Lu Xiheng didn’t respond to Shang Lu. He picked up his glass and gulped down more wine. Within minutes, he curled up on the couch and fell asleep.

As for Shang Lu, it was a sleepless night for him.

At 9 a.m. the next morning.

Shang Lu drove to the villa of the Li Family by himself. A grey haze veiled the gloomy sky, and the thick clouds blotted out the sun.

He was still wearing yesterday’s casual pants and shirt. Eyes bloodshot and face tired, he held the steering wheel with one hand and kept sighing and grunting.

The gate of the Li Family was only dozens of meters away. Shang Lu became irritated and frustrated when he thought of the scene he was about to face.

What the f*ck was this!?

No one had asked for his opinion when they had arranged this marriage for him. Yet now he had to come here and play the bad guy and break it off. How was that fair!?

Exasperated and resentful, Shang Lu glared at the beautiful iron gate and spent several minutes preparing himself before he opened the car door and strode toward it.

After he pushed the doorbell, and a lovely melody rang out, followed by the iron gate sliding open.

Then, the empty-handed Shang Lu stood in the middle of the road and stared at the group of maidservants waiting for him in the gorgeous yard of the villa. He was stupefied.

What kind of a family was this? Their servants were all female?

At that moment, the head of the maidservants walked to Shang Lu, holding a tray. She picked up a towel from the tray and handed it to him and said with a smiling face, “Good morning, Mr. Shang. Welcome to the Li Family. Please wipe your hands first.”

The maidservant looked quite young and, dare he say it, too coquettish and seductive.

Shang Lu stood still with a deadpan face. This was not the Li Family. This was hell.

He came out of his daze a short moment later and turned his wary eyes to the maidservant. He involuntarily took a step back and said, “Put it down. I can do it myself.”

The obedient maidservant placed the towel back onto the tray, yet surreptitiously moved a little closer to Shang Lu.

At this point, Shang Lu’s already sour face turned even grimmer.

He narrowed his eyes vigilantly and reproached her in a deep voice, “Why are you so close to me? Is this how the Li Family treats their guests?”

With a broad smile, the maidservant nodded and answered, “We heard that Mr. Shang is a doctor and works in a hospital. This is only routine sanitation. Please forgive us.”

Shang Lu didn’t say anything more, yet he felt like he was being discriminated against as though he were a walking virus.

With a long face, Shang Lu remained silent for a while. However, just as he reluctantly picked up the towel and was about to wipe his fingers, the maidservant in front of him suddenly swayed and fell into his arms while screaming, “Ah, it’s so slippery here…”

Shang Lu was in a frenzy.

“Holy f*ck! Blaargh…”

The whole yard fell silent the moment Shang Lu threw up.

All the “maidservants” stared at him in disbelief, eyes wide. They were dumbstruck.

It was so weird. So it was true that there were people in the world who would vomit as soon as they touched a woman?

The maidservant who had pretended to fall pushed Shang Lu away at once while he bent down to retch, and leaped nimbly to the side.

Even though Shang Lu wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, he had figured out what was going on here.

The Li Family had deliberately planned this.

Shang Lu would puke his heart out every time he had physical contact with a woman. He hadn’t eaten breakfast that morning and was almost throwing up bile right now.

“You… Ask Li Qiao to come out!” Shang Lu bellowed in a husky voice. His bloodshot eyes were glistening with tears.

Ever since the maidservant had fallen into his arms, his skin had broken out in an itchy rash. This, coupled with his upset stomach, made it to where he could hardly take a single step.

No one standing in the yard responded to him. Shang Lu wobbled around and struggled to maintain his balance. He raised his head and saw the members of the Li Family walk out through the front porch.

Thank God they still had a conscience!

Shang Lu wiped his eyes and straightened up, feigning calm and confidence. He looked straight at Li Guangming and was about to speak, but Li Guangming ignored him and waved his hand at the butler. “Open the gate, quickly,” he ordered.
