Chapter 36 Demon Invasion?
The next day, Li Huan packed up his things and waited for Orianna to knock on his door. Yesterday, she hadn’t told him where they were going, for how long, or what he was to
bring.
As such, everything was probably all arranged. So as long as Li Huan was there, it would be fine. As for clothes and supplies, they weren’t for him to worry about.
Therefore, he decided to just wear some light clothes and carry nothing. Since it was a task assigned to him by the Mage Council, he would just listen to orders.
Soon, there was a roar outside the door, as if some creature had stopped there.
There was no mistake. At this time, who else would stop at his door?
When he opened the door, he was greeted by a carriage that was pulled by a few fine horses that had stopped at his door. Orianna poked her head out of the carriage and waved at him, “Your nose is really sharp! You didn’t even wait for us to knock on the door before coming out!”
“Of course. How would I dare slack off on the invitation of a member of the council?”
“Alright! Stop talking nonsense and get in quickly.”
Li Huan got into the carriage. Orianna was clearly about the same age as Lana, but the decorations in the carriage did not look like something a little girl would like at all.
Everything was simple. There was only a table and a few pictures in front of their seats.
As the carriage started to move, Orianna’s eyes became serious. She spread out the map in front of her and looked up at Li Huan.
“Here. I am the main in this mission, and you are the helper I asked for by name. Our mission location this time is in Derr City.”
The mission location this time was quite far. After all, Derr City was quite a distance from the Imperial City. Even if they were to travel without stopping, it would probably take more than a day.
What kind of mission was it that required an elite of the Imperial City to be sent out?
“A demon invasion has occurred in this city.”
“A demon invasion?” Upon hearing this term, Li Huan frowned. He knew about the Demon Race. In this world, other than the plane where the main character was currently on, there were actually several other different planes. There was the holy Divine World, so there naturally was the evil Demonic World.
“That’s right, a demon invasion.”
Li Huan instantly understood. The reason why the Mage Council had directly sent out Orianna was because of her class.
Orianna was a Holy Priest. Priests were just like Mages such that both were large classes with different schools under them. However, other than the more unconventional schools, most Priests specialized in healing or casting buffs.
However, Orianna was different. She was not just a Priest. She was the ceiling among Priests! A Holy Priest!
The status of this class was quite similar to that of a Summoner. The cultivation required a lot of energy and time, and it was difficult for one to get through the initial stage of weakness. However, the light attribute in Orianna’s body was too strong. It could be said that she was born to be a Holy Priest as designated by the Heavens!
The biggest difference between a Holy Priest and other Priests was that the former could control holy water. Or rather, only Holy Priests had the right to control holy water!
The screws in Li Huan’s brain turned and he immediately understood that for the opponents this time, the Holy Priest was probably the same as all the other Priests such that neither could deal direct damage. However, the holy water that Holy Priests could control was extremely lethal against the Red Demons! It was just like how the Life Priest had been completely lethal against the Necromancer previously!
The Red Demons were best at controlling the flames of Hell. Under the burning of the flames of Hell, all living beings would tremble!
The flames of Hell were different from ordinary flames. If it had been just ordinary flames, any water attribute Mage could’ve been arranged to do the job, but the burning flames of Hell could only be extinguished with holy water that was filled with the holy aura!
Thinking about this, the answer should be very obvious.
“Everyone knows that you read a lot, so you should know about the Demon Race, right?”
“Of course.”
Not only did he know, but he might even know more than she did.
“Our mission objective this time is to fight against the demons. First, we will get rid of the demons that have escaped from the Gates of Hell. Then, we will seal the Gates of Hell. We have already read the reports from the locals that the Red Demons are mainly the ones that are wreaking havoc this time the Gates of Hell have been opened.”
Li Huan nodded. This was more or less what he had thought. Since a Holy Priest had been asked to take action, the opponent should be none other than the Red Demons.
“After we reach the city, we’ll first seal the Gates of Hell. After doing so, the combat power of the Red Demons that are wandering outside will be greatly reduced. By then, I need you to help me keep an eye so that no human or demons can disturb my casting.”
Li Huan nodded. After the appearance of demons, there would be no lack of crazed believers who believed that demons should be the rulers of the world. Those high-level believers would even try to open the Gates of Hell. Therefore, Li Huan’s mission was not only to defeat the demons that would come attacking when Orianna cast her spell, but also to defeat those hidden fanatics.
“It’s a small problem. It’s not too difficult.”
Li Huan knew that he was now in a version of the game that the players had yet to enter. In the current version, the demons only had average strength. With his current strength at level 25, it would be easy for him to defeat those low-level monsters.
“Even for me, it’s my first time facing the Demon Race. I don’t think you’ve encountered them before, right? All of our information was obtained from books. Since we can face the demons head-on this time, we have to collect more data.”
“Don’t worry, I’ve already said it. I’m also a member of the Mage Council, so how will I slack off on such things?”.
To be honest, Li Huan was quite eager to get such quests. The quests that he usually received from Professor Nano or the Academy didn’t provide him with many benefits. Only such combat quests could allow him to obtain more EXP.
Besides, this was his first time facing a more mysterious and rare race as an NPC in the game. How could he not be tempted?
“Alright, I’ll be relieved with your words!”
Initially, Orianna thought that Li Huan was the kind of person who didn’t pay attention to the outside world. She had thought that as long as he was free, he would put all his attention on his books. It seemed that her stereotypical thinking was getting in the way.
