Chapter 416

Cedric, Ian, and Miguel didn't have to wait long for the scene to change. Head Nurse Belinda soon stepped out and called nurse Jen in.

"Time stamp?" Cedric asked. He was trying to figure out which incident could have been the source of Nicole being targeted for the use of the serum.

"6:35 pm." Miguel read.

"Ten minutes to go." Cedric said as he pondered what could have happened in those ten minutes.

"Look! Look! Look!" Ian started shouting as Cedric was pulled back from his thoughts. "Why is head nurse Belinda leaving?"

True enough the head nurse stepped out of the room once more and spoke to the assistant. Luckily, Miguel had not turned off the lip reading function and they could clearly see what was being said.

'Head Nurse, you are not joining them?' Nicole's assistant asked as she looked up from her work.

'No, no. Nurse Jen wanted some time to speak to Dr. Nicole Chan on her own. I think it has something to do with her assignment in Dr. Miguel Chan's team.' Head Nurse Belinda said.

"Something seems off about her." Cedric pointed out as he watched the mood meter shift from confident to anxious.

"She probably knows something." Miguel said as they watched the conversation continue.

'Isn't Nurse Jen happy with the assignment? I know a lot of nurses that would gladly take the job in Dr. Miguel Chan's team. It's an opportunity of a lifetime!' The assistant said to the head nurse.

'I doubt it's a big problem.' Head Nurse Belinda said with a shrug. 'I'll go ahead. Will you tell Jen?'

'Sure!' The assistant said with a smile.

Cedric saw Head Nurse Belinda thank her and take her leave.

"Time stamp?" Ian asked Miguel.

"6:40 pm. How did we not know this?" Miguel asked as they watched nurse Jen step out of Nicole's office.

"She's clearly not happy." Ian said as he read what the indicator on the screen said.

Just as nurse Jen stepped out angrily her expression quickly changed into a happy one, something the scanners managed to detect.

"Wow, she's a good actress." Cedric commented as he watched the change.

"Do you think she's acting around Alexi?" Miguel asked.

"Probably, but the whole liking Selina part is true, Selina herself admitted it." Cedric said with a shrug.

"I don't understand why she's going head on against Nicole?" Miguel asked. "Nicole is on her side. Nicole even went against Katerina because she knows nurse Jen from work."

"Maybe Nic found something out, or maybe whatever happened in that room revealed something." Ian said as he watched nurse Jen smile politely at the assistant and leave.

"Wait, but didn't Nicole's water break 5 minutes from this moment?" Cedric asked. "It could still have been caused by something else, a phone call or another person dropping by."

As Cedric said this Nicole's assistant entered her office and suddenly ran out calling for help.

"That's the moment then." Miguel said with a shrug. "Nicole is then rushed to my operating room to give birth." Miguel explained as several nurses and doctors came rushing in. Nicole's assistant on the other hand was on the phone, she was calling Nicole's mom and locking the door to Nicole's office at the same time.

"So Jen was the last person Nicole spoke to that day." Miguel said, shaking his head. "I trusted her too. At least until I saw her injecting that serum into Nicole. She's worked for me for years, I was even hoping that she could help Alexi move on from his heartbreak." Miguel said with a sigh.

"We need to know how she got that serum and why she needed it." Cedric said in a stern tone.

"Now I wish Miguel had installed cameras in Nicole's office." Ian said with a sigh.

"And catch you guys making Tristan? No way." Miguel said, shaking his head.

"We need to know everything about Jen." Cedric said as he leaned forward and placed his elbows on his desk. "We have to put a tail on her, someone that will follow her everywhere and will report every action to us."

"That's going to be difficult." Miguel said with a frown.

"Why?" Cedric asked curiously.

"Alexi has someone follow her to make sure that she is safe. If that person notices a second man observing her he will alert Alexi, and you know what kind of a fight will come from that." Miguel said, shaking his head.

"What if we have our men cover all of the blind spots?" Ian suggested. "I'm sure if something were up Alexi's man would have found it. So we cover the parts of her life where she could potentially slip away from Alexi's man."

"So we tap her phone or something?" Cedric asked as he gave his former assistant a puzzled look.

"No, no, we make sure all the other entrances and exits are covered. She is possibly sneaking out to meet someone, I highly doubt she is acting alone on this." Ian explained. "The resources needed to trick the background check on Miguel's team is immense, that just means someone big is backing her."

"Alright." Cedric said with a nod. "Dave, Mae, come in please." Cedric said over the intercom connecting him to his assistants.

Within a few seconds Dave and Mae entered his office, ready to do as he asked. Ever since Camilla and Ian left, Dave and Mae had become extremely effective. They did their jobs really well and Cedric didn't even notice the need to hire an additional assistant. The two did, however, inform him that they needed help so Cedric was already studying candidates.

"You trained them well." Cedric said to Ian with a nod and a smile.

"Thanks, but there was a good foundation to build on. The credit goes to them." Ian explained.

"Alright. Dave, contact Leon. I want his best spy tracking nurse Jen. Tell him to focus on the aspects that Alexi's shadow could miss. The obvious things can be ignored and he will have to focus on the details." Cedric ordered. Dave nodded as he jotted down Cedric's instructions.

"When do you need them, boss?" Dave asked.

"As soon as possible." Cedric said.

Dave nodded and left the room to do as Cedric asked.

"Mae, talk to Nouveau, I'll be using the private room. Tell them Adolfo Luna will be joining us. If he arrives there before us, tell them to bring him to the private room. You may go." Cedric told Mae.

Mae quickly did as he asked and gave the restaurant a call.
