Chapter 45 - I Got No One

As Wan Yi Jun promised earlier on the phone call, he came to pick up the Ming Yue at a spot they have decided together. Even though he had suggested that he would come to her house, Ming Yue refused due to the risk factor. Since it was a huge risk that the Yojiro and Kousuke would run into the police officer whom they were trying to avoid the most. 

So they met somewhere away from the downtown and went to Wisteria gardens together. 

As soon as Ming Yue stepped inside the mansion compound, she couldn't help but grit her teeth in dismay. Two days ago, when she left Wisteria gardens promising herself that she would burn this place into ashes, but she never expected that she will come back here again, disguised as a maid. 

However, Wan Yi Jun on the other hand appeared more bright and lively as if he was really happy to invite her over. 

Though he was only offering her a job in wisteria gardens because he felt bad for the girl. However, for some reason, he felt that he was the one who was overjoyed to have someone else to break the eerie loneliness of the mansion, 

Even though he could no longer turn back the time and bring the happiness that lingered in the mansion and make it into a home, he wanted to make this a home for a poor girl who got no one.

"So, what I'm supposed to do here?" 

"Practically nothing."

"Huh?"

"There is nothing for you to do here. I just need someone to be at home."

"Have you ever thought about getting a dog?"

"Even I get a dog, still I need someone to look after my dog."

"But it doesn't seem like that to me. Wherever I look, all I see is work."

"This, I will ask someone to get to done."

"Are you going to ask the same people who repaired your house earlier?"

"Do you know anyone else?"

"I'm new to this place, master."

"Me too. So let's stick to the previous agency itself to complete the repair. Since you are here, I'm sure that they will do a great job."

"Are you really going to make me a worker here?"

"What should I do to make you believe my words? Should I write an official legally bound job contract?"

"Do you have that much time to spare?"

"Hahaha, I'm a police officer, you can sue me if you want."

"It's fine, I believe you, master."

"As I have said earlier, you don't have much to do here. Select a room of your liking and stay there."

"No master, I...I can't stay with you...I mean I can't stay here."

"Are you worried that I might-"

"No..no..Its not like that. I have already paid this month's rent. It will be a hassle if I ask it back. Also, it will be difficult for grandma to search for a new tenant." 

"This place is far away from the city centre without proper transport. It will only cost you extra expense for travelling."

"But master,"

"I will compensate your mortgage and rent."

"I need some other things to think about-"

"Don't worry, I won't be home regularly."

"I will be staying here all alone, then?"

"I mean...I will come home, but it may be during odd hours due to my work ."

"Hmm. So you just need me to guard this house?"

"Well, you can do whatever you want, gardening, or there is a library upstairs you can read if you like."

"I can barely read."

"Oh then you can learn on your own, maybe you can continue your studies?"

"Are you kidding me, master? I can't even afford food. How I am going to afford school fees?"

"I can help you with it."

"Master, do you want to sleep with me?"

"What?"

"You sound like you have some ulterior motives, like a sugar daddy."

"I don't have any ulterior and I don't even want to be anyone's daddy."

"You don't want to be a father?"

"Father and sugar daddy are two different things, miss Ming. But still, I'm not interested in becoming one."

"Didn't you tell me that you are the only son of your parents? if you don't have an heir your parent's lineage will end with you."

"Let it end,"

"You really not interested in things like marriage or children or family,"

"Are you interested in it?"

"No."

"Why?"

"And you guys didn't report it?" Han Ze Min's inquired again,

"Shu Li Li didn't want to make it into a police case, but we talked to the building security and replaced him."

"After that incident, have you ever seen that man again?"

As soon as Feng Tian Wei concluded, Wan Yi Jun turned his gaze towards his team members,

"You said that there were people who stole Shu Li Li's chances. Do you know who are they?" Han Ze Min asked as if he got reminded about the people who might have any kind of hatred towards the victim, all of a sudden.

"I'm not sure about it. But there is a senior in Li Li's modelling agency named Cai Hong, she used to bully Shu Li Li a lot and even tried to sabotage her name because of her relationship with Ken Wong." 

"Isn't he Shu Li Li's boyfriend?" Fei Yan asked as a matter of fact. He was the one who took the witness statement of the man who got injured by the culprit while trying to save Shu Li Li. "The star photographer?"

"Ken Wong? No. He is not Li Li's boyfriend." She paused for a moment and continued in a low voice, "They are more like friends with benefits."

Feng Tian Wei's declaration hit the room like a lightning. None of them expected such a turn of events. It was nearly impossible to believe the man who introduced himself as Shu Li Li's boyfriend.

However, while everyone was churning their brains because of the new information, Wan Yi Jun was actually worried about something else. 

He clearly heard the name of Shu Li Li's bully senior. It was a person with whom he was acquainted- Cai Hong, Zhi Lan's best friend.

Han Ze Min who noticed his captain's worried face understood that something amiss, tried to ask the question that was bubbling in everyone's mind. 

"I don't want to sound like an old geezer, but miss Feng, what you have said about Shu Li Li's innocent character and these facts are somewhat contradictory to each other?"

Though he sounded plain, for some reason it provoked Feng Tian Wei and she immediately retorted back.

"We just asked a doubt, nothing else, miss Feng." Han Ze Min tried to reason, but Feng Tian Wei was not ready to quit as she continued to argue back.

"I'm really sorry, Miss Feng. We didn't mean to hurt you by any means. It is just...happened like that, we are extremely sorry."

"Hmm. sorry, officer. I was just being overly sensitive because of Shu Li Li's death. All these news reporters and all those comments on the internet. It just breaks my heart. These people, don't they have a heart? At least can't they think about her parents? Who would like to hear about their beloved daughter?"

"We can understand your concern, Miss Feng. All we can assure is that we will find out the truth and bring the culprit of Shu Li Li's murder."

"Hmm, thank you, sir."

"Shu Li Li's belongings are still in your apartment, right?"

"Yes. I need to hand over her belongings to her parents, too."

"If it is possible, can we go through her stuff for investigation purposes?"

"I don't have a problem with that, but her parents, shouldn't we ask them at least once?

"We have already got their permission. It won't be a problem and we will only search your house only when you are present at the site."

"Captain, me and Shen Junru will go with officer Han and submit the report."

"Yes, captain. I will also go with them. You go home."

"I don-"

"I will take care of this murder case as we decided earlier, either you go and check on that drug peddler or just go home."

"Hmm, okay."

"Bing Wen, let's try to track Yan Zhi Hao's location."

"Captain, why don't you home, I will take care of it."

"It's office hours, why do I have to go home?"

"No, it is not like that, captain. You have been staying in the office for the last few days, and you look sleep-deprived, and all of us are worried that you might fall sick because of this case."

"Officer Fei, I'm completely alright. I have-"

"Excuse me, yes Wan Yi Jun is here. Oh yes, miss Ming. Where are you, right now? Yeah, I'm free today. Do you remember the way to my home? Should I pick you up? Yeah, I will be there in thirty minutes, yep sure. Just wait in front of your grandma's restuarant. Somewhere else? Yeah, no I don't have a problem."

"I need to go home. It's an emergency."

"Are you expecting any visitor, captain?"
