Chapter 106 - 2 - First Day, but Hard Training!

Name:Pokemon Pearl Author:Marc0702
The next morning, after breakfast and preparing for the day, Rico, accompany by his mother, entered the front entrance of the newly opened Kanto Academy, all finished built and clean. Rico and his Pokémon are amazed by its nice appearance and the students who had been enrolled days before. The sun was shining great and only a few clouds scattered across the sky.

"Wow, this is so cool!" Rico commented in amazement. "I saw those bunch of buildings almost completed. Is this it?" Happily nodding to say yes, Rosario responded, "It is." Meanwhile, Lucas was at work.

"Hey, mom, are you sure about my old school being okay with my transfer?" Rico asked his mother in concern.

"We already talk about it a few days ago," replied Rosario cheerfully, "and they agreed with your transfer to this school."

"Oh, I understand you," Rico calmly replied in acceptance. "Well, that was great." Lucario then responded with happiness. And as they entered the front entrance, they meet up with Isaiah, Catherine, and their Pokémon, who were also enrollees. Ash, however, did not appear yet, but he had something that will surprise them.

"Hi, guys, good morning," Rico greeted them.

"Morning, Rico!" Isaiah and Catherine greeted him back. They then joined Rico and his team to the entrance as Rosario wavered them goodbye.

At the battle hall of the school, the new students and their Pokémon are gathered up and had conversations with one another. The hall was large enough to hold the students without overcrowding. Then, suddenly, Professor Ronaldo and his two ȧssistants showed up at the stage and called them in attention through his microphones. Upon hearing him, the students and their Pokémon then turned their attentions towards him. Rico was stunned by this, thinking, "Woah, Professor Ronaldo...."

"Welcome, my students," Ronaldo greeted them with a confident welcome, "to the new Kanto Academy, where knowledge and training are in one course. I would like to say your names and raise your hand in being present;" he then put his welcome paper behind for lists of students' names, and say their names one by one as the students whose names were being called raised their right hands for a few seconds. This takes Ronaldo some time to finish it, but at least, everyone's here and complete. After this, Ronaldo put his lists behind and for the announcements one. The number

"Alright, everyone, for today is not just an ordinary school day," Ronaldo announced positively, "but also a Pokémon Battle Trials day, where all of you test your strength and knowledge about Pokémon in a battle against our stronger Pokémon Trainers. It's okay if you fail, you're still in and proceed further to class." This causes the students to comment one another about it. But Ronaldo called them in attention, breaking their doubts and distrusts.

"Everyone, let's divide into two groups," Ronaldo told them with instruction, "those who had experiences of a Pokémon Trainer will be called Proficient Trainers, while those who didn't have any Pokémon will be called Beginner Trainers and will be given a Pokémon of their choice." Listening to him attentively, the students did so and split up into two groups of the said names. Because of this, the Beginner Trainers group are slightly more than the Proficient Trainers group. Once his students are divided and organized, Ronaldo ȧssigned his ȧssistants to give each of the Beginner Trainers a Pokémon of their choice. His ȧssistants did so, and led the said group to another room so they could choose their own Pokémon. He then turned back to the Proficient Trainers and told them, "As for all of you, you'll be battling the Pokémon Trainers we had." He then showed them the strong Pokémon Trainers he had temporarily recruited for the Battle Tests. They were strong, smart, tough, and came from other places and regions, as far as Kalos. The Proficient Trainers are amazed by their bravery in battles.

"Wow, those are so tough," one Proficient Trainer commented in mind.

"I think I could not defeat them," Isaiah added another comment in mind.

"They're so cool," Catherine added another comment in mind.

"What the...?" Rico quietly commented.

"Alright, everyone, the battles are on!" Ronaldo exclaimed in confident style.

Shortly thereafter, it was now Rico versus a strong Pokémon Trainer; they then called their Pokémon, Lucario and Boldore, and they stepped into battle seriously. Then, as the sun rose over the horizon, the battle had began.

"Boldore, use Rock Throw!" the Trainer commanded Boldore seriously. Boldore then used Rock Throw, attacking Lucario with a shower of small, easily thrown rocks.

"Quickly, Lucario, dodge it and use Force Palm!" Rico quickly commanded Lucario. Lucario then dodged Boldore's attacks and then charged and used Force Palm, running up to Boldore and puts its palm on it. It then fires a huge light green blast from its paw at it, striking Boldore with power and action, with Lucario doing a action back flip, returning to its original side in action.

"Wow, that Lucario looks so fast and easy to dodge," the Trainer commented in style, "but can you penetrate my mighty Boldore?" Then to his Boldore in commanding, "Boldore, use Flash Cannon!" Standing up firmly, Boldore used Flash Cannon, gathering all its light energy and releases it at once, striking Lucario with power. Lucario was weakened to the ground in pain.

"Oh, no, Lucario, don't give up!" Rico told with it in alerted surprise. In the audience, Isaiah commented, "I think Rico can't win." But luck works best. Suddenly, Lucario managed to get up, stand up with attempted strength, and used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power, striking Boldore with surprise in power. This surprises Boldore's Trainer and Rico a lot, and Boldore was weakened to the ground.

"Woah, Lucario..." Rico commented in stunning. Lucario then, in response, turned around towards him halfway and responded with seriousness, as if to say "I can do this," and then turned back towards its opponents.

"Oh, yeah, kid, do you think your Pokémon would beat my Pokémon?" the Trainer commented in style. Then to his Boldore, "Boldore, use Mud Slap!" Getting up with struggle, Boldore used Mud Slap, hurling mud in Lucario's face. But Lucario, with its alerted mind, dodged it quickly, stunning Boldore's Trainer.

"Alright, use Focus Blast, again!" Rico commanded Lucario with style. Lucario then used Focus Blast again, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power, striking with Boldore with so much power than last time that Boldore got defeated in fainting. This shocks Boldore's Trainer and amazes Rico as well.

"Boldore is unable to battle," the school referee announced, "Lucario wins." Rico then rejoiced in victory, and Lucario hugged him in embrace. Without any contempt, the Trainer called his Boldore back to its Poké Ball and said to Rico, "Well, kid, that was a really fun battle. I really liked it."

"Thank you," Rico gratefully replied back. "All that training worth this victory."

Shortly thereafter, it was other students' turn to have battles with their other opponents. The battles were intense enough and usually filled with either wins or loses for the Proficient Trainers, making the numbers a bit hard to calculate. At one time, when Isaiah was up against a Pokémon Trainer with a Swampert, the latter Pokémon used Hydro Pump on Isaiah's Charizard, defeating it quickly. Isaiah was really shocked and dismayed, but accepted it without any contempt nor retaliation. In the end, right before lunchtime, the Trial Battles had ended and after lunch, the normal classes will begin. In the same time, the Beginner Trainers had their Pokémon of their choice and train up good and well with responsibility. Rico had passed this trial with immediate effects.
