"Do you know how much essence of nature I had to spend in order to come here as fast as I could? Nearly 70 percent of my spirit consciousness is completed and the remaining 30 percent is utilized in the fight against the demon chief. And why do you think I did all of this? To come here to stop that demon army.

Rulf explained why he had come with his full speed while spending some huge amount of essence of nature.

"So, you came to stop the demon army?" Edmond asked while rubbing his chin.

"Yes," Rulf nodded his head and continued, "Now, we have to stop this demon army before the demon army moves far away."

Looking at the demon army which was not very far from them, Rulf asked others to start fighting to stop the demon army.

"Hahaha...you are really an idiot, Rulf," Edmond was unable to control his laugh and jokingly scolded Rulf before saying, "Do you still think this is the first batch of the demon army even after seeing their numbers?"

Pointing his fingers at the demon army, Edmond asked Rulf with a serious face all of a sudden.

"It is not the first batch of the demon army? So, where is it?" After looking at the more than 1500 demons in the demon army, Rulf became anxious and asked Edmond.

"If my guess is right, that demon army must have already crossed the cursed wilderness," Edmond said with a nonchalant expression on his face as though he never cared about the demon army exiting the cursed wilderness.

"Why? Why did you not stop them?" Rulf became serious and angrily asked Edmond about it.

"Why should I? Am I some kind of guardian or a protector," Edmond didn't get angry and replied with the same nonchalant expression on his face, "Also, aren't there some mighty sects and great families to protect the human world? How can a lowly mercenary save the human world."

Although Edmond tried his best to kill as many demons as possible, he didn't act as though he never cared about humans.

Also, what he just said now were his true inner feelings, he had always thought in his head and finally, he got a chance to voice them out. So, he said without any break in his words.

"The Guild master always said, you are a great warrior for becoming strong even after what has happened to you and your family. Sigh..but looks like you still can't come out of that thing," Rulf sighed with a disappointed face and continued, "Anyway, I don't have time to waste by talking to a cold person."

After finishing his words, Rulf followed the direction of the second batch of the demon army to catch up to the first batch of the demon army to stop them.

"Anyway, I have to reach before they enter the human towns that are near to the cursed wilderness," Thinking about the nearby towns and cities outside the cursed wilder, the anxiousness in Rulf's heart increased even more.

However, he didn't use much essence of nature in running as it would make him completely drained by the time he reached them and he could not fight the demon army.

"Udo, shall we continue to fight this demon army or go after the first batch of the demon army?" Edmond looked at Udo and asked with a small smile on his face.

"Whatever you say, let's do it. Even if I choose something, you will follow your choice anyway. So, why bother asking me," Udo jokingly scoffed at Edmond and shook his head.

"Looking at Rulf, I can say he will die even before killing half of the demon army from the first batch. If he dies, the guild master will be sad. So, let's attack the first batch of the demon army," Edmond laughed before explaining the reason for choosing the first batch of the demon army.

"Blood rose, can you ask your squad members to take these young cultivators back to the mercenary guild and inform all the other mercenaries to assemble them at the entrance of the cursed wilderness to fight the demon army?" After that, he looked at the Blood rose and asked for her help.

"Father, we won't leave you. We will fight the demon army alongside you," When they heard Edmond's words, all the young cultivators became anxious and hurriedly pleaded with their godfather.

"Children, you did your best in fighting against the demon army and I am proud of you; however, you need rest now. You are in no position to fight them. So, please go back to our squad residence and take some rest," Edmond replied to his godsons and goddaughters with a small smile on his face that made no one to retort back at him.

"So, what do you say, Blood rose?" After calming his children, Edmond asked the Blood rose once again.

"Everyone, you are also tired and didn't sleep for a few days. So, go back and take some rest," Blood rose ordered her squad members to leave.

Even if Edmond had not asked her, she would have done that same because all of her squad members' faces were pale and looked extremely tired.

"Yes, captain," No one retorted her orders and nodded their heads.

"Red-eyed bat, come out,"

After seeing that her squad members agreed to her order, she summoned a huge bat that had a red coloured eye. Just looking at its eyes could make one hypnotized.

Except for its eyes, all the skin on its body was in a pitch-black colour.

"Take them to the mercenary guild and come back," Blood rose ordered her summoner beast to carry the young cultivators and her squad members to the guild.

"Screech"

The red-eyed bat released an echo as though it understood what to do and waited for the young cultivators and the blood rose mercenary squad members to climb on to it.

'Swesh'

As soon as everyone climbed onto it, it flapped its huge wings and flew away towards the exit of the cursed wilderness from another direction that was different from the direction the second batch of the demon army took.

"Huh? Where did you get that rank 4 red-eyed bat?" Edmond was surprised at the Blood rose's summoned beast. According to him, the Blood rose feared the bat type spirit beasts and over time, she started hating them because of that fear; however, now he was surprised to find a red-eyed bat as her contract spirit beast.

'It is from the evil inheritance ground I was forced to enter after the death of my sister. It saved my life in the inheritance ground and it wanted to leave from there. So, I formed a contract with it and brought it back with me,' Blood roses said in a small smile on her face that made Edmond's heartache.
