As Cedric and Adrianna joined everyone in the living room, Cedric was surprised that Capt. Lim only had two other policemen with him this time.
"It seems you decided to come with less people today." Cedric said with a laugh as he guided his wife to take a seat next to Nicole.
"I figured it was best to just leave them at the station." Capt. Lim said with a grin. "I don't really have that much time and if they keep staring at your friend I won't be able to come and do what I have to do."
"Sir." Mae said with a nod as she joined them, standing behind Adrianna.
"I'm sorry you had to wait." Cedric told the police captain as he took his seat at the head of the group. "I had some work to attend to." He informed Capt. Lim.
"It's alright, I understand." Capt. Lim said with a nod. "You were supposed to fly back yesterday and I held you back for a day."
"It's not a problem." Cedric told the captain. "There isn't anything that needs my attention back at home, as a matter of fact I was planning on visiting our local offices after lunch. So you arrived at the perfect time." Cedric said with a smile.
"Alright, let me get down to business then." The police captain said with a nod as his expression turned serious.
"Very well." Cedric simply said in response, not wanting to prolong the conversation.
"You and your friends are all free to go." Capt. Lim said with a smile. "We couldn't find any sign of foul play in Mr. Fernando's remains."
Cedric breathed a sigh of relief, it was good news that they could finally go home.
"What was the cause of death?" Miguel asked.
"It was a heart attack." Capt. Lim said with a shrug. "He wasn't a young man and he was already taking medication for hypertension."
"It's good that he died a natural death." Ian said with a nod. "Don't get me wrong, it's sad that he passed on, but it's good that there was no foul play."
"I just hope Fernando is at peace, wherever he is." Mae said with a frown as she whipped a tear away.
"Miss Mae, I am sure you would like to collect everything that he left for you." Capt. Lim said as he looked up at the young assistant. "I have a list with me, if you don't mind me reading."
"Shouldn't it be his lawyer that does this?" Cedric asked as he looked at the piece of paper in the policeman's hands.
"His lawyer was with us." Capt. Lim said in a hesitant tone. "But your men asked him to stay in the lobby."
Cedric sighed upon hearing the news, sometimes it annoyed him how over the top Leon had set his security up. At all times Cedric had at least five men following him even in the restroom. As a matter of fact he couldn't go in unless the place had been sweeped.
"I'll have someone let him up." Cedric said as he nodded towards Ian.
Ian quickly dialed a number and gave them instructions to let the lawyer up to the presidential suite.
It only took a few minutes, but the lawyer, a young man, soon joined them.
"I'm sorry sir, but damn your bodyguards are hot!" The lawyer exclaimed, taking everyone by surprise.
"Shouldn't you be more formal or something?" Katerina asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh my gosh, you're-" The young lawyer said as he stuttered. "Oh shit!" He cursed.
"A fan?" Cedric asked with a laugh as he teased the young lawyer. "She doesn't bite, much."
"Yeah, she's nasty." Eric teased, earning him an elbow to the rib from his girlfriend, making everyone laugh.
"I'm really a fan, Miss Katerina." The lawyer said as he rushed to shake Katerina's hand. Unfortunately Capt. Lim pulled the young lawyer back, stopping him in his tracks.
"I thought you were here for business Atty. Mien." Capt. Lim scolded.
"I'm guessing you are familiar with the lawyer?" Katerina said with a laugh as she spotted her fan being stopped by the policeman.
"His father and I were very good friends." Capt. Lim said with a nod.
"It's alright captain." Cedric said with a nod. "Why don't you take a seat Atty. Mien?" Cedric told the young lawyer as he gestured to an empty spot next to the police captain.
"Thank you, Mr. Reyes." The lawyer said with a nod as he sat down.
"Why don't we finish your official business here first, then you can chat with Katerina." Cedric suggested, to which the young lawyer simply nodded.
"I'm sorry, but how did you know Fernando?" Mae asked as she looked at the lawyer.
"We met when he first arrived." Atty. Mien said with a shrug. "Soon enough he was asking me to deal with his legal matters. I was more than willing to do it since he had helped me through a tough time."
"Weren't you shocked when he left everything to me?" Mae asked.
"To be honest, no." Atty. Mien said. "He spoke about you a lot. He even joked that he wanted to set us up, and to be honest, I wouldn't mind." The lawyer said as he blushed.
"Mien!" Capt. Lim scolded as he spotted the young man flirting with Cedric's assistant.
"Sorry." Atty. Mien said as he scratched the back of his head. "Anyway, shall we discuss what Fernando left behind for you?" The lawyer asked as Capt. Lim handed him a document.
"I'll go straight to the point, Mae." Atty. Mien said with a sigh. "This will is divided into two people, you and me."
"Oh." Mae said. She wasn't surprised that Fernando had divided his property between two people. She was just confused as to what it meant.
"Fernando didn't like to show how rich he was, but he left quite a sizable amount of money." Mien explained. "This will be divided equally between us after all the taxes and dues have been settled."
"Alright." Mae said with a nod as she tried to process what Mien was telling her.
"As for his properties, he left the apartment he lived in with you, and another property with me. His car will also go to you." Atty. Mien said to which Mae simply nodded.
"Are you alright?" Atty. Mien asked as he noticed her lost and confused expression.
"No." Mae finally said, shaking her head.
