Chapter 878: Demonic Energy

Seeing that the tribe leader Deon disappeared from his place, Ajax became alert and kept an eye on his back.

'Rumble'

"It's over, kid."

However, who would have expected the tribe leader Deon to come out of the ground beneath him.

He widely opened his mouth to swallow Ajax as a whole.

Ajax cursed as he didn't have enough time to dodge the attack.

Bane and Necros replied at the same time, making Errol even more furious.

"You can watch him die but I can't."

Nevertheless, he wanted to help Ajax even though he felt it was already late in saving him.

'Swoosh'

However, before he could take a single step, Errol was pulled away by a brown-coloured tentacle which surprised all the tribesmen because they were unable to see which spirit beast pulled Errol away.

Of course, it was the five elemental spirit beast, Pentapus with cultivation of peak rank 6 along with five level 1 elemental laws.

So, Errol didn't stand a chance against it.

As for the tribesmen, they only looked at Errol for a moment before focusing on the fight between their tribe leader and Ajax because it was more interesting for them.

'Gulp'

However, the huge demon fox didn't kill Ajax; instead, he just swallowed him before throwing him out of his mouth.

'Aargh'

As soon as he fell to the ground, Ajax could not help but groan in pain because his entrie body was covered with some black energy that made him feel like he was being pierced by thousands of sharp needles.

'Thud'

Ajax tried to stand up by enduring the pain; however, he could maintain stability and fell to the ground.

'Didn't I say that this fight is just a waste of time for our tribe leader?'

'Yeah. It's true. Even I could have killed him. He is just wasting our tribe leader's valuable time.'

'It can't even last for a couple of attacks...he is too arrogant to challenge our tribe leader.'

Soon, all the tribesmen mocked Ajax for trying what he could not achieve with his current cultivation.

"Kid, I would have killed you already if not for you saving my old friend Errol; however, as long as you admit defeat then I will take my demonic energy back."

The huge demon fox turned back into the old fox man as Deon asked Ajax to admit defeat.

'Aargh'

How could Ajax just admit defeat without putting up an actual fight?

So, he didn't give a reply as he tried to stand once again; however, the moment he stood, his pain increased to an unimaginable level that made him groan once again as he fell to the ground.

"The more you force yourself, the more painful it will become for you. Also, with each passing second, my demonic energy will consume your essence of nature to increase its power."

Looking at the struggling Ajax in front of him, the old man Deon shook his head as he continued to convince Ajax to give up the fight.

"After completely absorbing your essence of nature, it will start absorbing the blood from your body and make you a dried-up corpse. So, I suggest you just give up the fight. So, you can go back and increase your cultivation."

After finishing his words, the old man Deon looked at Ajax as though he was expecting that Ajax would give up.

"Give up? In your dreams."

Ajax scoffed at the old man Deon while gritting his teeth.

"Fine then. I will see how long you will last."

The tribe leader Deon just shrugged his hands and didn't bother to convince Ajax into admitting the defeat.

'What should I do? There must be some way to remove this demonic energy.'

Ajax noticed that the essence of nature from his spirit consciousness was starting to decrease at an incredible speed and at the same time, the demonic energy on his body was also getting stronger.

'Wait for a second.'

All of a sudden, Ajax thought of something and asked the system about it.

'System, since the old man Deon said this is some kind of energy, can I absorb it into my body?'

Since he was running out of time, Ajax didn't waste any time as he asked the system as soon as possible.

'Ding,

Yes, it is possible. The host can absorb the energy into the body to temper his own body; instead of absorbing it into the spirit consciousness.

'Excellent. I will start absorbing this energy into my body.'

After reading the system notification, Ajax felt relieved as he decided to follow the system suggesting absorbing the demonic energy into his body instead of absorbing it into the spirit consciousness.

Ajax didn't know about other cultivators but he was confident in absorbing the energy into his body to temper the body.

By doing that, the pain Ajax was currently feeling would be increased even more; however, as long as he was determined, he would not die because of the pain while tempering the body.

'Instead of definite death, it's better to endure the pain to live.'

According to the tribe leader Deon's words, if Ajax didn't' admit defeat, he would die because of the demonic energy. So, Ajax thought it was better to stay alive compared to experiencing a little more pain.
