The bloody foam churned and something gradually something emerged into his line of sight. The camera continued to film everything faithfully, sending it to the monitor on the other side; The instant the director identified the face, his pupils abruptly shrank into thin needles and a look of horror rained onto his ghastly pale face.
"Director?" the assistant's worried voice came from the side.
His eyes however, never moved away from the monitor, as if he had been locked in place by fear.
Chu Yi slowly lowered his head. The turbid sea water could not reflect his face. In the depths of the murky sea, there was a flash of scarlet, a bloody face filled with resentment - this face looked to be peeled off, or rather had been boiled off and the only things left of its facial features were deep holes. The pits where the flesh and blood had been scalded, and the uneven flesh and blood crawling with long strips, like blood vessels or bloody red earthworms.
Countless dark, resentment filled faces surrounded the bloody man, each looking up from the water that was rapidly pulling the boat into a deep tide. The fleshless bloody man stretched out a hand to Chu Yi in the depths of the water, as if it wanted to pull him into hell.
Chu Yi did not evade, his pupils dilated slightly, his mouth widened, revealing a happy, contented smile, "I've been waiting~'
Every time, he saw that expression on Chu Yi's face, strange and exhilarating, filled with excitement and the need to challenge death.
He felt the heart in his chest beating violently, he was crazy for the young man who was screaming for danger all over his body, before and now, it would always be the same.
A hand reached out and grabbed his chin, The voice disappeared from the lips where they met.
Ruan Quixi hugged Chu Yi with one hand, pressed the back of Chu Yi's head with the other, leaned over slightly, covered the soft and red lips with a force that could not be rejected, and hungrily entangled his tongue and lips.
Chu Yi's eyes were slightly opened, unable to react, all his senses were concentrated on his lips, his lips and teeth were occupied by Ruan, and he was kissed by him forcefully and carelessly, as if he was going to be slowly swallowed into his belly. The boat rocked against the waves and the sound of scratching under the boat became heavier, as if the creatures had been angered by their blatant disregard.
All perception of the outside world disappeared, only the heated touch on the lips was clearly transmitted to his mind.
Everything between heaven and earth is slowly blurring, only oneself and the evil spirit are real.
The light and shadow of dusk swayed, and the gloomy red eyes half-closed, as if covered with a layer of fog.
The boat jerked and Chu Yi's mind was finally brought back to earth.
He pulled his lips back, glared with misty, red eyes but didn't have time to settle the scores.
He spotted the roughshod wooden oar sitting under the hull of the boat. The waves only began to get taller and taller and the narrow rocked precariously seemingly on the verge of overturning. He looked back over the sea and locked eyes once again with the creatures, he didn't know if it was his illusion, but he seemed to identify a faint despair in those bottomless, terrifying eyes.
He didn't fail to notice, the heated gaze boring into his side but pretended to be blinded. He pull the heavy oars out and threw the other pair into the other man's hand. A knotless hand caught it and the narrow eyes raised, "Row."
The moment the oar entered the sea, it was as if his arm was being weighed down by ten thousand pounds! The oar bent under the crashing waves, he couldn't tell how far out they had gone at this point, but the shore was no longer visible, only the encompassing fog blocked their way. The lean arm muscles tensed, eyes narrowed and with a heavy pulling force, he lifted the thick wooden pole out of the water!
The second, the oar left the water, Chu Yi's eyes raised, grabbing onto the oar tightly were multiple ripped off fingers, the mutilated flesh was black and red and the glaring white bones were visible from underneath, the finger's hadn't had time to release and they still grabbed tightly onto the wood with lasting hatred and resentment. Even the part of the oar that had entered into the sea seemed to have been shortened!
Chu Yi's eyes widened, and with heavy strength, he slapped the wooden pole to the surface of the water with all his might, the force of the fingers falling to the surface was almost like being slammed into the ground, the fingers on the pole released. Ruan lifted the pole and slammed it into the water, propped up the wooden pole with a vigorous stroke, just barely using the remaining waves to let the boat avoid capsizing, the sea's surface faintly churned but regardless, the pole could not steer the boat, they were still being uncontrollably pulled away!
There was bloody irritation next to the boat, and the ominous vibration was still there.
In other words, not only were they being steered away but they were also at the risk of falling into the sea. Unless they could figure a way out, they were still in the danger of being swallowed by the inescapable depths of the sea!
Chu Yi threw down the oar and reached over into the sea, a sharp pain came from the palm of his hand, the sea was still hot.
Chu Yi curled his lips into a smile, but the smile was cold, not reaching the bottom of his eyes.
Ruan threw down the oar as well and leaned back lazily onto the narrow hull, there was no trace of fear in his eyes and there was even a hint of playfulness in his movements, "What do you say we do now?"
Chu Yi looked at him faintly, "Are you having fun?"
The grin on his lips widened, non-committal.
A breeze blew, and the hair on Chu Yi's cheeks was blown away. At this moment, one end of the broken rope was still tied to the stern of the boat, and the other end was being dragged in the water. Mouth tight, Chu Yi pulled the rope back. The rope that was pulled back was short, and the ripples on the water surface seemed to be dragging a big fish. When he pulled it out to look at, the frayed end still had traces of being gnawed at; the culprit of their current plight wasn't hard to identify.
It wasn't feasible to swim nor was it an option to stay on the boat, but there was no other way out!
Death seemed to be the end, however Chu Yi didn't believe the system would give an unsolvable problem, there must be something on the boat that could help!
Something that could attract the bloody corpses away--
The sea waves splashed and Chu Yi could intuitively sense the boat sinking, the creaking and scratching noise of fingers digging into wood only got closer and closer. He used the end of the oar to to knock down a few bloody heads that were jumping around at the hull one by one. One of the mangled heads even jumped up and grabbed the oar, leaving deep tooth marks on it. When it was smashed through, it was like beating a rotten watermelon, soft and filled with mushy pulp.
He looked around, only the endless sea in sight and the smell of blood and seawater, at this moment, something in his mind flashed and he slowly looked up at the only other person in the boat.
On the other end, the crew members gathered around the monitor with absolute horror on their faces.
The director was trembling all over, his hair and clothes were all wet with cold sweat and he couldn't tell whether it was from the fear or despair. His face was pale, and he held the camera tightly, his mood was a little broken, and he muttered something brokenly.
"I shouldn't have come here."
"It almost leaked, the boat almost leaked."
The assistant pulled his hair anxiously, there was no way to contact the two, their crew wasn't rich in the first place and only barely relied on the director scraping up a few dollars to barely put together a crew. If something were to happen to their lead actor, then they could just pack up their bags and leave the entertainment industry all together. He had heard of the directors infamous bad luck but it was only now when he was in direct contact with it, did he fully understand his infamy.
Zhao Yuan scratched his cheeks and spoke up hesitantly, "Should we... call up the villagers?"
It was already dusk, they had become acquainted with the villagers routine over the past few days and knew by now, that the villagers retreated at night time, but what else could they do, they couldn't just let the two die!
On person said worriedly, "Should we just call the authorities."
"What authorities?! Haven't you already noticed, there is no signal on this island-"
"Then what the hell do you propose we do?"
"Why are you asking me? If I had known it would be like this, I would never have come to this godforsaken island."
The crew was in panic and chaos.
The sea's surface was not calm, the black water reflected the lead-gray sky, the night was slowly arriving, and the wind carrying the sting of sea water, they had delayed for long enough, they needed to make a decision quick. The director trembled, looked at the monitor, the situation over there was rapidly deteriorating!
"Director, what should we do?"
Now they are racing against the clock and can't waste any time.
Finally the decision was turned over to him, as if making a painful decision the director looked up at the sky and looked towards the silent and creepy village fearfully, "Go."
"Go wake up the villagers."
