224 Piecing It Together

As soon as Lady Yvon saw her son step through the door, she stood up immediately.

"Mother…" before he could say anything, Eskyl felt a slap across his face.

"What on Earth did you think you were doing?!" Lady Yvon exclaimed.

But before he could reply, his mother cupped his face in her hands with worried eyes. He always was her favourite, despite how tough she was on him. No matter what he did, his mother was always there to defend and protect him.

"It all went to my head," Eskyl explained.

Lady Yvon looked to the sides before she whispered to her son, "We need to get you out of here. Before the King finds you."

"Brighter days," Sylvy greeted her mother as she entered the room before she continued, "I already found him, Lady Yvon. You need not worry about that."

Lady Yvon was surprised by the development. Just a moment ago, she was worried about the safety of her son. Now, she was not certain about what was going on. If Sylvy already discovered Eskyl, why was he still allowed to be here and not in the dungeon?

As her thoughts spiralled through a dark tunnel, Lady Yvon said, "Is this some sick joke you're making, your Majesty? A moment of kindness only to stab us in the back?"

Eskyl held Lady Yvon back, "What are you talking about, mother?"

Sylvy could feel the spite in her mother's words. She did not want to waste time explaining herself either. None of it ever bode well for her. Seeing how much care her mother had for her brother made Sylvy needlessly jealous.

But she always pushed those feelings deeper into her heart. Seeing how distant she was from them, she decided not to linger in the room anymore than she needed to.

"Well, it was great to see you too mother. Thank you so much for your visit to the castle. The Flutterheart Family Guards will be escorting you home when you're ready to leave.

Eskyl, I will leave you to speak with our mother. I will take my leave and turn in for the night. See you tomorrow for Morning Court," Sylvy swiftly said before she took her leave.

"Wait…" Eskyl's words did not reach her as Sylvy hurried out of the room.

Tinee was following closely behind her as they returned to her quarters where Ramas, Vyrena and Lycster waited for her to continue their dinner together. Everyone could tell that something bothered Sylvy.

Only Vy dared to ask, "Is something the matter, your Majesty?"

Sylvy looked up at Vy, her eyes filled with emotion and unspoken words. Without her having to say anything, Vy reached over and poured her a glass of sweet wine.

"It's not the best cure in the world, but it does help a little," Vy said as she handed Sylvy the glass.

Sylvy smiled and thanked Vy for it.

She wanted to chat with her.

"Of course," Vy agreed to stay.

She turned to Lycster and said, "Would you be alright going back to the room on your own?"

"I'll be alright! Don't go wandering elsewhere after you're done!" he teased her before he left the room with Ramas.

Vy grinned, she knew what Lycster was jabbing at. She would get back at him for it later. Seeing the expression on Vy's face made Sylvy curious.

"What was that about?" she asked as they went to the balcony.

"It's pretty embarrassing," Vy commented.

Seeing the blush on Vy's face, Sylvy quickly replied, "It's alright if you don't want to share. I won't force you,"

There was no harm in letting Sylvy know, so Vy told her the story of the time she had gotten a little drunk while Lycster and her were at Yama Yoma. She had gotten drunk and ended up wandering into the wrong room.

She had only discovered it the next morning when she woke up next to Dygo.

"Oh my," Sylvy commented as she took a sip from her glass, "So this… Dygo. Do you have feelings for him?"

Sylvy's sudden personal question caught Vy completely off guard. Unknown to her, she was blushing beet red. It was not just the alcohol they had drunk.

"What… I…" an image of Dygo appeared in Vy's mind.

The memory of the embrace they shared floated in her mind.

"I don't know," Vy quickly replied as she took another sip from her glass.

Seeing Vy's expression caused Sylvy to go into a laughing fit, "It sure looks like you do!"

"What no!" Vy tried to defend herself.

"What about you and Ramas?" Vy swiftly switched the topic with a grin on her face, "Surely you two have something going on."

Now, it was Sylvy's turn to be blushing.

"I don't know what you're talking about!" she replied nervously as she set the glass down on the table.

A quick glance to the side confirmed Vy's suspicions. Tinee's face said it all. Pointing to the lady in waiting, Vy said, "Even Tinee thinks so. Look at her!"

Sylvy pouted as she turned to Tinee, "What? You too?"

Tinee was caught off guard by the conversation. But having seen how the two of them interacted with one another, it was difficult to deny that something was going on between the two of them.

"Now that I think about it… so Ramas was the previous negotiator. I was brought in because the previous negotiator could not continue it due to conflict of interest," Vy commented.

She pointed to Sylvy and said, "It was because of you…"

Sylvy's face blushed even more, she could not find the words to reply.

"And you!" Vy exclaimed, still pointing towards Sylvy, "You're thinking of leaving, because of Ramas?"

She can't deny that he was not part of the reason. Ramas often told Sylvy about the many places that exist outside of Papillion. But it was not until Vy's appearance and having interacted with her and Anja that solidified the idea in her mind.

"It's not just for him, it's for me too!" she commented.

As soon as those words left her mouth, Sylvy placed her hand on her mouth.

Her heart had leapt out of her mouth to say how she truly felt.
