225 Ambrosia Cartel: Part 32 Side Chapter: Anniversary Edition

Alright, all preparation were completed. All I had to do was to wait for the F-15 to come to the base and I could lure Lynn to the designated position. Well, it was quite a nuisance to set up a lot of fireworks that were stockpiled in the armory. Well, it was quite a power abuse on my side, but I also paid for that expense so they wouldn't complain about that either.

I had prepared the surprise for her which was an arrangement made using a lot of fireworks and a lot of flares. The preparation was also quite a nuisance on its own since I had to borrow a truck from the armory to transport all of that munitions. However, I also requested an emergency resupply from the main base so those ammunition could be replaced as soon as possible since I was using almost all of their ammunition.

As I waited on the edge of one of the runways, I could clearly see something was approaching the runway at a very high speed. Upon closer inspection, it was the F-15 that I was waiting for. That F-15 was going to land at the runway number 120. Yes, the runway was numbered that big due to the fact that there were more than one hundred runway that HSDC owned so it was hard to keep track of everything.

The F-15's wheels touched the ground and its speed was reduced as I got inside of the truck that I used to transport those fireworks. The fireworks itself was put at the outskirts of the base so it didn't disturb any plane activity inside of the whole base. I didn't remember how many firewords I had brought, but it was more than enough to catch his attention.

I entered the car and drove to the runway where Lynn and Clara's F-15 was waiting. They were there to fill out their aftermath report. The aftermath report was sually filled so the maintenance team could decide what was the best courseof action for the aircraft that had been used by any personnel. It was a jarring task, but it was very necessary to make sure that the base was in a good working condition.

I arrived at the hangar and Lynn was filling a form in the corner of the hangar. From the looks of it, it was the aftermath report that was placed on a table on the corner of the hangar. Each pilot usually filled that form by themselves, however, if the crew of the said aircraft was more than one, a pilot could let their WSO to fill half of the form. It was allowed in the HSDC to increase productivity since two-seaters fighter jet was the most oftenly used aircraft inside of the main base.

I rushed towards her direction. It turned out that Lynn was holding something on her hand. She was holding a chocolate bar and there was a bite inside of her mouth. It was not a cheap chocolate either, it was an expensive one that probably costed more than 20$. Well, that was Heriing for you, he just loved to give her daughter a surprise.

"Herring. He left for the United States. Well, he gave me two of these chocolate bars. Well, it was more than enough for tonight so I wont complain. Still, I can buy these chocolates by myself." Lynn showed two other bars that were placed insdie of her flight suit. That was Lynn.

Clara, on the other hand, was busy filling up two forms at once. Maybe it was something for that she promised during the flight. Well, I didn't know, their business were their business and neither I had access to the black box to access whatever they were talking about. However, it seemed to have something to do with the fact that she had to fill both the maintenance report and the combat report at once.

Even though a plane didn't fire even a single bullet, it still had to fill in the combat report so the technician could figure out whether to resupply the plane or not. However, the maintenance report had to be filled every single damn time. The report itself would ask for your average air speed and average distance. The maintence team usually based their report on that.

"Clara, have you finished yet?" Lynn asked.

"Not yet. Almost, just one form left. You two have fun. I have some training to be done," Clara said.

"Hmm, I see. Well, see you in the living quarter, Clara," Lynn said.

She walked to my direction. I intended to bring her to the designated stop first, however, she usually didn't want to go there with his flight suit since it was not appropriate. Well, she would usually asked me to take her to her living quarter first for a change. Then, she would ask to go to the cafetaria afterwards. Well, I assumed that the chocolate bar had filled her stomach up, so it wouldn't be too hard to ask her to go out first.

"Patrick, the usual. Take me to the living quarter," Lynn said.

I walked to the truck and opened the door. However, Lynn had a better idea, she went for the back of the truck where the fireworks were stored. With that done, I entered the truck cabin and hit the gas. I drove through the busy road of the base. As usual, the road was filled with trucks and vehicles. The base was very busy indeed, it was due to the fact that a road had been built to the highway. As a result, traffic between the base and several checkpoints were high.

"Patrick, remember what day is today?" Lynn asked.

I knew what I had to answer. However, pretending that I didn't know anything was the best course of action right now since I didn't want to ruin the surprise. I parked the car outside of the base and Lynn got out of the back of the truck. I radioed in to ask for a person to move the truck away from the living quarter.

The request was acknowledged and a corporal walked to my direction and asked for the truck's key. I gave it to him and he drove the truck away. I sat down in the bench that was located on the side of the road of the base. I should wait for her, as usual, she would take long to dress up. Well, it was long according to the usual standard.

She took six minutes before she reappeared in front of the living quarter. This time, she was in a clean uniform. "Patrick, what are you waiting? And why don't you answer my question?" Lynn asked me.

"Well, I think today is Wednesday and no more." I finished my statement there. I supposed to answer her question, but it seemed to be inappropriate to answer it right now.

I spawned my car and the car appeared right on the side of the road. Lynn entered the backseat of the car and I entered the driver seat. I drove the car to the spot which was located on the other side of the base. It was located on the far east corner of the base itself where there was no obstruction from any building nor any airplane. I also had placed the fireworks in the burned forest. She shouldn't be able to see it since I had put the fireworks far enough from the range of her bionic eye.

We finally arrived at the spot. There was a chair in that spot alongside with a bottle of champagne. Of course, Lynn was immediately surprised with that preparation that I had done. It wasn't easy to move a table and a chair all by myself without the support of anyone since I didn't want to abuse my power as a commander just for the sake of moving chairs for my girlfriend.

Lynn walked to that place with her face that had gone red. "I remember, of course, this was the day when I confessed wasn't it?" I said.

"Yes… Yes…" Lynn hugged me immediately and I hugged her back. It was sweet, but I prepared for the main show. I told Lynn to sit down on the chair and I walked to the direction of the chair with a long range detonator on my hand. I pushed the button of my detonator and fireworks were launched to the sky.

Those fireworks were colored white and it made a similar arrangements to the flower which she loved the most. It clearly resembled the Bethlehem flower that she loved. "Woah." She gazed at the fireworks with her eyes opened. "Thanks for the surprise, Patrick," Lynn said as she looked at the sky.

I poured a glass of champagne. I gave one glass to Lynn and the other glass was for myself. "Happy anniversary. Lynn." I gave the glass to her and we toasted.

"You too Patrick. Happy anniversary."
