Chapter 270 - Saving a Life

"Are you guys done!?" Ling Wuxia yelled at them.

Lu Mingshu pouted and side-eyed Zhou Ruying.

Zhou Ruying grinned and went up. "Hey, Miss Ling, the world is such a nice place, chill! We can talk anything out."

Ling Wuxia looked at her and swallowed the words in her throat. "Fine, I just feel like helping them. What's wrong?"

"Nothing's wrong!" Zhou Ruying waved her hand. "I'm cool about it."

Lu Mingshu nodded in agreement.

Their current situation didn’t offer them much choice. As Zhou Ruying said, they were outsiders, so if they wanted to stay, they could stay, and if they wanted to leave, they could leave.

However, not only were they from another place, they were from another world.

It wasn’t hard to leave this city, but to look for a new one and try to earn spirit stones to get back was very troublesome! And who knew if the mirror had any restrictions and could only work in this particular city? What if they couldn’t go back anywhere else?

So, what Yan Fei and Su Ze said was true; it was better to work with them.

It was just that…

"They wouldn't lie to us, right?” Zhou Ruying asked. "Those two have been here for so long. I felt that they are not that trustworthy!"

"Are you trustworthy then?" Ling Wuxia sneered.

"Hey!" Zhou Ruying still wasn't used to her. "If something happens to you, make sure I don't die with you, okay?"

"Hmph!"

"I remember that the Solid Pellet Realm is the highest cultivation in Volt Wing City, right?"

Ling Wuxia nodded. "That's what we heard."

"The Solid Pellet Realm is even harder to reach than the Spirit Realm. If we can avoid them, we have a high chance of succeeding."

"So, you're going to agree?" Zhou Ruying asked.

Lu Mingshu looked behind her. "If we don't, we will bring even more trouble."

With their ability, it wasn’t hard to tell that someone was following them. Obviously, it was Su Ze and Yan Fei who sent the person. It was such a big secret, so how could they just leave it be? In fact, they didn't want to reveal their secret in the first place. Su Ze just wanted to invite them back to have a talk to find out who they were, and they accidentally exposed themselves in the process. With no other choice left, they had to make the Lu Mingshu trio join forces with them.

"Who's afraid of them!?" Zhou Ruying said in disdain. "We can just leave whenever we want!"

"If they decide to force us to help them, it won’t be so easy." Lu Mingshu sighed. "Furthermore, we have pressing needs."

Spirit stones – a huge amount of spirit stones. They needed the mirror to work if they wanted to go back. A few thousand spirit stones only gave it a small amount of power, which meant that it would need roughly at least a few million for it to be usable.

Where could they get a few million spirit stones? Working as coolies would take them at least three to five years to earn such a sum. They had limited time, unlike the people in this world who could live a long life.

"But…" Zhou Ruying may have seemed to be fearless, but due to the tasks that she was always assigned, she had become very cautious to ensure that she would live for a long time.

"Let's agree before we decide," Ling Wuxia said. "If we dare not even try, how would we succeed? Standing here, unable to make a decision, won’t help."

"Yeah, I do agree. Only if we participate will we know what it’s like and if they are genuine." Lu Mingshu nodded.

"Fine…." Zhou Ruying sighed.

...

"You told them everything?" In the restaurant, Su Ze was staring at Yan Fei, eyes widened in shock. "This is too risky! Who knows who they even are?"

"Surely not citizens of Volt Wing City."

"I know, I know, but…"

"What would they gain from selling us out?" Yan Fei asked, looking at his teacup. "They are sword cultivators too. If they sold us out, they would drag themselves down too."

"It's not about selling us out or not." Su Ze sighed. "How could you just tell an outsider about that?"

"Wasn’t this your idea?" Yan Fei looked up.

"What I meant was…" Su Ze sighed and decided to not continue.

Yan Fei had already told them, so what was the use of continuing? It couldn’t change the fact that the three young ladies already knew.

"Hear me out," Yan Fei whispered. "We are out of time. Young Master can no longer take it anymore."

"But…"

"Would you rather just wait to die?"

Su Ze bit his lips.

"God is helping us," Yan Fei said. "I thought we were hopeless, but then those three showed up."

Su Ze shook his head and sighed. "To us, they are unknown people, and we have zero trust between us. It is better to ask those people. At least we know them well and a have good relationship."

"You're wrong." Yan Fei smiled thinly. "Yes, we have good relations with those people, but they have their own families and gangs too. The three ladies on the other hand have nothing to be concerned about. If something happens, it would be more troublesome for us to deal with the others than those three girls."

"But…"

"Have you found anyone who's better than them?" Yan Fei stared at him. "I don't know where they are from, but for people in the Foundation Realm, they are extremely powerful."

Su Ze nodded. He had experienced it personally.

"These past years, we have been living our lives like mice, hiding here and there. We can't drag it out anymore, we have to do something." Yan Fei leaned in toward Su Ze. "Maybe we will find a way to live."

...

The Su Ze pair wanted them to save somebody who was locked up in a dungeon in the protectorate administrative building.

They didn't specify who, but even an idiot would know it was another sword cultivator.

"How do we know that you won’t leave us to die?" Zhou Ruying stared at them weirdly. "There are surely Solid Pellet Realm cultivators in there."

"I will go along with you," Yan Fei said. "If anything happens, I'm doomed too."

"I'll be outside keeping a lookout," Su Ze added immediately. "Please be at ease. He's important to us, so we won't joke around with his life."

Zhou Ruying raised an eyebrow and shrugged.

"We have planned this for a long time." Yan Fei took out a map. "The Solid Pellet Realms in the administrative building are all not around right now. There's only one on guard, but he's obsessed with refining pills. Pretty soon, it will be a very important time for refining his pill, so unless it concerns the life and death of this city, there's no way he will come out. This is our chance."

Lu Mingshu started at the map, listening to Yan Fei explain.

"Wait a minute," she suddenly cut him off.

Yan Fei looked up.

Lu Mingshu pointed at the dungeon's position. "There's a problem with the map here."

"Miss Lu, we got it from the administrative building, it can’t possibly be wrong." Su Ze denied Lu Mingshu immediately.

"There definitely is." Lu Mingshu looked at him. "The data does not match. Either you were cheated, or it's a top secret that even your spy doesn’t know."
