Chapter 75 - Frozen In Fear

|First POV Max|

Waking up 04:00 am I did my morning routine consisting of some simple exercises to get the blood rushing before practising martial arts which integrates my ability to mould and shoot bones from my body.

Most people would use my obviously ranged ability for well, ranged combat but my ability is not limited to shooting bone spikes from my hands as I can shoot bone spikes from anywhere on my body.

In hand to hand combat, I can catch my opponent off guard by suddenly shooting a bone spike from knew or even my forehead.

I've been playing around with bone moulding and tried to create armour. Currently, I've been able to incase my hands in bone but moulding bones outside my body takes up a lot of my concentration and stamina. So I've been trying to find ways to increase my reaction speed in hopes of quickly creating bone armour in the place where I would take damage.

After practising I jumped in the shower and had breakfast whilst looking over my plans for the day.

Today was my big day. It was the day I take the life of an innocent man, Guy Anderson. Admittedly it was not the first innocent life I've taken. Since I worked as a mercenary and a bounty hunter to gain some fame in hopes getting an invite from the Contract Killer groups which worked.

Guy Anderson was just another obstacle in my pursuit for that rush of adrenaline. I had done my research and easily deduced who the employee was. Guy Anderson is the owner of the not too famous Future Games studio. Recently they've been pressured to sell by a much more influential game company. That company being D.A a mostly infamous game company that popularised the most controversial game mechanic, Loot Box.

The man trying to acquire Future games is Hue Harrison, a 35 years old game developer. This is not in any way Mr Harrison's first time conspiring with contract killers.

Despite the popular belief, the killer organisations don't just contact the rich. They also look for weak, desperate and poor individuals that have the talent to make money. Why? Because they are easier to control.

Naturally, they can't pay the organisation's so they find themselves heavily in debt. The debt forces the clients to keep contact and over time as they begin to feel like they can rely on the organisation.

Mr Harrison is one of these individuals. Initially, he was just a talented programmer but then a higher position opened up. The Royals contacted him and then dealt with the competitors. He's been a loyal customer ever since.

Most governments already know about this but are unable to intervene due to the difficulty of trying to identify a possible victim. In most cases, the authorities will only learn about it after the client has either gone bankrupt or decided to report himself for government protection after not being able to pay.

It's a scary side of the world and I f.u.c.k.i.n.g love it. I live for this type shit. During my one year of military training, I learned that I had an unhealthy fascination with danger. From the deafening sounds of gunfire to the quiet ticking of a time bomb ready to blow any second.

I had fallen madly in love with the technical missions and the chaos that came from the small mistakes. I would have happily joined the army but I the lack of information during mission do not sit well with me.

After that, I did mercenary work and some bounty jobs while doing this type of work I heard about these killer organisations and their competitive ranking system. I had to join them after hearing the benefits.

. . . . . .

Hours later hidden among other runners was me with a new face. I had a small watch on my wrist that counted my steps just like most of the other runners with one small difference being the addition of a map with Mr Anderson's location.

For starters, Mr Anderson has suffered from high blood pressure but those results date back to 2010 since then he's never had a checkup. I got this info after calling in a favour from a hacker friend. l had his entire schedule and his emails. I then stopped by at the diner he usually has breakfast at and dropped a pill into his coffee.

The thing I slipped into his drink is the first part of my murder weapon. An untraceable and tasteless herbal remedy I had stocked up from a bounty mission I took up a couple of months back in China.

It's used to clear the liver and reduce liver inflation but that's just a scam. However, taking a highly concentrated version turns a cheap scam into a poison that reduces liver functions. Understand that the liver is a filter for all terrible products consumed and breathed in.

With the liver, functions reduced the air itself is poison but he won't die anytime soon. It will only make his body weak.

I acted as a volunteer for L. A Big Run and placed a tracker on his participant number.

Now dressed up as a runner I was near the back nowhere near Mr Anderson. I plan to not overtake anyone but stick near the centre because Mr Anderson will fall back due to his now deteriorating body.

When he finally gets close and looks to be losing his balance I'll catch him and I'll let him drink some water that I've spiked to cause a heart attack that will unlike most heart attack kill him. The autopsy will reveal that Mr Anderson had a suffered from Cirrhosis which is the scarring of the liver caused by long-term liver damage.

To make it believable I hired a thief I know to sneak into Mr Anderson's place just litter the place with alcohol bottles.

Everything was perfect but my excitement for the kill got the better of me as I let a tiny portion of killer intent out causing the people around to shake from the pure malice that radiated off me.

Out of curiosity, I got closer to get a better view. That was until six sturdy strong looking runners surrounded them like they were the president. I then watch them slip on a pair of black gloves with the handsome guy making a clone and joining them in throwing punches.

As I watched I heard the most terrifying voice echo. An ensemble of the world's most dangerous predators pierced my soul. The morning sun seems to go dim as the figures around me turn into smudges. The suns warmth withered and replacing it was freezing chill that crashed into my body and froze it in place.

At that moment I felt something inhuman grip my heart and slowly poke it talons in. I suddenly feel like I lost my footing and step back to catch myself.

The voice disappears and my heart feels normal once again. I look around to see whether anyone else heard it but it was just me.

I look towards the guy in the wolf suit and saw a destructive glint of red pass through his eyes. I instinctively inferred that it was warning me. In a nervous sweat I hurriedly distanced myself.

I continue to walk away and slowly change my facial features before riping the number on my c.h.e.s.t off to reveal another number under it. As I changed I clicked a small button on my watch causing the security cams in the area to lag for 2 seconds.

Although the voice was gone my mentality and bearings were damaged.

'What the f.u.c.k just happened? I'm still shaking, I can barely think straight and my body feels so much weaker. Come on breathe you bastard!.. where did the guards come from I didn't even notice them? I need to keep my distance'

I started to panic as I concluded that this easy kill was anything but.

|Third Pov Icy|

Theodore's clone was still busy trying to catch up with Icy. Every time he went past someone Icy appeared to get further and further away while he struggled to push through the crowds.

"Sorry, excuse me, out of the way, please. Icy, Icy where are you going!?"

Icy had heard Theodore clone shout his name many times but he simply ignored and zoomed through the crowds weaving in and out hoping he would lose him.

While running Icy was using the Super-Pets mental phone to communicate with BreadWinner, the pigeon.

"Do you still see him, BreadWinner"

"Yeah just keep running straight he's hard to miss. Also, your human is still chasing you. You need to lose him if we want to keep our secret"

"I know, I'm trying. Do you see anywhere I can lose him"

"There's a hotdog stand up ahead you can hide behind it for a few seconds"

"Thanks"

Reaching the stand he hid behind it with the owner silently smiling at him before tossing him a hotdog.

Theodore looked around, confused on how Icy vanished.

"Hey save me some!" complained Breadwinner seeing his partner eating before diving from the sky's

"Fine" Said Icy dropping bun on the ground where BreadWinner then scooped up and went back into being the eyes in the sky.

Theodore's initial worry turned to panic as he realises that he has lost Icy. He started shouting louder before darting through the crowds.

"Okay he's gone"

Icy started running again.

"So like how are you gonna fight anyway?" Asked BreadWinner

"Well I'll distract him and you shoot him with your feathers to knock him out"Said Icy

"And then?"

"Then what?"

"Well if we do manage to put him to sleep that's fine but once he wakes up he'll just go back to most likely destroying the place" Said BreadWinner

Icy gives a nervous reply "What should we do then?"

"We might have to kill him but I think you're too young for that, so let's ask the group"

Then post their situation on the Bridge group chat hoping to get an answer.

[Bullet]: I could teleport him to a secluded area where we can properly educate him but I need to of seen and felt the area to teleport to your location

[ Phoenix]: Sound like a perfect time to show you just how amazing this pretty parrot is
