67 Chapter 67: Let's maintain a distance

Name:Part Wolf Author:obsessedWithWolves
It's been three hours since Zack lost consciousness. He had coughed out a lot of blood and then suddenly had stopped moving. Elize didn't know what to do. At first she hesitated going near him. She wasn't sure if what the stone told her worked. What if it didn't? What if it was just the weak wolf pretending to be unconscious so that he could grab her while she came near him? After a lot of brainstorming, she picked up a broken piece of stone and tossed it at him. Since there was no reaction, she had gone closer. Upon reaching him, she realized that he was not breathing.

Panicked, she called out to the stone who asked her to drag him to the pool of life. She had somehow managed to push his body all the way to the other room, although his limp body weighed way too much for her to handle. Pushing the body into the water, she had hoped that he'd come right back up after the magical water worked its way into his system. But five minutes into the action, the body was still lying at the bottom of the pool. Impatient, she jumped into the pool herself and brought him up. She had managed to keep his head afloat while keeping a strong grip under his arms for all this while. It was beyond tiring. Especially after what she had gone through.

So when the limp body grew weightless, and started to sway, she was relieved. She tossed him back into the pool, relieving her hands of the weight of the huge bulk. Without looking back, she walked away from the spot and sat on the pool steps. Leaning on to her knees, she kept her eyes on the spot where his body sank. Bubbles were surfacing in that particular area. Finally! She thought, exhausted.

His head emerged from the pool first as he resurfaced with panic. Water splashed all over her drying body. His eyes were bloodshot and his hair was matted to his head as he looked around the area with a murderous intent. Elize looked at the eye candy in front of her. He looked pitiable right then. He deserved at least that much for giving up his body to his wolf. She was almost raped! His searching eyes landed on Elize and relaxed instantaneously.

"Elize?! Why am I-?" Zack asked her innocently while wiping the water dripping from his hair off of his face.

Elize narrowed her eyes at him. Did he really forget about what happened?! Should she remind him with a smack on his head?! She thought, fuming inside. Hiding her emotions well, she decided to play the innocent card.

"Is it really you?" She asked, battering her eyes lashes at him.

Elize reached her hand out towards him, calling him to her side. She wanted to look deep into his eyes and glare at him pointedly until he remembered. How dare he forget?! Zack waded towards her, like a prey entranced by its predator's charm. He had fallen for it, she thought with much satisfaction. What should she do? Smack? Slap? Bite? Kick?

SLAP.

"You jerk! What was that?! I hate you!" She screamed, at a shocked Zack.

There that felt better, Elize thought shaking her fist. It probably hurt her more than him, but this was needed to vent her pent up irritation. Taking a deep breath, she got up from the place abruptly and walked towards the broken door. Seeing the stone boulders all over the place irritated her. It only reminded her of the horrifying moment that the stupid wolf was chasing her down. She could hear the water splash as Zack got up from his seat to follow her. In a flash he was in front of her, a look of desperation in his eyes.

"Please-"

"Step aside." Elize interrupted rudely without looking at him.

Seeing that he didn't budge, she sidestepped him and started walking away.

"Elize wait!" She heard him plead. She forced herself to keep walking. He had to say sorry at least once. She'd forgive him after that. She loved him after all. Just a sorry would do. Or was she being too harsh on him? All sorts of thoughts haunted her head as she kept walking.

"Whatt- aarrgh!" His scream cut through the air, stopping her in her tracks.

What was that?! Panicking, she turned back towards him. Her eyes widened in shock as they landed on the figure crouching down on the floor. Zack had his palms pressed against his head, his face contorted in pain. Elize's heart started beating hard. Was it happening all over again?! Was he in pain? She ran towards him in a hurry. Bending down next to him, she placed her hands above his, trying to turn his face towards her.

"Zack?" She called, panting.

As she applied force, Zack started shaking his head, screaming in a higher pitch.

"No no no no!!" He shouted, tears streaming down his face.

Elize didn't understand what was happening. She just knew that he was in some sort of pain. And he was not willing to let her in. But she couldn't allow it. She had to know that he was fine. Maybe if he told her about it, she could help him.

"Zack?!" Elize called, raising her voice.

Suddenly she was shoved back. Her rear hit the stone floor quite forcefully. She looked up at him, annoyed. Why did he do that now?!

"Stay away!" Zack shouted in anger.

Taking a deep breath, she calmed herself. Zack never acted like that. Something must be wrong. She should atleast ask, she thought as she bent towards him.

"Babe? What- what is happening? Are you fi-"

"I said stay away from me!" He thundered, making her cringe back in fear.

If he was going to act like an ungrateful mutt then he can enjoy being like that, she thought getting up from the floor. She turned away from where he was, anger coursing through her.

"Fine! I hate you!" She said, taking one last look at him and then stormed off into the adjacent room.

-------------------------------

4 hours later

"Can I have clothes? I don't like being naked anymore." Elize said, looking up at the ceiling.

In the blink of an eye, a plain white silk dress appeared on one side of the bed.

"Thanks stonie, I guess I only have you to talk with now." She said, sliding into the dress.

It was a perfect fit, as if it was tailor made for her. It made her wonder if the stone was lying about being unable to see her. If it didn't see her than how did he know her measurements? She thought, playing with the short puffed sleeves of her ankle length dress.

'Please, I beg you. Stop calling me that. I have a name.' The Tohar Sehlah replied in an exhausted tone.

"Fine. But why do you think he got angry at me?" She asked.

'I'm sorry but I cannot access his mind or his feelings. So asking me would-'

"Maybe I should have given him some space?" She asked, ignoring the mystical stone.

"Elize? Who are you talking to?" The question startled her.

She turned around to see Zack standing at the door way to the pool room. His eyebrows were raised in question. His eyes were bloodshot and he had bags under his eyes. Was he crying? Elize asked herself as she narrowed her eyes at him.

"The stone. But now apparently you too." She replied sarcastically.

Zack sighed. He took a step towards her. Seeing that it didn't gain him any glares, he continued walking forward till he was a foot away from where she was sitting. Elize kept her eyes on him, staring at his face with a blank expression. Zack awkwardly ran his hands through his hair. With an embarrassed expression, he tried to apologize.

"I'm sorry. I don't know how I lost control. I-"

"Are you here to apologize?" Elize asked cutting him off.

She appeared as if she was amused. Her heart kept telling her to let her guard down. But she was not ready to. Not yet.

"I'm sorry." He said abruptly.

"For what?" She asked mocking innocence.

"What I did-"

"What did you do?"

"I-"

"Forget it. It's fine." She said waving her hands at him.

At least she heard an apology. It seems he remembered. He must be feeling like shit now. She didn't want to scrub hot pepper in the wound. Elize thought, giving him a heartfelt smile. She got up from the bed and took a step towards him. Zack suddenly seemed nervous. He took a step back.

"Please, stay where you are." He pleaded, a pain flashing in his eyes.

Elize raised her eye brows in question. "What do you mean?"

"Please. Let's just maintain a safe distance." Zack said, looking away.

Elize's mouth fell open. Now what was this bullshit?!
