Chapter 54 - When Did She Became Your Girlfriend?

It was the first time in the eagle team's service history they had a suspect who threw shades at their chief officer's personal lives and created an awkward scene in front of everyone.

Firstly, Cai Hong dragged Han Ze Min's dead girlfriend into their conversation and then blamed Wan Yi Jun as a man who never loved anyone.

Everyone in the room, including Han Ze Min, was aware that Zhi Lan liked their captain for a long time. They practically spent their university life together, and even after becoming working professionals, they continued to carry on whatever relationship they had all these years.

However, Cai Hong's scornful words struck them like a bolt of unexpected lightning.

Does this woman even have any common sense? Even if you hate someone to your heart's core, it is not necessary to comment on their personal lives, that too in their workplace.

But more than anything else, they were shocked to hear that Wan Yi Jun never loved anyone.

Does that mean he never reciprocated Zhi Lan's feelings all these years? Not even for once? 

As the realization hit hard in their head, the eagle team members looked sympathetically at Zhi Lan, who sat there with downcast eyes.

It was evident that she was hurt by Wan Yi Jun's words. 

No matter how hard they thought about it, no one could come up with any possible reason for Wan Yi Jun to reject a woman like her.

Anyone who sees them together would easily mistake them as a couple made for each other.

In the beginning, they had doubts that Wan Yi Jun refused to be in a relationship with Zhi Lan due to their social status and her father being his superior officer. However, when they heard that their captain Wan who lived like a normal middle classman, actually belonged to a corporate family, there wasn't any place for excuses. As soon as they heard that general Zhi had been rooting for one of his best junior officers for obvious reasons, all of them believed that they would quickly hear a piece of good news.

But no one expected such a turn of events.

"You can leave." Wan Yi Jun said after a long silence,

"What?" Everyone stared at the man who sat there without even a  slight change in his proud face. 

"You can leave and return with your lawyer."

As soon as Han Ze Min's words heard his cousin's haughty words, he couldn't help but let out a sneer. For a moment, he did doubt Wan Yi Jun had turned soft ever since he joined the police department. But in a glimpse, he realized that no change had happened to the cold and aloof boy he was familiar with.

Even from his childhood, Wan Yi Jun rarely got angry at women, but he had his own ways to get back to them.

"As Han Ze Min said earlier, we don't have enough evidence to tag you as the perpetrator, but it is enough to get you a place in the suspect list. So talk to your lawyer and take enough precautions to clear your charges. Otherwise, I can't guarantee what happens to your career and your uncle's company."

Wan Yi Jun repeated and crossed his arms over his chest as if he was no longer interested to carry on the interrogation. 

"Please cooperate with the investigation in the future." He casually said while staring at Cai Hong's panicky face.

"Also, next time, let's meet as a police officer and a suspect, not as childhood friends."

For a moment, she really thought that Wan Yi Jun would help her, but in reality not only did he refuse to help her but even asked her to forget whatever relationship they had in their childhood.

Just as everyone stared at Wan Yi Jun in disbelief, the man stood up from his seat, urging the others to leave as well.

"Yating, send an official 'summoning notice' to miss Cai as soon as possible," He ordered to his second in command, who stood there silent.

Since they got nothing else to say, Zhi Lan nudged her friend to leave the office without wasting any more time.

"Thank you."

"Officer Fei and Bing Wen, check miss Cai's alibi on new year eve and check all of her contact numbers."

"

"Where did you get these dumplings? It's so tasty." 

"Captain Wan brought it from home. Apparently, he got a new cook. It's a shame that we won't be able to eat it regularly."

"Oh, isn't it the same person whom Chief Wu sent for captain's help? Whoa, it seems like their relationship is even thicker than blood."

when Junru, who was equally surprised to see Wan Yi Jun at the office, tilted his head and glanced at Bing Wen in confusion.

All of them were informed that their Captain went home after getting a phone call that seemed something personal reasons, if that's true, then who is this man standing in their office? 

Well, Wan Yi Jun's demeanour looked much better than before as if he took some effort to groom himself into a 'human' 

"Did he go for a date?" That was the first doubt that popped up in Shen Junru's mind. There were no other possibilities for them to associate with a workaholic like Wan Yi Jun, leaving the office in the middle of the work.

Bing Wen who witnessed their captain's flustered emotions during the phone call, even did some guessing, a level higher than the rest of them 

Beyond the Sewers

I've read a dark story that killed my excitement. All the sense of accomplishment and exhilaration of beating a superior player has blown away in a glimpse. It's like when you're in a good mood after drinking to forget every worry, and then you're told that the deadline is tomorrow, and now, you have to sober up.

One block further on, we hit a dead end. 

So that means Fifteen blocks from the base was the west end.

However, since I didn't encounter any enemy or have any chance to raise my level. My strength and magic power remained full due to my natural recovery, so I decided to continue my search.

'So which way should we head, north or south?'

Since Ratmens were in the east and south, we assume that the west and north are relatively safe. We should go to the north to get prepared for any unforeseen circumstances.

What was that? I think I heard something...? The direction the voice came from was south. 

"Hmm, should I go there?"

I'm lost, but, let's go. There might be something new to discover. If it looks terrible, we can turn back.

Uh, is it around here? I have my servants who stood behind pillars, activating [stealth] and [stealthy feet]. Now, I wonder what's going on.
