The High Priestess will perform the ritual to send Dygo back to where he was originally so that he could continue with his mission. Vy reminisced about the time they had spent the night before, watching the fireworks go off in the sky.
She was so distracted that she almost walked into a tree.
"Sis! Are you alright?" Lycster asked out of concern after Vy had hit her head against the tree bark.
"I'm alright," she smiled, "Just distracted."
He was not going to let her off this easily!
"Are you thinking of someone?" he asked with a cute innocent expression.
Aether was coiled around Vy's wrist, he was proud of Lycster, he had taught him well. Vy bit her lip as she tried to play it off cool. She ruffled her brother's hair.
"Just thinking about something."
Lycster folded his arms and placed a finger on his chin as if he was deep in thought. "Could it be a certain someone we're sending off today?"
Unfortunately, the boy was not a master of emotions, the wicked grin on his face gave it all away. Vy chuckled as she pulled Lycster by the ear, causing him to yelp in shock.
"Who taught you to ask such questions? Hmm?" she questioned him.
"Ahhh...oww! That hurts!" he struggled out of his sister's grasp, "I surrender! Aether was the one."
Aether sighed, the boy was a traitor. He could also sense the death glare Vy was giving him from the side. The Familiar cleared his throat and denied all responsibility.
-I have no part to play in this.- he declared.
"Oh really?" Vy asked.
-Real...really.-
"Don't you dare play games with me, Aether." she probed.
The Familiar did not look at Vy in the eyes. He might be a master of his emotions and words but Vy could sniff out anything he was trying to keep from her. He could never win her.
Their conversation was cut short as they arrived at their destination where Dygo was already waiting for them. He was wearing his usual outfit, with his hood over his head and his staff in his hands.
The fire garnet pendant hung around his neck, absorbing the sunlight around it to increase its power. Since the High Priestess was not there yet, Dygo struck up a conversation with Vy. He had been thinking about something the entire night before, he was hoping to ask her a question.
After the time they had spent together on the island, and their previous encounters, he felt as though they had a special connection. Maybe it was their many random run-ins with one another and the conversations they've had.
Having her by his side made him a little less cold, a little less lonely.
Vy turned to face him as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear, "What is it?"
"I…"
Why were these words so difficult for him to say? He merely hoped that they would meet one another again. Dygo did not know how long the mission would take him to complete. But he hoped, even if it was just a small glimmer of hope, that he would be able to see her again.
Seeing Dygo being unable to say what he wanted, worried Vy. Was something wrong? Did he have something important to say? As her heart raced, she could feel her entire face heating up. Even the tips of her ears were warm?
Vy did not sleep well the night before. She had spent most of the night thinking about her various encounters with Dygo. From the first time they met to the awkward night they spent together at Yama Yoma.
-Maybe he's trying to bring that up.- she taught to herself.
"I'm sorry about what happened that night," Vy blurted out without thinking.
She did not give him a chance to say anything.
"I… I was drunk and I didn't know where I was going I thought that I went into my room and as it turns out it wasn't. It was an honest mistake! Honest! I'm not saying that we won't be together or anything. I mean… ah what am I saying. I mean we could be together, I mean that could be a possibility but umm… not like I am forcing you to be with me or anything."
Aether and Lycster watched on with their mouths gaped open. What on earth was going on right now?
The more Vy tried to control the words coming out of her mouth, the more she flustered she got. She was like a fish out of water, flipping and flopping as she tried to find a body of water to fall into but there were none.
"I mean a relationship would only work if two people want to be together. It can't just be one-sided, right? Ah what am I even saying I-"
Before she could even process what was happening, Vy could feel the distance between her and Dygo disappeared in an instant. She was in his arms. With her ear on his chest, she could hear his palpitating heart.
They were so close.
Something about it felt familiar.
Something about it felt right.
"After my mission is complete, will you go on a date with me?"
Vy's eyes widened in shock. She looked up at Dygo, looking straight into his eyes. Was he joking with her? Was she dreaming? Maybe she was too tired from the night before and all of this was just a dream sequence playing in her mind.
Lycster jaw remained dropped.
Aether smiled.
"Are… are you joking with me?" Vy asked.
She had to know. If this was a joke, she was not going to let him off easily! If this was real…
"No, not joking. For real. Honest." he assured her.
"I mean, that is if you would be alright with it." he continued as he released her from the hug.
What was he doing! Asking Vy out on a date? What if she already had someone in mind? He did not even know if she was already seeing someone else. A beautiful, powerful and strong young woman like her would not have a lack of suitors.
He was making a fool of himself.
"I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable with this. I just… it felt just felt like the right thing to-"
Vy leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek.
As soon as she did so, her entire face blushed beet red.
-Vy what are you doing! Are you insane?!- she chided herself in her mind.
She cleared her throat and answered in a wavering voice, "I guess that pretty much answers your question."
