Vy could see Ronni and the other hybrid survivors barely keeping up. Their bows and crossbows were no match against the drakes. In their desperation, they had picked up the swords and other melee weapons dropped by fallen survivors to fend themselves.
"I'll go help the hybrids, you two go get the humans through. We don't have much time before the wall self-repairs. Let's go!" Vyrena instructed before splitting up.
She kept her dagger and focused on using her sword. A drake noticed she was wide open. It lunged forward towards Vyrena. Seizing the opportunity, Vy slid underneath the creature, slicing open its belly.
The drake squealed in agony as its blood and guts spilt from the open wound. Vyrena quickly climbed on top of it and drove her sword through its eye. As she did so, another beast had lunged itself towards her from the side.
Vy had no time to react. But just as the creature was about to claw at her head-on, Red Silk rushed in from the side and knocked it to the ground.
"Get your head in the game, Vyrena," Red Silk warned as he went forward to dispatch the snarling drake.
"Thank you!" She thanked him, before redirecting her attention to the next creature.
Ronni was just about to be bitten by a drake when Cass stood before him and fend the creature off with a blade. The drake had unhinged its jaw at them but Cass stuck the sword in its mouth.
Moments later, Vy appeared before them. She had jumped onto the back of the creature to distract it.
"Go to the tunnel, now!"
Ronni and Cass heeded Vy's instruction and headed there immediately, leaving her to fight off the drake. Taking out her dagger, she stabbed the drake multiple times into its skull.
Blood spewed and splattered in every direction as the drake writhed in pain. It was trying to get Vy off it's back and threw her with great force. Vy did not have time to react.
Before she knew it, her back hit the bark of a tree. The momentum of the force caused Vy to swing her head back, knocking it hard against the bark. A searing pain surged through her head.
-No! I can't lose consciousness now!- she said to herself as she shook her head.
Everything was a blur. Everything was spinning.

The voice screamed in her head.
Vy did not understand what was going on. She tried to get back up on her feet, but she could barely stand without support. She looked out onto the battlefield. From what she could see, Red Silk managed to dispatch a few of the drakes.
Just then, Vy could feel verberation all round her. The pieces of rocks that had fallen from the wall were shaking violently.
"The wall is repairing itself," she muttered to herself.
"THE WALL IS REPAIRING ITSELF! GET THROUGH THE TUNNEL NOW!" Vy exclaimed at the top of her lungs.
Everyone who heard immediately ran towards the tunnel. The fallen pieces of the wall were slowly weaving their way back towards the wall, seamlessly sealing back in.
Vy made her way towards it as well, watching as everyone went through it. Just then, she heard an ear-piercing scream. It was El's voice. Vy turned to find the source, El and Fendrif were fighting off a drake when Fendrif's arm was bitten clean off.
She rushed down towards them, tripping over a rock as she went. But Vy quickly got back up and continued towards them. She got there just in time as the drake was about to attack them head-on.
Vy held her blade defensively, pushing head-on against the drake.
"El leave now, quickly!" Vy shouted through gritted teeth as she resisted the drake.
She planted her feet into the ground but the force of the creature was pushing her back.
"No… I…"
"There's no time! I will take care of Fendrif! Now go! Before it's too late for all of us!"
El wanted to protest but she knew it was of no use. She heeded Vy's words and made a run for the wall. Almost half of the once damaged wall was fully fixed. They were running out of time.
Vy gritted her teeth as she pushed the drake back. She was still suffering from a splitting headache. She could barely see straight. Fendrif was bleeding profusely grunting in pain.
Before she could even check on him, another drake appeared out of nowhere and bit onto Fendrif's right leg.
"Fendrif! NO!" She yelled at the top of her lungs.
Vy did not even have a split second for her to react. The drake dragged Fendrif on the ground. Three other drakes appeared out of nowhere and ripped his body to shreds.
His screams of agony rung loud and clear in her ears. He was eaten alive. Distracted by what she had just witnessed, the drake she was fighting lunged itself at her with greater force.
Vy was flung several metres, heavily landing against the ground. Her back hit first before she landed on her arm. Vy winced in pain on the rough landing. She looked up towards the wall, she could barely see it properly.
The wall was closing up. She crawled towards it, reaching her hand out towards it. But it was useless. The wall was now fully repaired. The monkey beasts had all but disappeared, leaving behind the drakes.
There were at least five of them left. With her back facing against the wall, Vy tried to find her sword but it was lost. She cursed beneath her breath.
At the very least, she still had her dagger.

After their gingerbread castle was complete, Vy and Lycster carefully moved it to the coffee table in the living room. Now, it was time for them to begin prepping for their Log Day Dinner. Since it was only the two of them, they made smaller portions of each dish.
Their meal began with two appetisers. It was a portion of small smoked sausages wrapped in bacon and a cheese board with crackers and cranberry jam. For their main course, it was a herb-infused succulent roasted chicken, chopped roasted potatoes in butter, and a roasted assortment of vegetables.
To cap off their meal, they had cinnamon bread pudding with vanilla bean sauce and cherry pie. With everything ready and laid out on the dinner table, both of them sat down and began to dig in.
As soon as Vy took a bite of the roasted chicken, she could smell the aromatic herbs and taste the moist chicken. The roasted vegetables were sauteed with sea salt and black pepper. It helped to balance out the other flavours present in the other dishes.
For drinks, Vy made some fruit flavoured tea while Lycster had mixed fruit juice. By the time they got to dessert, they thought they could not eat another bite. As Vy cut into the pie, revealing its moist, cherry-filled insides, both of them could not resist eating a slice each.
"I… I am too full," Lycster exclaimed after he swallowed the final bite of his cherry pie.
"Me too, I don't think I can take another bite," Vy agreed with him as she leaned back in her chair.
With their meal complete, they moved the leftover food into the kitchen before moving to the living room. The fireplace crackled in the background as Vy put on some music. She brewed a pot of hot water and made them each a cup of hot cocoa with mini marshmallows.
The siblings headed over to the living room, cozying up on the sofa with a soft blanket over them. Looking over to the lit fir tree, there was a small heap of wrapped presents. Each of the presents had a tag on them, with the name of the giver and receiver on them.
