*Universe 10, Sacred World of the Kais*
Two persons could be seen walking and talking to each other. One was a pale yellow-skinned old man while the other was a green-skinned young man.
Their conversation seemed to be kinda tense as the old man was reprimanding him.
"You have to further develop your knowledge of mortals…" The old man said severely and shot a glance backward.
"..." The young man kept his silence with a struggling expression clearly unhappy about it but still mustered a small... "Yes…"
And it was then that...
Swing…
"...?" Both the old and young man's attention to the sky where space was distorted as the silhouette of a bunch of people formed out.
In the sky, the people accompanying him were Whis, Beerus, and surprisingly Edam… as they descended from the sky, the latter was curiously glancing around kinda intrigued with this realm. The air was extremely pure, vigorous, and rejuvenating, making Marijoie's air smell like a stinking fart.
And, yet, apart from some fishes in a few streams and rivers, Edam couldn't detect any other living beings even beyond a hundred kilometers around his position. For other people, this place would be a sacred divine land.
"Wow, that's one cool place…" Edam said and admired the world.
But, for the newcomers, they couldn't give a care about it. Whis and Beerus were already way too accustomed to these sights.
In fact, he noticed that since his arrival on this Side, his perception and understanding of the world surrounding him had been overthrown and raised to another level, a world apart from his pitiful and laughable knowledge he once had, just like a frog at the bottom of a well discovering the vast blue sky.
Being unfamiliar with this place, Edam simply followed behind Whis and Beerus.
"Oh… Lord Beerus is visiting us…" Gowasu was at first surprised by them before greeting them politely.
"It's been a long time…" Whis returned the greeting and Beerus slightly waved his hand. "Hello…"
"This is my disciple, Zamasu…" Gowasu glanced at Zamasu and presented him.
And then,
Swoosh…! Goku, who was at a distance away, suddenly dashed like a tornado and stopped an inch in front of Zamasu.
"So, you are the Kaioshin who is a fighting genius…?" Goku asked with his usual cheerfulness that could potentially be overly optimistic to the point of being annoying.
"Goku, present yourself correctly…" Whis then said with a scolding tone.
"Oh- uh, yes, umm…" Goku moved like a robot and said. "H- Hello, My name is Son Goku!"
The way he presented himself reminded Edam and co of a chief presenting his dishes.
"I thank you for receiving me today and wished you to have a beautiful day in your garden…"
"Pff!" Whis and Beerus nearly burst into laughter while Edam slightly laughed out with a twitching face being kinda embarrassed in Goku's stead.
Zamasu's expression though was rather uncomfortable as he looked at Goku but kept his silence.
"He comes from Universe 7, to be more precise the planet 4032-Green-877 also called planet earth…" Whis said and gave the exact coordination.
"Yes! A highly gastronomical planet!" Beerus exclaimed.
Gowasu's gaze then went on toward Edam as the old man greeted him. "Hello, and you are?"
"...? Oh, hello, I'm Edam, nice to meet you, old man…" Edam greeted normally without overdoing it as Goku did.
"Hel-..." Gowasu was about to greet him back when his words got somehow stuck in his throat. His eyes examined Edam up and down with clear uncertainty and doubts.
"...? What is it?" Edam noticed his strange expression of course.
"Ah, no, sorry young man…" Gowasu shook his head and said. "You just-… I thought... never mind, welcome…"
"...?"
Edam eventually ignored him and watched Goku and Zamasu interacting.
"Don't touch me mortal…!" Zamasu raised his hand into a cutting movement as Gowasu intervened and caught his hand.
"Stop it, Zamasu!" However, the latter seemingly didn't hear anything at first.
"...!"
"Zamasu!" It was only at the second call that he came back to himself and calmed down.
Though Edam could understand this Zamasu to some extent since he himself wouldn't have appreciated a stranger touching him like that and would have surely punched him! Only Hancock was allowed and no one else!
Although the situation was different for him since his problem was because Goku was a mortal…
"Please forgive his outburst lord Beerus… but, tell me what have you come here for?"
"Well-..."
"Ah, finally, I couldn't wait anymore…! Hey, could we fight a bit?" Goku suddenly interrupted Whis and went toward Zamasu and begged him.
"Please, I came from far away you know…" Goku joined his hands and said.
"You mortal…!" Zamasu gritted his teeth in anger and was gonna burst out if it wasn't for Beerus who fiercely pinched Goku's ear before casually throwing him in the air.
"We will see that later…"
"Umm… Whis…" Beerus signaled Whis to speak as the latter began to recount the current problem on everyone's mind and to pierce the secret of this Black Goku guy.
But, unknown to the Supreme Kai and his disciple, today's visit was a bit more than just storytelling of course. Actually, after reflecting for a while, Whis started to suspect this Supreme Kai's disciple, saying that their Ki's were strangely similar.
Time-traveling being a very serious incident even for gods like Beerus and Whis, they decided to personally act and travel to the 10th Universe.
As for Edam, since he didn't have anything else to do, had a few questions to ask, and an opportunity to broaden his horizons, he couldn't refuse when Goku cheerfully asked him to come along.
And that's the reason for his presence here…
But, whatever… After that, they were led toward a sort of dojo-temple-like building to wait for the two to come back with a small box sealed with a small rope.
The moment they were revealed, a strange bird jumped out of Edam to stand on his shoulder and stare intensely at them.
"So these are the Time Rings…"
"Yes, they are but, young master, as I said-…"
"Yeah yeah, I know…" Edam carefully looked at them before losing his interest.
He was already informed by Yamote that these rings were usable only by the Supreme Kai and that although Yamote did have a few tricks up his sleeves to fȯrċɨbŀƴ activate them, the gods by his side might not agree.
On Gowasu's side though, he was a bit shocked to see this bird suddenly jumping out of this young man, especially this type of bird.
"The Divine Bird of Time?" Gowasu asked in surprise. "You even brought it from the Nest of Time?" He first turned toward Beerus and Whis before looking at Edam again.
Just who the hell was this young man? How did he, one of the Supreme Kai of a universe didn't even know of this young man who was casually speaking to a f*cking bird of time and making the latter call him, young master?!
Apart from the Omni-King, The Grand Priest, and the Destroyers, every other divinity has to show some degree of respect toward a divine bird of time!
What kind of statues does he possess? Is he related to the Destroyers? The Grand Priest? Or worse, related to the Omni-King?
"Ah, no, you're mistaken-…" Seeing this, Whis was gonna cut in but.
"Don't get near me!!!" Zamasu's yelling once again drew their attention as they saw Goku pestering him again.
Zamasu was clearly on the edge of breaking in fury.
"Let him fight you…" Against all odds, Gowasu suddenly spoke and said.
"Lord Gowasu…?" This clearly gave a surprise to Zamasu.
"Fight him, and learn from him, so that you can finally get rid of your distrust toward mortals…"
"I… I understand…"
…
After Gowasu sealed the Time Rings again, they then went towards a plain and a rather flat field where the two could fight without worrying about their surroundings.
No need to say that Goku was very happy.
"Okay, let's start!" As he said that, he transformed into his Super Saiyan form as a fiery aura burned him along with sparks of electricity.
"Incredible, he transformed…" Gowasu noted the exceptional energy flowing out of Goku's body.
"Yes, this is called the Super Saiyan state…" Whis paused for a moment and took a look at Edam who was looking closely at that fight.
The latter then turned toward Gowasu and asked politely. "Hmm, can I ask you a question?"
"Oh? Yes, of course, go ahead." Being a very kind person at heart, Gowasu said kindly.
"Thank you, so hmm, a friend of mine (Zuno) told me that Supreme Kais are Creation Gods responsible for creating life?"
"Hmm, yes, that's right, our roles oppose and support the Destroyer's roles, but why do you ask that child?"
"Hn, I would like to know if you know about something called a Destruction Core?"
"A Destruction Core?" Gowasu was greatly taken aback as he replied blankly. "How do you know this-…"
"What did you say?!" However, something surprised Edam even more as Beerus, who was just a bit away, fiercely grabbed Edam by the collar.
"Brat, did you just mention a damn Destruction Core or did I just hear wrong?" Beerus looked at him right in the eyes with all seriousness.
"I, I did mention it…" Edam replied faintly unsure of what to do about this.
"Tell me right now, where is it and how the hell did you encounter it!" Beerus declared with authority.
"Alright, first of all, put him down, I'll explain...." Yamote, who flew in the air after Edam was collar-lifted, then landed again on his shoulder and started to explain the situation.
He was quite glad, because secretly, he has been waiting for this to happen.
Although he too was a divine being, he wasn't really aware of the Creation and Destruction Gods' business.
And since both he and Edam couldn't have possibly barged in and said, please help us with dealing with a Destruction Core as that could have had the opposite effect, Yamote didn't have a choice but to let this naturally happen.
And he seems right about it. In fact he seems to have underestimated the importance of such a thing.
But, anyway, as he started recounting, for secrecy and safety reasons, Yamote first mentions Hancock as a friend of Edam but then decided to tell the entire truth, recounting how the two were actually lovers and how she was now pregnant and accidentally developed this Core.
The only thing he kept out was the fact that they were from the Other Side.
At the end of the story, a weird and unbelieving expression crept up on the face of all the divine beings present, even Whis' usually calm expression was frowning as he reflected upon a lot of things.
"A newborn Core?" Beerus and Gowasu unconsciously repeat this while Beerus mumbled blankly. "How the hell…"
Beerus' eyes shifted toward Edam. "You…"
"You can use Destruction energy right…?"
"Uh, well I guess..." Edam replied as he remembered Yamote telling him that he possessed something like that.
"Since birth? Can you do it right now?" Beerus asked.
"I think, but, I've got to get into a certain mood…" He remembered the time he used it to destroy some small parts of the Red Line.
Beerus didn't say anything further, and stayed quiet.
Meanwhile, Goku and Zamasu's fight had already started but the hype to see it was greatly cooled down.
At one point, Zamasu and Goku's energy collided as they finally saw a sense of familiarity between Black Goku and Zamasu's ki, but not enough to prove anything.
The fight finally ended in Zamasu's defeat.
"Hmm…" Gowasu, who was deep in thought, then slowly turned toward Edam. "Child-... Umm, I mean, Lord Edam, do you know why Gods and mortals live apart…?"
'Lord huh…' Edam thought with a bittersweet expression. "I don't know, Lord Gowasu but please tell me…"
Gowasu then glanced at Beerus and Whis and saw that they didn't have any intention to interrupt and so continued on.
"Well, that is exactly to prevent things like this from happening… Mortals and Gods aren't meant to be so close to each other without mentioning being lovers…"
He cleared his throat before going on. "You see, in the current Multiverse Era of our King, there should only be twelve Destruction Core which are passed on to the Twelve Gods of Destruction..."
"Huh, so you mean that every Destroyer has those Cores and that it is what makes up their destructive powers? But then how can I use Destruction if I don't have one?"
Edam asked curiously and it was Whis who then spoke.
"Well... you're one of a kind, but with sufficient talents, any mortals are eligible to use Destruction Energy…"
"However, the Cores are different things. They are the position of the Gods of Destruction and contain its very essence. It is due to them that Gods can live forever…"
And then, Beerus finally opened his mouth to speak after staying silent for a long moment.
"And now that leads us to one thing…" His eyes peered into Edam's eyes as he asked with a rough tone. "Where is this Core…?"
"Can't tell you…" Edam immediately replied.
"Tell me…"
"No…"
"Why?"
"No offense, but, I don't trust you…"
"I'm a God you know…"
"A God of Destruction yes, not the most trusty Title if you ask me…"
"I will destroy you, are you sure…?"
"Absolutely…" Edam maintained a calm expression even though he was facing Beerus.
