"He would let me get ice cream, I need ice cream !" yelled Sophia "I made the pot, and I just got up! She isn't being fair" Yelled Justin. I put my hand in the air, signaling for them to both shut up; they did.
"How old are you both?" I asked, "Twenty" mutter Justin "Nineteen" mutter Sophia "You both could have fooled me, I thought that I had another two toddlers in the house," I said in mocking tone They both looked at me and I started laughing.
I walked over and got out the instant coffee and started making myself a cup. "Oh, and it is only fair that you both clean up that," I said lightly nodding towards the glass and the hot liquid on the floor.
With that, I walked out and sat at my computer desk. I had a lot of catching up to do for school. The next week I fell into a pattern. I studied, went to class and looked after the kids during the day and stayed in with Sophia and Justin in the evening.
Now and then they went out to see their perspective friends and a few of them had even come around the house now and again to pick up or drop off Justin or Sophia. But I stayed home. They had both tried to get me to come out with them, but I was anxious that I would bump into John.
I knew the chance that he lived around here was small but I didn't want to see him or listen to him. Justin had tried to get me to open up and tell him what happened, but I just gave him the short version. I told him that I saw the Kids dad and we got into a stupid argument but that was it. I didn't tell him that John was plaguing my every thought.
I knew that it would upset him. The truth was that I knew I still loved John, but I knew that getting back together with him would be a terrible idea. He thought that I cheated on him. He thought that I would give one of the best things that had ever happened, my dream finally coming true.
A dream of me the kids and a happy family complete with a husband who loved me and who loved them unconditionally. At least maybe I should thank him for opening my eyes; there was no such thing as a happy family or a complete family. You had to make the best of what you had under the circumstances. "Amelia honey? You here?" called Justin as he walked in the front door. "In the computer room" I called back "You still working?" he asked astounded.
I looked at the time and saw that it was six hours since he left. Sophia had taken all the kids to the zoo so I didn't get distracted. Time flies, I guess. "Yeah, I guess I am" I laughed, exhausted "Well, let‟s go out," he said enthusiastically. "I don‟t know Justin," I said "Come on you haven‟t been out in ages. I am meeting up with some friends tonight. Just going to a pub for drinks, why don‟t you come?" he asked "I don‟t want to make it awkward" I said honestly "Don‟t be naive, the guys are beginning to think I made you up. It will be lots of fun, I promise you."
He said persuasively. I looked at him, and damn him, he had the puppy face. "Fine," I said throwing my hands up in the air, "just let me call Sophia in case they get home before us" He ran over and hugged me, swinging me around. He kissed my cheek and ran into my/ our bedroom. "Justin, what the hell are you doing?"
I called out following him at a slower pace "Finding you some intimate clothes" he called back I walked into the room and saw that he was on his knees going through the draws. "Why do I need intimate clothes?" I asked, "it is not like I am going to be picking up random people is it?"
"Nah, I just want to show you off" he replied with a cheeky grin. We left the house about twenty minutes later and headed to a popular pub for the students.
