Tang Shun stood before the heavy black tower and looked up at the gloomy night sky. Chu Yi stood beside him and pulled at the red tie that wrapped around his slender neck. The eyes that held the same crimson color squinted lightly.
Both of them stood in the silent shadows before moving towards the towers.
"The auction isn't just a regular auction, every year only a certain amount of people get access to it. To be granted rights, you must complete the host's game. It changes every year but the relevant difficulty only increases."
Suddenly Chu Yi's steps paused and he turned to Tang Shun, "I have to go back and find something."
Tang Shun glanced at him and nodded.
Chu Yi didn't explain and he didn't ask, with a twist of his feet, Chu Yi disappeared into the darkness.
He slowly walked to the front of the tower, the golden invitation hanging faintly from his fingertips.
The time was approaching.
Where no one could see, the space in the huge tower dome began to twist and expand.
Rows of long tables lined with white napkins appeared out of thin air, and the heavy floors were covered with marbles tiles that carried marvelous patterns.
At a higher level, the red gold chandelier changed, as if an invisible giant hand was gathered in the air and then merged, combining the chandelier and replacing it with a crystal tower. A string of tassels flickered at the top, lighting up an entire hall. The gloomy and depressing silence was driven away by a melodious chime and on the gorgeous walls, In another place, a heavy podium rose, followed by countless red chairs that stood to the back of the room, waiting for its guests.
Layers of champagne and wine were placed on the long table, and waiters in black tuxedos holding metal trays in their hands came matching out of the side halls.
On the other side, a huge champagne tower dangled in the air with rich colors. Filling the air with a drunken and hazy scent. Small square discs filled with all kinds of weird dessert cakes glowed brightly under the warm light, strange and vibrant.
In the half-court on the first and second floors above, crimson tapestries hung from the dome, completely cutting off the things inside.
On the ground, a group of musicians is playing a soothing serenade in G major. The music conductor is facing the dance floor below, waving his hands melodiously in the air, in a relaxed posture. The entire scene resembled the Cinderella fairytale.
Slowly the players trickled in and soon enough, the room was filled with the hum of low chatter and mingling. Player's in suits and masks wandered around and stopped in the face of acquaintances. The occasional loud bout of laughter and cheer was in direct contrast to the cold and dark shadows that lurked in the city outside.
Suddenly there was a low exclamation at the door and heads turned to look in that direction.
Black suit, small waistcoat, dark red bronzing tie, Egyptian cross. Half-length black hair tied up, leather gloves, and shiny black leather shoes. The blood-red mask, the frivolous air that seeped from his bones, the danger, and the grace of the casual gestures.
The bright red eyes from beneath the mask rolled lazily, one hand naturally picked up a glass of red wine as a waiter walked past, and another inserted arrogantly into one pocket. Just standing there, Chu Yi naturally attracted the attention of the entire room.
He didn't seem to care about the looks of others and after searching with his eyes, Chu Yi locked onto Tang Shun's figure standing silently at the corner of the room, and without hesitation, he walked over. Although the player's stare was eventually removed, the previously unnoticed corner was now infiltrated with a certain light.
The dark red earring stud in Chu Yi's ears reflected in the cold light of Tang Shun's glasses, he didn't ask what Chu Yi had forgotten and instead pointed to the double-sided door at the end of the room.
"Don't go there.
Chu Yi tilted his head, "Why?"
Before he could speak however Chu Yi suddenly swiftly turned his head and looked up.
Just in time, the lights in the hall dimmed followed by the low examination from the startled players.
The minute the darkness fell, Chu Yi realized its weirdness.
With his enhanced vision, he should have had excellent night vision ability, but now he could only see thick and unsweepable darkness, like a monster slowly opening its bloody jaws to devour. The whispers in the dark seemed reduced a lot in an instant as if the sound had been passed through a barrier, distorted and strange.
The darkness in all directions was so thick that it blocked all sight.
The light suddenly descended again, directly hitting the red curtains on the second floor above.
Amidst the curious gazes, the curtains suddenly pulled away, revealing a flight of stairs extended high to reach a suspended platform. And on the top was a large altar. Beside the altar, there was an incomparably magnificent pipe organ, which stretched from the floor to the ceiling.
Standing under the huge pipe organ, the existence of human beings would seem extremely insignificant.
At this moment, someone was sitting in the center of the altar - where the pipe organ was played.
It looked like a man in a black suit.
A soul-shaking ethereal sound suddenly roared from the giant orchestral instrument that occupied the entire tower.
The pipe organ——It is said that this instrument can play the sound from the heavens. Especially in the closed environment of the tower, it made people tremble, and even subconsciously want to devote themselves to the gods.
Chu Yi held the wine glass in one hand and smiled, closing his eyes and listening lazily.
The ethereal music sounded melodious.
He narrowed his eyes slightly and tapped lightly on the wine glass.
The amazing thing is that the rhythm and music he taps were perfectly integrated as if Chu Yi was playing the organ with him, his taps indistinguishable from each other.
In the performance of the huge pipe organ, the ethereal and beautiful music seems to be accompanied by an entire orchestra, shocking and beautiful! To be able to arrange the music into such a beautiful and complex appearance could only be done by a madman.
The music gradually turned from ethereal to lingering and lingering, as if the waves were surging in the ears, gently slapped on the body, constantly circling, entangling people's ankles, dragging people into the deep sea little by little.
It didn't stop until the music was over.
There was a brief moment of silence as the music lingered like a whispering breath in the air.
Pop, pop, pop—
Chu Yi's applause echoed in the tower. Laughingly he praised, "Excellent performance."
The man sitting at the bottom of the organ stood up and turned around to look at Chu Yi.
——It was a young man with black hair and black eyes. With a very white complexion and a handsome and deep face, he resembled a mixed-race. Wearing a gold monocle, he exuded a classical and elegant temperament.
The young man lowered his eyes and glanced at him, and suddenly curved his lips into a smile. The words he spoke were very fluent, with an exotic accent that was not obvious at all.
"Thank you for your compliment."
He walked down the steps, the silver mirror chain hanging by the side of his waist, making a very soft sound that accompanied his footsteps. The air was filled with an inexplicable tension.
The smile on Chu Yi's face didn't falter however the curiosity in his heart had already raised to the highest level. Looking at the man now, no one could feel any abnormal fluctuations in the other party - if he didn't appear here now, then the other party would appear just like an ordinary person.
The red lips stained with wine were licked slowly and the eyes that Chu Yi used to look at the man held an extra touch of interest.
"Since I set foot on this bloody land, you are the first person to praise my music." The young man had stood above him and smiled, "It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Samuel, I'm....a part-time organ player."
"I'll be hosting the auction this year."
The man's grin turned strange.
The minute the players heard that name, they immediately exploded, "Is that Samuel! The suspected S-level player?"
"How could he appear here!"
"Quick–call the organization, if a player like him is hosting the auction, the items for this year must be extremely powerful."
Samuel's smile was polite and mannered, "In the death store, any and anything can be bought–as long as you're willing to pay the price. Here anything can be money. The theme for this year's auction is paradise and we hope to bring you guys to the highest peak."
The players clapped enthusiastically, "For now, this auction will be divided into three sections. The first segment is the game, the next is the masked dance and the third is the actual auction. However, the auction will only be able for the persons who find the master card during the first two sections."
Samuel gestured lightly and in everyone's hand, a red card suddenly appeared. On the card sat a classical beauty, her lips were as red as rogue, and she gave birth to a foxy beauty, that was inexplicably similar to the famous three concubines. Behind the beauty was a lonely church, white doves flying over the church were frozen in mid-air, and the floating clouds also stopped. The sound of the wind seemed to have died away, and all earth was silent. The card was hauntingly beautiful. The players were only given a moment to observe the card before it disappeared like floating dust, leaving only the players o stare blankly.
Chu Yi rubbed his wrist lightly, he didn't know if it was his illusion but the tattoo on his arm seemed to have heated up when the card fell into his palm. Samuel continued to speak, " The first segment is very simple. You only need to do one thing. "
"Capture the elf."
Samuel suddenly looked at Chu Yi, almost immediately his left eye started twitching with a bad feeling. He didn't give anyone any time to react, the golden monocle flashed, and gloved fingers raised to snap. In the blink of an eye, the players disappeared from the tower.
From behind a scarred and dark man suddenly appeared from the shadows and looked at Samuel's elegant figure, "Why do I have a feeling you're being bad again."
Samuel turned back to look at him, the Chan at his side rattling slightly, "Only returning the favor."
The man shook his head and disappeared again, the others were waiting for them. Samuel didn't stop him but he don't leave either. Instead, there was a ripple in the air and a blurry screen appeared.
Let's see how these players coped with his newest invention.
This was a forest. The towering trees with their luxuriant foliage tried their best to cover the sky. However, the rays of the sun did not give in, forcing their way through and scattering across the face of the youth lying on the ground below.
The sunlight, the shadows of the trees, the light breeze, the buzzing of insects, as well as the scent of the earth that wafted over, all felt inescapably realistic.
On the surface, Chu Yi quietly laid there. However, only knew how much he was suffering. His rapidly pounding heart, despite being separated by his slender back and thin shirt soaked in sweat, could still be transmitted to the ground, not to mention his unusually high body temperature. Fortunately, no one could see his face. If they could, it would have seen his face that was red like a fully-ripened autumn' apple.
All around him cracked eggshells lay on the floor and Chu Yi himself was covered in a sticky slime as if a small chick that had just been born. Chu Yi grinned slightly but in his heart ten thousand grass mud horses were already flying.
The smile Samuel had sent him before he disappeared appeared in his mind.
"Fuck–"
