Chapter 157 - The Isolated Island (1)

Seagulls flew by, the sea was calm, and the sound of the sea-bound wind rolled into the pier with a salty smell.

A dilapidated and run-down ship a few stories high was docked by the pier.

The dock was already crowded with people, crowded and noisy, everyone held items of baggage and carts in their hands, sweating profusely among the pile of people packed like sardines.

The smell of sweat and smelly feet, a man's yelling curse, and a woman's high-heeled shoes stamping against the wooden dock became the first thing to greet Chu Yi when he opened his eyes.

The scorching sun reflected off the rusty red paint of the ship at Harbour, when he squinted his eyes, Chu Yi could vaguely see the name of the ship, Narézon. 

The dazzling sunlight reflected the dusty and rickety structure, its huge shadows covered their heads from the sea.

He looked around, most of the people covered by the shadow were ordinary or even worn-out civilians, but some wealthy people were well-dressed and obviously of higher standing than the rest.

The crew placed the ladder frame that stretched from the ship down onto the pier and shouted down with a drunken drawl: "It's ready, start boarding"

He glanced to the side, at the others that appeared along the dock, amongst them there wasn't a familiar face, Tang Shun and the others that had followed him in had been separated. Regardless, the heavy camera equipment and heavy black duffle bags carried the people beside him quickly gave him an idea of their identities. They were a movie crew.

In the corner of his eyes, he could see an old man hobbling up to their side, the heavy wooden cane that he held slammed into the wooden pier with every dragging step. The old man opened his mouth and grinned when he got closer, the rotten and yellowing teeth inside his mouth was an offending sight to see, with a scraggly beard coated in spit and thin greasy hair, the man stopped before them and spat a glob of yellow spit at their feet.

"Yer' guys must be ta' people ta' ha com to visit this yere' island and shoot ta' movie. I'm a yer tour guide, call me Old Jin." The man spoke with a heavy accent, and spit flew out of his mouth for every word, splattering onto the faces of the unfortunate players closest to him. Even so, no one dared to step back. 

He lifted a dirty bottle and took a swig of the hot beer, "I hope yer ready, " He squinted at them through beady eyes, " Once ya' step foot on da' island, chances are–– you'll' never come back."

[You are a part of the D-list crew that has recently decided to make a horror movie called " The Hunt." The director wants this movie to be a hit and therefore decided that they must go above and beyond any horror show before and decided to shoot the movie on a real haunted and isolated island that has never been explored and all information on the island was found in dark and obscure legends. He bought the tickets to the ship that travels to the island only once a month and managed to get a tour guide to bring you to the island. Initially, you all thought that this island would be desolate and abandoned but when you arrived at the port, you were surprised to see hundreds of people boarding the ship, all of the different statures. How did these people find out about the ship and why are they all so eager to travel to the island? What kind of secret does this island that only exists in dark tales hold.

Someone abruptly tapped him on the shoulder, "Chu Yi won't you start the camera, the director said that we can Livestream our exploration in order to build some heat before the movie is released. It's good to have a little popularity before we reach the island, introduce yourself a bit, and publicize the movie."

Chu Yi looked back at the man, a member of the crew with some doubt, but still took the camera from his hands and aimed it at his face. The little red dot started blinking indicating that the Livestream had started. A flood of people heard the notification and poured in.

[Is this the crew that said they wanted to explore a real haunted island! ]

[Ah, this time it's a horror movie, I like horror movies the most! I want to see blood, I want to see dead people! ]

[There are very good-looking actors this time! Even if it's just a trash D-List movie, I'm still willing to watch it because of this face ]

The people there have pointed teeth like a group of piranhas and only marry the people from their island.]

[Upstairs, can you stop spreading rumors about people?]

[+1. I used to live on an island off the shore, and even though the island was a bit quiet we were just ordinary people ok.]

[ What era is this, why are you still discriminating against people?]

[If you don't have any knowledge, don't come to spread your ignorance here!]

Being scolded the person who sent the barrage seemed discouraged and disappeared. After scanning through and seeing nothing more of use, Chu Yi suddenly spoke for the first time, "The movie will be filmed and released in a month."

Chu Yi looked at the suddenly quiet barrage and thought that he had completed the task, so he nodded with satisfaction and asked, "Any questions? If there is no problem, I will close the live broadcast."

The audience who hadn't seen this operation before: "???"

What's going on with this brother, isn't an anchor supposed to interact and act cute with their audience, even if he didn't act cute at least say a few more words?! Why does he want to shut down the broadcast?

They haven't seen enough of this face!

Chu Yu didn't care about the emotion of the audience, his slender palms gradually approached the main screen camera. Under the high-definition lens, the intertwined green and blue veins under the transparent skin were infinitely magnified and the still shocked barrage began to take crazy screenshots on instinct.

In the next moment, the camera was thrown out, and after crossing a perfect curve, it fell perfectly into the hands of the person that was suspected to be the director.

The balding middle-aged man that appeared on the screen was a direct contrast to the wild beauty from before. Some audience weren't able to take this double crit and promptly left the live stream.

The director who had been despised: "..."

Chu Yi no longer cared about the issue of the Livestream, it seemed that the directory of this crew was still a bit more generous and he had booked the entire crew onto the channel for the rich.

The Narézon had two embarkation channels, one was a channel for civilians to the lower level, and the other was a channel for the wealthy guests to the upper level. The two boarding gates were guarded by crew members, and the white-uniformed captain stood at the entrance of the rich man with a warm smile on his face.

The men were dressed like gentlemen and the women wore radiant skirts. Everyone wore very eye-catching watches and jewelry, beautiful and dazzling even so, there are always a few people who stand out.

A crew member trots to the ground, came to the guests, bends over, and respectfully said: "Guests, please give me your luggage."

The dark-haired young man wearing sunglasses casually handed him the luggage and the ferry ticket, "Be careful."

The black-haired man wore a casual outfit, with bright black hair draped over his shoulders. Sunglasses covered his eyebrows and eyes, but the line of the chin was beautiful and sharp. His lips were as gorgeous as a rose, and they were a little frivolous as they pursed into a smile. As a little fresh meat, naturally, Chu Yi was dressed better than the normal crew and therefore his clothes didn't seem out of place.

The crew members who took their luggage handed over an ID card, " This is your access card for the facilities onboard the ship. Don't lose it, it's what the crew will use to identify you later. " The crew shook his head, "If you have the wrong identity...."

He squinted continue to speak, but bowed his head and walked away. 

When Chu Yi walked past the captain, and looked up into the ship, under the scorching sun he seemed to see a dark shadow flash on the dock but when he blinked again, it was gone.

When the last passenger boarded the ship, there was a loud horn that resounded through the entire dock, the ship shook briefly as the anchor was pulled up and engines started.

The Narézon set sail.

The coastline gradually moved away, passing by a fleet of freighters. The waters near the port were turbid and grey, but gradually, the sea turned into a deep blue.

The seagulls hovered over the cruise ship, the wind roared, and Chu Yi's clothes were blown by the salty wind as he stood at the edge of the deck, watching the pier slowly get smaller before slowly turning his head.

The ship would sail for two days and in those two days, who knows what dangers at sea they'd encounter. The tour guide did not follow them to the rich channel but went by himself to the civilian channel.

A crew member came over and handed them each a key and an invitation letter.

"This is your room key, due to having great more passengers than we anticipated, a few of the rooms will be double rooms, if you have any problems with your roommate you can go to the captain and work it out."

They all nodded and seeing that they weren't dissatisfied, the crew member smiled and pointed to the invitation, "That is an invitation to the banquet being held tonight at 7 pm." 

One of the crew members casually asked, "What's the menu for tonight."

The crew member paused and looked deeply at them, "The menu is our local specialty, specially grown only in these seas, "
