91 Chapter 90: Radur Runebreaker

Name:Part Wolf Author:obsessedWithWolves
Their offensive witchcraft class was just done with and now they had to go move on to the next class- which was supernatural history. Unlike their witchcraft classes, the coming class was a compulsory one for every fresher without discriminating between witch, wolf, faerie or any other supernatural being. The two girls were hurriedly walking towards their classroom with one of them more or less carrying the other. Agatha's mood hadn't lightened up since yesterday morning and it was making the witch more and more whiny. Up to an extent where it was getting on her nerves. She guessed it had something to do with Legolas not showing up after class yesterday.

"You're so lucky that it's your last class today." Elize said, rolling her eyes. "I on the other hand have evening classes as well. Would you like to complain more?"

"I know I know. But you hardly have to do any work in the class!" Agatha complained

"That's going to change when my powers return or if I shift- whichever comes first." Elize replied.

"I'm so jealous of you right now." The witch whined.

"Sure let's exchange fates then." Elize said with a wide grin.

"Nah I'm good." Agatha said, quickly dismissing the idea.

The two had already reached in front of a brightly lit room. Unlike their earlier classroom, this one was much bigger in size with steps leading down to the concentric rows of benches in descending levels. At the end of the stairs was a raised platform on which stood an ancient looking wooden podium and another door at the back of it, which was probably for the sole use of the teachers, Elize thought. She looked around the huge classroom which was now buzzing with the murmur of the students.

The seats towards the extreme front and back were already filled with the former occupied by very students who were diligently reading some book or the other and the latter mostly by boys and girls who had their hands all over each other. She was searching for a decent seat in the middle row when she heard a familiar voice call out.

"Agatha! Elize!" Legolas called out excitedly, waving his hands at them. "Come on over."

Elize grinned, seeing her friend. She had missed his sarcastic comments in the past two classes. Agatha had been busy doing all the practical parts of their class while she could only sit back and watch, taking away all the fun from whatever Miss Natsya had taught. Elize could only blame her loss of powers which was quite a huge handicap when it came to practicing magic.

Thankfully, Natsya had paired them off into teams, pairing her with Agatha and hence sparing her from the scrutiny of her classmates. She was so eagerly looking forward to the next class precisely because it only contained theory and of course because she knew that Agatha's sour mood would lighten up once she sees Legolas.

Elize chuckled, seeing her friend. She would have gotten jealous of the affection which the witch seemed to have for the elf if Legolas was a stranger. But now that the three were quite closely knit, Elize didn't really mind it. Besides, he somehow seemed to know how to handle Agatha's mood swings- which after yesterday night, she understood could get quite nasty.

She followed Agatha as the witch hurriedly waded through the students standing in groups along the way. The elf was sitting in between two empty seats, looking up at them like a puppy seeing his master come home. Elize jumped over his extended legs to sit on his right while Agatha took the seat on the left. The witch excitedly turned to the elf as soon as she was settled down.

"You know what happened?" She started, making both Elize and Legolas turn towards her. She continued happily seeing that she had their attention. "After you left I-"

Agatha stopped talking midway, the expression on her face turning sour once again. Elize was confused as to what prompted the sudden change of mood. She followed the direction of the witch's gaze tiling her head slightly towards her right. Firyr was sitting just beside her and was now waving at Agatha with an awkward smile.

"Hello Agatha." The girl said shyly.

Elize looked back and forth the two girls. Agatha seemed to struggle with a reply. Taking the clue, Elize quickly turned around with a polite smile to face the she elf.

"Oh hey Firyr." She quickly replied for her friend.

She hadn't noticed that the girl was sitting just beside her. There was something different about her today- she appeared more confidant somehow. They hadn't seen her in the morning as well, making her wonder where the girl was. Although she felt quite bad for Firyr after hearing her story, Elize wasn't comfortable around her. She couldn't place it, but there was something about the she elf that made her want to maintain a distance for her despite the girl's meek appearance.

Firyr smiled at Elize and turned back towards Agatha. "How was your day?" She asked.

"Uhh.. okayish I guess. Nothing much happened." Agatha said, forcing a smile. "How was yours?" She asked politely.

"Oh well it was actually good! We had a couple of difficult classes but thankfully Legolas sat with me and helped me understand everything." Firyr said excitedly. "We even got paired to do our first assignment! Can you believe it?!"

"Oh?" Agatha asked with a smirk, turning to Legolas with an icy glare.

Legolas chuckled, awkwardly scratching his hair. Before the situation could worsen, the door behind the podium opened and a very short man came out from it, silencing the room. Elize could guess that he was a dwarf from his round nose and his stretched skin besides his height. The man quickly climbed up the stool kept behind the podium and tapped on its flat surface, demanding everyone's attention.

Sliding up his narrow goggles, he said with a serious expression. "Good morning everyone, welcome to Supernatural History. I'm Radur Runebreaker, your teacher for the next six months."

"Praise Luna." The entire class greeted in unison.

"Yes yes, Praise Luna." He said waving his hands dismissively at the class. "Now without further ado, let us begin our class. The topic for today's lecture is…"

As soon as the man started talking, Elize leaned towards Legolas. "Psst. Is everything alright between you two? What am I missing here?"

"I don't know. Agatha seems to be annoyed with me." Legolas whispered back.

Elize peeked at her friend who was now sitting with her back straight, facing the teacher with a neutral expression. The witch's mood certainly had worsened. She appeared to not have any interest in their conversation, which was so unlike her.

"I thought so too. What did you do?" Elize asked, turning her attention once again towards Legolas.

"I swear I have no clue." He replied desperately. "I was going to ask you guys to come with me to the nearby town after the class. But then you got a summons from the Vice Principal and Agatha forced me to give company to Firyr. That girl dragged me around the campus the whole day and I couldn't meet Agatha as I had promised. But I'm planning to go into the town today. I need you to convince Agatha to come out with us."

"Oh..well I can't come since I have plans to study." Elize lied. "Why don't you take the two of them out after class? Agatha wouldn't say no. You should ask her yourself." She encouraged him.

"Are you sure that you don't want to come?" Legolas tempted, "Apparently there's this really good kabab shop in the-"

"Stop!" She said interrupting the elf. "Don't tempt me right now. I really have to study." Elize pleaded.

She really wanted to go along with them but she had her classes with the wolves in the evening. And the gates to the compound would get locked soon after sunset. Hence she knew that she couldn't go with them and she couldn't tell her reasons to Legolas without exposing her identity. Although she trusted him, she didn't want him to know about her identity as the Chosen One yet. She still had to come to terms with her own identity before disclosing it to him.

"You're going to regret it." Legolas said with a shrug.

"You sound like your sister." Elize teased.

"No I don't!" The elf retorted.

"Of course you-"

Before she could complete the taunt, a loud voice echoed from the direction of the podium. Elize's head snapped towards the direction, startled.

"Legolas Nightwing!" Radur Runebreaker thundered.

"Shit." Legolas cursed under his breath.

"Am I a joke to you?" Mister Runebreaker asked, his eyes wide in anger.

"Well-"

"And who might this be?" He asked, turning towards Elize.

Heads snapped towards her as soon as Mister Runebreaker turned to her. Elize grew nervous. wishing that she had the ability to disappear. From the corner of her eyes she spotted Aerin and her lackeys laughing at her from the seats in the front row. Great! So much for keeping a low profile, she thought cursing her luck in her mind.

"Uh- Elize, sir." Elize meekly replied.

"Elize who?" Runebreaker asked.

"Elize Gurg sir." She said, standing up awkwardly.

"Gurg? Are you a wolf?" The dwarf asked with a smirk.

"Yes sir." She replied nervously, biting her lip.

Radur Runebreaker was infamous in the academy for having the worst temper among all the faculty. He was rumored to have trapped a student in a nightmare illusion using a higher level demon for not answering his questions in the class. Elize didn't want to imagine what punishment she'd get for getting caught talking in the class.

"Tell me Elize, what was I talking about just now?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at her.
