The grim reaper.
The most powerful earth god anyone had ever heard of sent a message to Lie Wei Ying's father. His dad had no idea he was going to die if not for Lie Wei Ying until he received said message.
His father was still trying to fathom how his young boy could be so strong. Did he just take care of three golden core thugs?
Wang Lie had been strong all his life, but he had never been quite as strong as his son.
He walked into his boy's room as the boy was holding a trumpet in his hand.
The system had given him this trumpet this morning. However, Lie Wei Ying didn't want to leave yet. Once he blew the trumpet he'd have to leave his mom and dad for a while and begin on his quest to power. However, the journey to power took a long time, so when he saw his dad he smiled with a sad grin on his face.
Wang Lie smiled back. He had no idea his son would be leaving soon when he played that trumpet. However, at this moment, he was sure wherever his son ended up, he'd be much stronger than all those around him. Also, he just wanted to say thank you this morning. So, like a good dad he cooked some breakfast for Lie Wei Ying.
They both sat together and started eating.
It was a delicious morning for them both.
His dad had just found out he would die in five years according to the letter, and his son just found out he'd soon be leaving his beloved dad he just saved. However, the system kept saying it wouldn't take him long to grow in power, and he'd probably return in a year at most.
How strong could he possibly get in a year?
The system, however, had its plans, if it couldn't make the boy unbelievably powerful in a few years, it would totally be a wasted use of the overpowered system.
"Uhm, dad I had a really bad feeling those men were going to kill you. If I happen to leave, please don't fight any more."
Wang Lie's dad laughed. "Son, I plan to devote my entire time to my family for the next five years. The grim reaper will be coming for me soon, son. He even sent me this weirdly neatly written note saying he has a lot of appointments but he reserved a day five years from now for collecting me."
Lie Wei Ying gulped. He now definitely had to get stronger. Hopefully, the system could really make him stronger in these five years, so he wouldn't have to lose his beloved dad.
"Father, I will protect you! I promise. All I need to do is go on a trip for a little while..."
The system butt in and gave Lie Wei Ying advice. "Tell him you found a new master, and he is going to train you! Trust me Lie Wei Ying they'll feel better about you leaving."
Lie Wei Ying coughed. "Uhm, I found a master who requested I leave and go train for a few years. I promise when I get back I'll take care of the grim reaper for you."
Wang Lie was confused. What kind of master would take in a three-year old? Was that how his son was so strong?
It was possible for great masters to use a variety of things to make the people under their tutelage stronger. However, Lie Wei Ying's master must have used something extraordinary to boost his sons power so fast. However, no number of pills, or divine formulations, or cultivation manuals could make it possible to grow to
the earth god stage in 5 years. Moreover, he had only five years left! He didn't want his son spending all his time with some crazy old man.
Earth Gods were the stage before immortals, and they were incredibly strong.
Throughout the planet they were on called Mother, which was quite large, there was only perhaps five thousand earth gods, and they were divided equally between the three great sects. The only sect he was privy to was the body sect, and they only had like 200 earth gods.
His son would have would to go from the golden core stage, the nascent stage, the budding core stage, the emperor stage before he became an earth god. Even then the earth god stage had 9 levels. He was sure that the grim reaper was at stage 9. Even if his son was given the best resources for the next millennium, he'd probably only reach the tip of the earth god stage.
"Son, absolutely not! Your father has no choice, but to steal you from that master, and spend all his time with you and your mom!"
Lie Wei Ying sighed. "Sorry dad. I really have no choice if I'm going to save you, and you can't stop me."
His dad was sort of confused, and grabbed his son's arms. "Listen, whomever your master is I don't like him, and he has to give me my son for five years."
Lie Wei Ying smiled and put the trumpet to his mouth. "I'll be back in two year's dad, at most. I promise I'll slaughter that silly grim reaper for you, and turn him into a bone statue."
Lie Wei Ying blew on the trumped as a mysterious gale spun around him.
"Congratulations you've blown the trumpet of challenge! Cost 10 OP points. Y/N"
"Yes!"
Lie Wei Ying pushed off his dad. His father was trying to figure out why his son was blowing a trumpet.
"I'll see you in a few years, dad!" Lie Wei Ying said. Nothing was more important to him then family. It even made him crazy enough to blow this trumpet that apparently cost him 1/10th of a life. Hopefully, it would take him somewhere good.
....
After Lie Wei Ying blew the trumpet of challenge, he ended up in a new place.
The sky around him was full of dust, and he heard a woman screaming.
It was not what he was expecting. He kind of figured it would be a challenge, not a new place. Why exactly did this transportation thing have to cost him 1/10th of a life? He could have just flown here.
Regardless, he arrived in a place called Monster City. He had never actually heard of this place before and was extremely surprised by the city.
He'd saw countless bodies plucked and poked with gigantic spears. There skulls were at the end of the pole, with their bodies and skeletons hanging down on the side of the spear. It was quite a site, almost frightening, and Lie Wei Ying had no idea what he got himself into.
The world he was in, Mother, had a lot of mysterious places, and most of them were in the west country.
The people who lived on mother weren't only humans. There were also an interesting mix of demon beasts, devils, and magic beasts. However, some of them preferred to remain in solitude. Lie Wei Ying could only guess this was a reclusive people.
Regardless, in his mind, he waved good bye to his father, and started on his journey. Then a second later two daggers appeared on his back and he was very surprised.
"You've received the [Extremely OP daggers of the Inferno]. The system had to beg the universe to give it at a 9000% percent discount. However, he will only be able to do this for you once. 90 OP stones have been deducted from your balance."
Lie Wei Ying sighed before he pulled the daggers out from the strap on his back. It was like looking at one of his remaining lives, and he sighed realizing he was probably cheated by the system.
"So can you tell me where we are system," Lie Wei Ying asked. A few screams filled his ears once again before he could tune into the system voice inside of him. At the next moment, a girl flew through the sky with a terrified expression on her face.
"Help me! Help me," She yelled as an exquisitely dressed man prepared to bite down into her flesh.
Lie Wei Ying sighed before he picked up his new daggers and flew off the ground. He sort of levitated this morning and was able to figure out how to fly after that. Instantly, he broke the chase as the girl looked back with terror in her eyes.
Where the monster once was a gigantic spear had been placed. The body that was once on it plopped down on top of the surprised man. It was only hoping to sink its teeth into a beautiful maiden. However, he ended up getting a spear through the top of his head.
The girl shivered before she turned around.
Lie Wei Ying could tell she was powerful for such a small girl. If he saw her when he was fifteen in his last life, he would've been butchered instantly. She seemed to be roughly twelve years old and had tears running down her face, yet she was at the foundation stage.
"Is he really dead," She wimpered. "Did you really kill one of the Counts?"
Lie Wei Ying nodded. Of course, he wouldn't let a girl be eaten in front of him. As a guy, he had a duty to protect women! It only made sense that he'd protect them first, and if he could get benefits from them later. However, he didn't quite understand what those benefits were yet. He just knew he shouldn't be one of those men who doesn't go after what he wants.
Lie Wei Ying pointed over towards the dead body on the ground "You mean this guy was a Count? What exactly was he in charge of?"
The girl laughed before she walked over to him. "Well, he oversaw the place where I grew up, and he didn't like how strong I was getting, so he was going to eat me. My name is Feng Mian by the way. You just saved my life."
Lie Wei Ying pulled out the spear and put it back where it belonged. The monster's mouth finally showed, and two gigantic fangs were present. However, then Lie Wei Ying realized he never got an experience message. Shouldn't he have gotten some experience?
"Uhm, glad to hear that and all, but is this monster dead," Lie Wei Ying kicked its heads sending it flying off towards one of the surrounding mountains. There was a ton of mountains, and it took the counts body just ten seconds to hit the top of one roughly a mile away.
A dust cloud arose as Lie Wei Ying waited to get some experience.
"Ha, it's exceptionally hard to kill the Counts, but he's not going to be okay for a few days. However, you seem incredibly strong," She said as she walked over to him. "Would you happen to be a hero, boy?"
She leaned in and examined him up and down. There was some legends about people who would come and save her, however, those were just rumors! Regardless, Lie Wei Ying happened to fit the bill of one of those legends.
"Uhm, I just saved you because it was my job big sister. How about you show me around town, and if there's anyone I can kill for you let me know. I really need to get some experience for my dad! He's apparently going to get killed in five years."
The girl laughed before she walked in front of him. She was wearing a green dress and had a lanky body. In his home town, she'd be considered extremely beautiful. However, then he walked into the town with her.
All the women were shockingly beautiful, however, they all had their heads down.
"Welcome to Monster City, land of the twenty-five great immortals. You already met the weakest of them Lie Wei Ying." She turned over towards him and smiled before she pulled him by his hand. A lot of people were probably waiting to meet him. It was the first time in years they had any hope.
Truthfully, all the girls in this town were under the age of nineteen. The oldest girls were only eighteen years old, and the next year they'd usually be taken by one of the men.
She also didn't believe in heroes. However, the young man she just met might be the perfect distraction for some of the girls.
She brought Lie Wei Ying into a small tavern where one of those seventeen year old girls was serving drinks to the guests. A few strong looking men stood up immediately when Lie Wei Ying walked in. They were not used to unwelcomed guests.
