"Dygo, is that you?"
This time, she seemed closer. Dygo looked up, searching for the source of the voice. His eyes widened in surprise as he realised his surroundings were remarkably different. Where was the endless snowy landscape of the Frost Tundra?
A shadow loomed over him, then a person appeared before him.
-I must be hallucinating.- he thought to himself.
How could any of this be real? He was seeing Vyrena, in the flesh, right in front of him. The last time they had met was weeks ago and from what he recalled, she had gone in the opposite direction of where he was headed.
"Are you alright? You're so cold." Vy anxiously commented.
His entire body was ice cold. His heartbeat was slow. Worst of all, he was not responding. The High Priestess Asther was surprised by the condition of the summoned person. She quickly called for more assistance.
Vy summoned the flames of her Kyu powers, hoping that it would help to warm him up. Small spheres of flame surrounded both of them. She increased the intensity of the flames, hoping the high temperatures would help to melt the snow around them and warm Dygo up quicker.
Just then, she felt a hand cupping her cheek. Vy blushed as she realised Dygo was looking straight at her, holding her face in his hand. She placed her hand on his, hoping to warm him up quicker.
"Are you real?" Dygo asked.
Vy paused for a moment. She did not know how to answer his question.
"Uh,.. of course I am. Why wouldn't I be?" she replied.
Before anything else could happen, Vy felt his hand losing strength, falling to the side. Dygo lost consciousness as he fell sideways onto the ground. Seeing the situation taking a turn for the worse, the High Priestess called for more assistance.
Out in the Spectator Arena, Lycster and Aether witnessed the entire scene through the live cast. They were still in shock by what was happening. All the other spectators were surprised by what was happening as well.
As help was being called in to get Dygo some proper care and treatment, the participants were also transported out of the maze and reunited with their friends. Aether took to his winged serpent form.
-Lycster, let's go see if they are alright.- Aether suggested.
"Right,"
Lycster rode on Aether's back as they flew towards the corn maze. Under the High Priestess's suggestion, they brought Dygo to their village healer in hopes that he would be able to tell what they should do next.
"That's good to hear," Vy heaved a sigh of relief as she continued to use her powers to keep him warm.
After a couple of hours, Dygo woke up. He was disoriented from what had happened but seeing Vy again made him wonder if he was still dreaming. She explained to him where he was and what had happened, hoping it would help him realise that it was not a dream.
"So you summoned me in the maze?" Dygo tried to rationalise Vy's version of events.
"Well… technically the High Priestess summoned you. As a umm… reward for completing the Scavenger Hunt event. I didn't mean too… ah… I mean," Vy flustered as she tried to explain herself.
Seeing his sister fumble at making proper sentences amused Lycster. So he decided to give her a helping hand.
"The prize of the Scavenger hunt was the chance to summon someone, dead or alive, to the island! So sis summoned you here!"
Vy did not know what to say in this situation. She also did not realise that her face was now beet red in embarrassment. She did not know why she decided to summon Dygo to the island. She could have summoned Elette, or anyone else.
Dygo turned to look at Vy. To see her blushing like that brought a smile to his face if he could actually smile. He was happy to see her again, especially after having spent weeks in nothing but snow and cold weather.
Thinking back to the freezing temperatures also reminded him of the mission he had to accomplish.
"Will I be here permanently?" he asked.
"Oh no no! You will be sent back to where you were at the end of the festival, which is in a few days. So for the time being, you can spend it here. With us!" Lycster exclaimed with excitement.
After all, it was more fun to attend a festival with more people around.
"I'm sorry for taking you out of your mission! I did not intend on it happening like this. If you want, I'll go get the High Priestess to send you back right away," Vy apologised in a fluster.
Her mind was swirling like a whirlwind. She got up to go and get the High Priestess but someone held onto her hand, keeping her grounded in place.
"No, it's alright. I can stay for a few days." Dygo replied swiftly.
Aether and Lycster who watched the entire scene unfold chuckled at the sight of the both of them. Dygo realised what he had done after he had made his statement. He quickly let go of Vy's hand and cleared his throat.
"I mean, if that's alright with all of you as well," he added.
Lycster's mouth was coiled up into the largest toothed smile he could possibly master as he held his breath. He eagerly waited for his sister to reply. Aether was also amused by the unfolding scene. The Familiar could practically hear Vy's heart palpitating.
"It's… that's fine. You can stay if you like," Vy replied as she bit her lip.
