Chapter 108 - The Institute (49)

Crash!–

As if a pause button had been pressed, the player looked suspiciously down at his feet, only to see that from the shelf, a small intact glass vial had come crashing down, shattering into tiny wet pieces and spilling the glowing red liquid from the vial onto the floor.

They all stared at the liquid on the floor, instantly feeling that something had changed in the room.

There was a sudden commotion, 

"Hey!–Shen Ti what are you doing.."

"Wu You?"

"Ke Xun, hey–"

From beside them, a few of players who had been acting normally all along suddenly rushed towards the direction of the blood, flinging themselves to the floor and under the players incredulous gaze started to lap at the blood regardless of filthy floors with long churned out tongues. They acted so suddenly that the players didn't even have time to stop them so under their incredulous gazes, these players hungrily slumped up the liquid with intoxicated and greedy faces!

Tang Shun's brows furrowed, this wasn't like Chao Bin's instinctive want to replenish yang, this was more like the greed of a lower creature towards a higher evolution. Just as in most myths wherein mortals believed that consuming the flesh and blood of something more powerful than them would give them chance of ascending to immortality. 

The question was, what creature blood would evoke such an intense reaction in these creatures, even breaking their cover just for a taste of this blood!

This was obviously an intelligent creature although weak it could spread like spores and invade the nerves of all creatures, mimic its brainwaves and autonomously allow it to continue emitting signs of life even after death, what would cause such an advanced species abandon its own camouflage–

He thought of the inexplicable resentment most of the monster'ss they've encountered had towards Chu Yi....

The rest of the players had similar confused and horrified faces, what was happening.

The situation was so sudden, none of them could react

The fishy odor in the room exploded, the scent of rotten and decomposing flesh poured in waves from the bodies of the players on the ground,

The man who had spilled the vial had a distorted and disgusted look and even as he moved to get out of their way, he couldn't help but sending a kick to the freaks on the floor.

Are these people mad–

But they weren't people anymore.

The players on the floor didn't care, their skin quickly became bloated and sallow and yellow, the hair in their head quickly fell out in thick clumps, their faces quickly became thin and sunken as if whatever was inside them was rapidly draining their bodies of all its nutrients, 

These were parasites!

The room fell into a deathly silence, only the sound of slurping and heavy breathing echoing in the empty walls.

The tensions was starting to build as most of the players seemed to sense something wrong and started to slowly backed away from the group on the floor,

They didn't know how much time had passed but when the players on the floor finally stopped, there was nothing but a sagging shell of what they used to be, regardless instead of getting up, a series of distorted cracking noise ruptured from their bodies as something under their skin seemed to bulge up hideously, bloody red capillaries started appearing from the stretched skin, beating like a heart, the bulge seemed to settle in their abdomen as it expanded out hideously like a pregnant belly–

The pale blue blood vessels and red veins were densely covered, as if he was about to give birth–

"Scree––"

The bulging players suddenly let out a scream as if they were summoning something,

Chu Yi's heart suddenly skipped a beat, without thinking he relied on his own weight to yank the two beside him directly on the ground,

Almost instantly, right above the spot where their heads would have been, several sharp pincers as savage as the spears, slammed into empty air with the speed of lightning.

If they had been caught, their necks would have been cleanly ripped off their body leaving only scarlet blood to spurt from the open stump!

As if angered from not catching its prey, the pincers snapped towards the other players behind them, the speed was so fast, that Chu Yi on the ground felt as if there was a missile passing above his head,

The players were relatively experienced and most managed to escape but one player was unlucky and was intentionally or unintentionally shoved right into the path of the upcoming attack!

The pincers plunged into his skin and with a wretched scream, the player was actually lifted up by the pincers, his body shaken in the air as his shoulders and thighs were penetrated by the barbed pincers.

After feeling the warm flesh and blood, the pincers began to stir and rip into his body like a horrifying carnival ride, blood sprayed out like an open faucet!

The player hollered in pain and with a dying struggle pulled out a deep dagger that shine with a toxic purple sheen, it's steel blades were soaked with a special corrosive bio-agent that could hurt anything . In the blade's swing, several pieces of the pincers were chopped off. However, in this short moment, the scorpion monster had already fully appeared, and it's arms slammed into the wound of the player, tearing the large piece of warm muscle like ripping a piece of paper,

The player cried and begged for mercy-

"Do not..."

His agonized face was directly in the line of sight of he others and they could see him being slowly ripped apart from the seams, the mans screams slowly died and then with a final push, the player was torn in half! Blood and viscera splashing onto the faces of the players below! 

The scorpion mutant, under their horrified gazes suddenly opened its mangled jaws wide and shoved the players corpse inside, a crunchy chewing sound grating their ears as the players was grinded into meet sauce, blood and saliva falling from the mouth of the monster. 

They seemed to hear the players final cry of "help me..." still echoing in their minds.

The players head hit the floor at their feet, eyes still wide open even in death.

They looked back at monster, it's lower body merged together like the hind limb of a long scorpion. A layer of fine gray scales covered the back and sides of his body. It's abdomen and chest had no scales but were densely spotted with hundred of tiny raised bumps. The bare and exposed skin as pale as a ghost and the eyes having degenerated into two empty white glass beads. The same thing is set on the smooth, no-faceted face, the mouth-shaped openings with sharp teeth.

This was a monster from hell!

"Ahhh–"

A shrill scream woke the incredulous players up, they turned their heads, they didn't know when but one of the mutant players had grabbed onto another player's head in his arms, from a distance it would seem as if they were hugging and kissing like a passionate lovers, 

However the man's facial features was twisted, as if he was in great pain, his chest twitched and heaved violently, and clear ribs protruded from under his clothes as something crawled into his body from the other man's mouth and started eating away at his internal organs!

Some brave players tried their best to separate them but with this tearing action, the players were horrified to see that the man's belly had at some point merged with the mutant player, therefore when they tore them apart the man abdomen was abruptly ripped open! 

But what was even more terrible was the fact that expected blood and organs did not fall from the gaping hope in his abdomen, the ripped open skin actually revealed that the man had been eaten to point of emptiness, the translucent skin of his lower body was completely clear,

There was nothing inside him–

Inside they could still a thick fleshy larva as thick as a tongue stuck to his stomach, absorbing his flesh and nutrients violently and grwoing rapidly and quickly, as the man's body dries up like a deflated balloon!

The players watched this scene at a loss.

The was a brief second of calm and then all hell broke loose!

The monster rampaged behind them and the parasite drained their bodies, Chao Bin grabbed nervously onto Tang Shun's hand, looking around at the worrisome chaos with some doubt, the screaming, fighting and running around just seemed to him like a deliberately orchestrated play run by someone with a particularly evil taste,

He couldn't make sense of anything at all,

Tang Shun suddenly pulled him into his arms, the expensive charcoal scent quickly flooded his senses, Chao Bin's heart jumped but before he could process the situation, from beside ears, he heard a loud shing as a pitch-black pincers narrowly missed his head!

The frantic embarrassment in his heart didnt have time to set roots, when it was abruptly replaced by a heavy chill, the pincers was so fast that it didn't gave anyone anytime to process before it was already in front of them! 

Tang Shun wrapped his arms around the boy in his arms and raised his head sharply to look at the disgusting monster, his eyes dilated into thin slits and his attitude of watching a play was replaced by cold anger,

He turned to Chu Yi, slanted eyes upturned with a dangerous light, "What are we going to do now."

Chu Yi's actions answered him,

"Bang–"

The sound of a gunshot suddenly buzzed in their eardrums, like a high pitch that rushed to the top of the scalp and stopped abruptly, leaving their heads feeling as if it had been slammed repeatedly into the walls,

Where the bullet hit, It was like fireworks had suddenly exploded, a blood mist scattered like a popped water balloon, after that, the skull and brain scum flew everywhere, meat, viscera and fat splattering on the cold metal walls!

Even in the chaos, some people couldn't help but look back, the man in front of them had a sweet smile and a beautiful face, but his demonic and excited red eyes told them this was a dangerous person, a demom, and one without any mercy.

The devil of everyone's heart. 

The hazy smoke from the gun slowly rose, obscuring Chu Yi's faced in a sultry dangerous air, the corner of his red lips were raised, and the primal excitement from being outflanked by mortal danger, the smell of blood and gunpowder, the scream of hapless souls, the bloodthirst in his heart erupted like scorching lava,

A smile raised high on his lip, red eyes were ablaze–

This is his paradise!

Suddenly the body of the player who was shot burst like a popped water balloon, and before he could react the person closest to the spray was drenched by the digestive juices and almost immediately the burnt and red skin exuded a smell like something was being roasted in a fire pit. The skin on his entire body turned black and curled up to reveal the bright red and pulsing muscles, but in a few seconds, the muscles begin to darken and grey with atrophy!

Even the mutants blood was poison!

The drenched players body became the most horrible thing to look at the world in the world in just a few seconds. Half his body was like melting, and the stinky paste is peeling off her body like hot wax–

"Ahhhh–"

Losing the support of his skeleton, and the skin of his abdominal cavity being burnt into a bloody hole, his internal organs fell from the middle of the open flesh tunnel track full of dark red blood and viscera, the poison quickly spread and finally turned into a disgusting yellow mucus.

That wasn't the worse part, from the yellow mucus, wiggling pink flesh larvae suddenly appeared –

They were reproducing from their host!

These things couldn't be killed!

Chu Yi glanced at the bloody yellow liquid on the floor and suddenly threw the gun to Tang Shun, from his right hand appeared a scarlet red sword, glinting with tyrannical hungry light,

From the corner of his eyes, he saw a sharp, pitch black claw barreling towards with an inescapable might, the corner of his lips raised and he flipped the sword in his hands–

Chu Yi smiled crazily, a twisted and wanton light flashing in his red eyes, body crouched, his heart pumped, he lifted the knife in his hand, he was prepared to meet it head on!
