Chapter 173 - The Isolated Island (17)

The surrounding temperature seemed to have dropped to a freezing point and a sense of coldness came from behind the hole in the wall. The dense rustling sound crawled into their ears and gatherer into the hearts, as the black and red insects sprinted to their feet in an overwhelming tide.

The worms under the high-definition camera were ugly and ferocious. You could see the squirming segments under the disgusting hair. In the dark environment, they appeared extraordinarily strange and infiltrating, with the illusion that in the next second, the worm would rush up, crawl into their body and gnaw away at their internal organs.

Several people stepped back, eyes heavy with fear, the worms were almost upon them, gathering around their feet, the players frantically stepped back, kicking and stomping at the worms in an attempt to rid them. Ji Hongcai's body had already been submerged in the bloody tide, his life and death unknown.

Some tried to throw out a fire to scare them, but this low-level trick did not work and at that point, they had all climbed up onto the pillars and platforms. Nevertheless, this temporary retrieve would not last long considering that the worms were slowly crawling up the walls towards them!

It's not that no one thought of escaping, but everyone had qualms and unless the situation was truly dire, no one wanted to be the first to move, regardless, the situation was rapidly deteriorating.

[Ah!Ah!Ah!]

[Too disgusting, too disgusting, someone take my eyes out and burn them!!]

[Will no one really consider calling the authorities. I feel like this island is a hazard?!?!]

[Wuwuwu, YiYi, don't continue acting in this movie, even If you are a vase, I will still like you. The director's brain must be filled with water, why did he want to come to such a dangerous island.]

[There's no time to scold the director, those things are crawling up!!]

Chen Zi held onto the pillar, his face even paler than before, he gritted his teeth and looked around, grasping his pocket tightly. When he was down there he had been attracted to a small statue lying against a skeleton. Who knew that as soon he picked it up, he attracted the attention of these disgusting things. The best course of action now was to throw the statue down and pacify the worms below but he was unwilling!

After that night, Liang Yuanhao had turned strange, he had started to eat with the owners of the house and all he did was eat, eyes glassy, even when his stomach was engorged and blood dripped from his nose, he still continued to eat. Now that he had lost his backer, he could only find a new one, but he had enough experience to know that without usefulness, he would be quickly thrown away, and maybe he would become like Ji Hongcai or Li Yuanhao!

There was a gust of cold wind and the dim lanterns hung on the walls went out.

The ancestral Hall was also plunged into darkness.

The darkness only heightened their senses, the around of crawling was getting nearer and nearer, and only two big red lanterns were still lit up on the eaves above the platform for paying respects.

Like some kind of monster, it grinned and opened its red eyes, squatting with greed and hunger to guard its prey.

His mind moved fast, Chu Yi who has used the ancestral tablets as a step to get up onto the ceiling and was now hanging from a small hook, suddenly paused, remembering the words of Granny Li, 'pay respects before you leave.'

Chu Yi who hung precariously from the ceiling, suddenly called out coldly, "Go and pay respects."

In the silent hall filled with the sound of rough breathing, his voice was particularly clear. In the darkness, Chu Yi seemed to feel hundreds of sinister and gloomy eyes suddenly turn towards him.

He flung his head back and estimated the distance between him and the platform, a bit too far.

The players quickly picked up on the Granny Li's hint, but even so, there was no other movement in the hall besides the tide of worms.

"Who is the first?" Someone asked.

He asked who is first, but no one answered. This kind of thing was too uncertain and dangerous. If paying respects was in fact a condition for triggering death, then wouldn't the first person have died for nothing. Plus, it's uncertain whether they would finish paying respects first or the worms would swallow their bodies.

"What if the old woman is cheating us?"

Chen Zi spoke preemptively, "So what if she is, can we stay here?"

Chu Yi's hand strained and he had no time to pay attention to the bunch, his eyes locked onto Ruan Quixi, he was closed to him. The players started arguing but only one person was silent from beginning to end. Malicious, greedy pupils never strayed from Chu Yi's figure, a strange emotion suddenly erupted in Arescio's eyes.

"Well, what's the use of hesitating here? Someone has to go!–"

The man's voice choked, the crawling sound of the swarms of insects was very close between his words, and the insects that still seemed far away jumped up abruptly.

For whatever reason, the swarms of insects rustled more and more densely, revealing a strong aggressiveness. The insects gathered together like the most powerful army, and even beasts a hundred times larger than they would flee in a hurry, not to mention fragile humans. The red and black worms moved like a strong wave, Chu Yi who was still hanging precariously, listened to the rustling of the marching insects, his eyes narrowed.

The rustling of the insects suddenly stopped. Chen Zi looked at the rock wall beside him and saw the dense black and red insects like a plush carpet completely covering the wall of the ancestral Hall, their bodies covered the murals and completely drowned out the painting of the villagers. He had a feeling that these insects were looking at him!

Shit!–

He immediately reached into his pocket and wanted to quickly throw the statue but qt the same, the insects suddenly surged towards him–

Boom!

A person descended from the sky and smashed into the ground heavily. There was a short scream,

"No--!!"

The man fell straight onto the floor of the ancestral hall, screaming in pain, his leg seemed to be broken. The severe pain turned his face pale and then he saw the insect works densely packed around him, slowly crawling onto his body. His eye rolled and he was scared and fainted. At the same time, a short black statue rolled out of his clenched fingers.

Closer and closer, the worms moved to their positions, all methods of escape were blocked!

There was the sound of rustling by the side of his ears, the insects slowly crawled to his position.

The smell of incense and the faint smell of blood burned in the air. Chu Yi glanced at the man once more and seemed to have made a decision.

Chu Yi gritted his teeth and jumped down.

The light was dim in the dark ancestral hall, the paintings on the wall turned their eyes to the weightless figure. The man jumped off the wall, his figure was plated with a thin layer of red, and with a slightly suffocated weightlessness quickly fell to the ground.

The air whistled by his ears, bumping into the firm and warm embrace, Chu Yi hugged his neck tightly, feeling Ruan Quixi's arm draped under his buttocks and held it up, holding him very firmly.

Chu Yi opened his eyes, the collision just now pulled their face very close, Ruan Quixi's features were close at hand, his cold and sharp eyebrows were raised slightly, reflecting his figure.

" Second time."

The air was quiet for a moment.

There was a faint wind blowing in the hall, the sound of creepy rustling pulled him out of his reverie. Breaking free from his grasp, he quickly propelled himself a few steps forward and finally stood on the platform, looked up at the painting of the humanoid, and bowed slightly.

All eyed turned to him.

On the surface, there was no reaction but Chu Yi intuitively felt the changes.

Beside the platform, some words that weren't able to react, turned gray and stiff, curled and completely dead, like broken pieces of incense ash. The rest of the worms receded like a tide, revealing a straight path from the platform to the door.

Without looking at anyone, Chu Yi slowly walked forward, he kicked something under his foot, and a short blue statue rolled. He raised his brow, picked it up, and with a heavy creak, the door was pushed open.

The bright sunlight streamed in, briefly illuminating the cold interiors, before slamming shut leaving the others to fight again.

Chu Yi squinted his eyes and a familiar ugly old man squatted at the entrance of the ancestral hall with his back hunched. The closed he got, the more distinct the sound of chewing became. The old man didn't move even after he heard his footsteps and Chu Yi couldn't help but reach out–

Chu Yi was stunned as soon as his hand fell on the old man's body.

Under his palm, it didn't feel like a human being's soft skin with warmth and elasticity, but a scaly and cold with a wet feeling as if coated with mucus - Chu Yi retracted his hand and looked at Ruan Quixi with dark eyes.

The ugly old man also noticed Chu Yi's touch, and he finally stopped biting and slowly turned his head to look at the two.

Chu Yi squinted his eyes, and with the help of the weak light outside the window, he finally vaguely saw what the old man was doing.

His face was pale, his eyes were stiff, and his lips and chin were covered with blood, and at first glance, his teeth inside his wide-open mouth were filled with jagged and rough edges.

With the blood still dripping down the corners of his wrinkled mouth wetting the front of his chest in a large swath of red.

It was only at this moment that Chu Yi could see where the crunching noises and the fresh blood on the old man's mouth came from.

——The old man, he was actually biting his fingers!

Chu Yi could already see something white and raw from the bloody mangled flesh left of the old man's palm, and it could be seen that the wound was deep enough to see the bone!

However, even with such an injury, the old man didn't seem to register pain, and he was still chewing the contents of his mouth with a hair-raising squelch.

What could be eaten into his mouth and bleed... could only be the flesh and blood of the fingers bitten off by himself.

They stood together in a stalemate, empty eyes that seemed to be just decorative glass beads staring coldly at him.

The old man grinned, revealing teeth that were covered in blood and shredded meat stuck between his teeth, smiled strangely at Chu Yi.

He just raised his head to look at him, before continuing to lower his head intently, biting his own fingers, and muttering indistinctly in his flesh-filled mouth: "Hungry, curse, eat, eat, boy..."

His belly extended grotesquely, bulging against his chest, with black veins slowly pulling under the skin as his body was filled with flesh.

Chu Yi suddenly noticed that there was a faint wind blowing behind him as if something was moving extremely quickly towards him!

He turned around abruptly, the palm of his hand slamming out like thunder and lightning, and he buckled directly behind him.

Chu Yi's dry palm caught a wet, slippery and cold thing, cold and slimy, reminiscent of the old man's skin. He brought it closer, a small red fruit was held in his hands.

Chu Yi raised his head to the forest, a familiar silver shadow flashed past, he looked down at the fruit again, there was only one place it could have come from.
