The slap sounded especially crisp and loud.

This slap had Qiao Jing lying heavily on the ground, blood spilling from the corner of her mouth, her face swollen like that of a pig.

“You, you really dared to hit me!” Qiao Jing covered her face, her eyes filled with hatred.

After a moment of shock, Su Manhan hurriedly helped Qiao Jing up, then pointed angrily at Zhan Nanqing, “You actually raised your hand and hit someone!”

“So, she insults my mother, and I can’t discipline her?” Zhan Nanqing said with a cool gaze and unwavering tone, “As her child, should I pretend I didn’t hear and let her insult her freely? She continuously says I lack manners, but where are her manners?”

Zhan Nanqing said this both for Qiao Jing and Su Manhan to hear.

“Are you blaming me for not raising her properly?” Su Manhan said through clenched teeth.

“What do you think?” Zhan Nanqing countered, her eyes and brows fierce with defiant recklessness.

Su Manhan, clutching her chest, struggled to breathe, just then, the phone rang. It was Grandpa calling

With gritted teeth, Su Manhan answered the call.

“Has Jing Girl gotten there yet?” Zhan Yuanshan asked eagerly.

“Dad, I’m afraid this family can’t accommodate her!” Su Manhan complained to Zhan Yuanshan while looking at Zhan Nanqing.

“What happened? Did you bully her?”

Hearing Zhan Yuanshan say this, Su Manhan almost bit her own tongue.

“It was her bullying your beloved granddaughter, she even swollen her face!”

Zhan Yuanshan breathed a sigh of relief, “You scared me to death, as long as that girl is alright.”

Su Manhan was almost spitting blood, “Dad, Nanqing is your granddaughter! She was hit, how could you—”

“It must be because she said something she shouldn’t have. I know Jing Girl very well, she’s lovely and likable, never causing trouble. Nanqing is spoiled by you, always causing trouble everywhere! From now on, you better discipline her properly, and if she ever dares bother Jing Girl again, I will—cough cough cough—”

Then came the voice of Su Manhan’s husband from the other side, “Dad, don’t get upset! Doctor! Doctor!”

The phone hung up with a “beep.”

Su Manhan was no less frightened. If Grandpa got seriously ill because of her and her daughter, they would become the sinners of the Zhan family.

Thinking this, Su Manhan dared not trouble Zhan Nanqing further and pulled Qiao Jing to leave.

Although Qiao Jing was reluctant, she had to hold back her anger considering that continuing the dispute might really upset Grandpa gravely.

Before leaving, Qiao Jing glared fiercely at Zhan Nanqing.

Wait! She wouldn’t let this go so easily.

“Close the door on your way out,” Zhan Nanqing reminded.

Furious!

Qiao Jing and Su Manhan were nearly driven to their limits.

The scene shifts.

In the VIP hospital room.

Zhan Qipei suddenly woke from a dream, sitting up abruptly with sweat covering his head, gasping for breath.

After pausing for a couple of seconds, Zhan Qipei immediately threw off the covers and looked under himself, his mind flashing back to the scene where the girl was misbehaving over him before he passed out.

Just as Lu Zijiao entered, he saw this unseemly sight, “Cough cough, Young Master Zhan, did you wet the bed?”

Zhan Qipei gave Lu Zijiao a glance then covered himself with the blanket again.

“Where is that girl?”

“Which girl?” Lu Zijiao asked in confusion.

“The girl who saved me.”

“I came as soon as the hospital called, didn’t see any girl though?”

She left? Zhan Qipei frowned, “Help me investigate who brought me here.”

“I’ve already looked into it, the person didn’t leave a name, just dropped you off at the hospital entrance and left. I also asked the front desk, it wasn’t any girl who brought you here but a few men wearing masks,” Lu Zijiao said.

Zhan Qipei’s lips were tightly pressed, his face cold.

As expected, she was intentionally avoiding him!

Touch him where she shouldn’t and then think she can hide? No way!

No other door but his Zhan family’s was closed to her!

“Check the surveillance, find her, we must,” he ordered.

“Oh, okay,” Lu Zijiao scratched his head, looking at Zhan Qipei’s gritted teeth, he felt like the girl wasn’t really saving Zhan Qipei but rather had a vendetta against him.

“Oh! Right! Almost forgot to tell you about this,”

“What is it?” Zhan Qipei pinched the bridge of his nose, his mind full of lingering images of surgery, not really interested in hearing about anything else.

“It’s about the marriage your grandfather arranged for you, your mom brought your fiancée home today.”
