when Cedric got down for breakfast he found Miguel pacing across his living room while Eric sat comfortably on the couch.

"We didn't have anything planned." Cedric said as he looked at the brothers with surprise.

"No we didn't. I had an idea." Miguel said with some hesitation.

"Do you think it's a smart idea?" Cedric asked Eric.

"No. Of course not." Eric said.

"And you let him come here?" Cedric asked the older brother.

"The more no's he gets the more he will realize it's not a smart idea." Eric explained with a shrug.

"You know him best I guess. Come, have breakfast. Miguel looks like he just came from an operation." Cedric said leading the brothers into the dining room.

"He did. He hasn't slept." Eric told Cedric as they walked.

"Look, I can't change the fact that we're getting married right?" Miguel asked his friend and his brother.

"Wait, I want the others to hear this." Eric said as he took out his phone and dragged everyone into a conference call.

"Miguel repeat what you just said." Eric instructed his brother.

Miguel took a deep breath and spoke.

"I have a crazy idea. I can't change the fact that we are getting married right?" Miguel asked again.

"Nope. Get to your point. I want to enjoy the weekend." Cedric said.

"What if we took away the wedding from the elders?" Miguel suggested.

"That's stupid. But get to your point." Alexi said over the phone.

"Think about it. What if we didn't tell them we got married, we didn't invite them, then moved as far away as possible from them." Miguel suggested.

"Veronica would never agree." Ram said over the phone.

"I would never agree to what?" Veronica asked as she approached.

"Veronica, I was suggesting that we uninvite the parents from the wedding." Miguel slowly said.

"I'm listening." Veronica said.

"We can tell them a fake date, get married sooner in a small ceremony, just with people we want to be there. Then move as far away from them as possible." Miguel said.

"We have to stay in the country, and not too far from our friends." Veronica told Miguel.

"I have property here in Mountain View. We can build a house here. It's near Cedric and our siblings can come over. You can design it as you want." Miguel told Veronica.

"And where will you live while this house is being built?" Cedric asked.

"In your guest house, of course." Miguel said proudly.

"What if I say no?" Cedric warned his friend.

"But you won't." Miguel told Cedric with a grin.

Cedric just shook his head and sighed.

"When do you plan on having this wedding?" Veronica asked.

"Two months." Miguel said with full confidence.

Veronica stood by quietly for a while, thinking about Miguel's suggestion.

"Okay." Veronica finally said. "I'll be at the back planning it with the girls. Message me when you find a church." Veronica said leaving the boys stunned in the dining room.

"Quick! Eat your breakfast Cedric. We need to find a discreet location for the wedding." Miguel said, as he shook Cedric on the shoulder, almost making him spill his drink.

"Don't rush me! It's the weekend. I want to enjoy the cooking of the chefs I pay for." Cedric complained as he took a casual sip of his coffee.
